(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2026-04-28) Saa Loaiza, Pedro Antonio; Zúñiga Zúñiga, Juan Martín; Soto Alemán, Hernán Leonel
This research analyzed the keys for soccer broadcasting in Cuenca, Ecuador. The study was born out of the need to establish parameters to guide new local sports journalists, given the absence of previous work on this topic. The general objective was to analyze the keys for soccer broadcasting in Cuenca. A mixed methodology was used, with surveys to one hundred consumers of sports broadcasts and interviews to referential journalists. The need for professional and technical training of sports journalists in aspects such as previous research, voice management, technical and tactical knowledge along with oral expression is highlighted, also, production is crucial, since it is in charge of the logistics for a correct transmission. It is important to have a good understanding of the specific roles in a broadcast. Starting with the narrator who must have his own emotional style; the commentator will provide the tactical strategic analysis; the reporter or field edge will add data on the context of the match and the players; the commercial voice will be in charge of mentioning the advertising guidelines without interrupting the highlights of the match. It is concluded that the Cuenca’s audience prefers emotional narratives, valuing quality tactical analysis and excellent audio. There is also a migration to digital platforms, especially among young people. For a broadcast in Cuenca, technical skill, impartiality, technological adaptation and understanding of audience preferences are fundamental. This thesis contributes significantly to the training of future sports journalism professionals in the region.

This research aimed to examine the relationship between advertising practices of state agencies and news reports disseminated by regional media outlets in the city of Cuenca, focusing on identifying similarities in topics and narratives. The investigation employed a mixed-methods approach, integrating numerical and narrative procedures within an interpretive framework and a descriptive-critical study design. The methodological process consisted solely of examining press materials published by Radio La Voz del Tomebamba, the newspaper El Mercurio, and the online news portal Crónica Cuenca, as well as quantifying levels of citizen participation in online environments. The findings reveal that news reports frequently contain press releases and statements from officials, particularly those concerning infrastructure projects, social services, and government activities. Furthermore, a correlation was found between the topics covered and the language used by public entities and the content published by the media outlets reviewed. Engagement data indicates that these topics elicit a high level of user response in the area, demonstrating their social importance, although this does not establish causal links or direct financial subordination. The report concludes by stating that, in the Cuenca region, the discourse of authorities carries significant weight in the news agenda, generating moral dilemmas about how to separate the work of the press from state communication. However, the information evaluated does not provide definitive proof of systemic monetary dependence or coercion of editorial freedom; therefore, the conclusions remain at the level of mere description and data analysis.

This study assesses the impact of the Galápagos National Park's communication strategies on San Cristóbal Island to educate and raise awareness among tourists about the importance of conserving the archipelago. The research emphasizes the need to promote responsible behaviors within a delicate and unique ecosystem. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including the analysis of the strategic plan, interviews, and surveys of tourists to gauge perceptions and impact. The findings indicate that, although there is a plan with clear objectives and targeted audiences, it faces limitations in coherence and structure, which reduces its effectiveness. Digital campaigns and BTL activities have raised some awareness, but they still do not significantly influence conservation behaviors. Additionally, opportunities are identified to improve planning, follow-up, and systematization of actions, making them more aligned with protection goals. The research concludes that, despite progress in the communication plan, challenges remain that hinder its full impact. Implementing more integrated and coherent strategies could strengthen environmental education, awareness, and ecosystem conservation, leading to more effective and responsible tourism management. This analysis can serve as a foundation for refining the park's efforts, boosting its ability to promote sustainable practices and safeguard one of the planet’s most fragile ecosystems.

The main objective was to analyze the various forms of violence they experience in their daily work. To do so, a mixed methodology was used, including a documentary review, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews. The objective was to comprehensively understand the journalists' experiences. The results revealed that the majority of female journalists in Cuenca have suffered multiple types of violence, including sexual, psychological, physical, economic, symbolic, and digital violence. It is essential to emphasize that these forms of violence do not occur in isolation but coexist and interconnect, which exacerbates their impact on the journalists' mental health, who in many cases have had to resort to psychological and even psychiatric treatment. This reality has affected not only their professional careers but also their personal and family well-being. Understanding the status of women journalists' working conditions is vital for creating effective support protocols, thus promoting the eradication of gender-based violence in the city's journalistic landscape.

The present research analyzes the impact of the communicational campaign “Proyecto Protégeme” on the prevention of child sexual abuse among students from 4th to 7th grade at the Eugenio Espejo Educational Unit, in Cuenca. Through a quantitative and descriptive approach, structured surveys were applied to 130 students, complemented with documentary analysis of the campaign materials. The results show important achievements at an individual level: a significant increase in knowledge about sexual abuse, greater identification of support figures, and a better willingness to act in risky situations. However, these advances did not translate into sustained collective appropriation, nor into replication dynamics among peers. Uneven reception by the public was identified, as well as inequality in the reception of graphic and symbolic resources, which suggests the need to diversify formats and adapt content to different levels of children’s understanding. The synthesis of this study defines that although various strategic persuasive communicational processes were carried out, within its impact the need to consolidate several structural and operational aspects is evident as recommended; the same research highlights greater coverage of differentiated materials, inclusion of peer-to-peer communicational strategies, continuous evaluation, and active incorporation of the child’s voice. In sum, the research validates the power of communication as a preventive tool but warns that its effectiveness depends on its strategic articulation and the use of effective and efficient techniques and procedures.
