Item Abordaje mediático de diario El Universo en el caso del asesinato del ex candidato a la presidencia del Ecuador Fernando Villavicencio Valencia(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-05) García Guerrero, Enrique Mateo; Pizarro Aucapiña, Christian Ismael; Tello Carrión, Teodoro RicardoThis thesis investigated the media approach of the newspaper El Universo in relation to the murder of Fernando Villavicencio Valencia, former presidential candidate of Ecuador, which occurred in August 2023. The general objective was to analyze whether there was an agenda-setting in the newspaper's publications during that month. Through a quantitative methodological approach that included documentary review and content analysis using the coding book technique, the news from 31 editions of the newspaper El Universo in August 2023 were examined. The results indicated that Villavicencio was mentioned in 442 news items out of a total of 1,270 analyzed, covering 30 of the 31 newspapers reviewed. This evidenced an agenda-setting by the newspaper, with more frequent mentions on Fridays and Mondays, particularly highlighting Friday, August 11th, two days after the political crime. Additionally, there was an uptick in mentions after key events such as the first round of the anticipated presidential elections. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that the newspaper El Universo did set a media agenda focused on Fernando Villavicencio and with reference to the development of Ecuador's anticipated presidential elections in August 2023Item Aborto por violación” investigación periodística y guion para reportaje audiovisual(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-11-21) Reyes Bravo, Leyre Diana; Ortiz Placencia, Patricio Santiago; Zeas Bustamante, Freddy XavierThe media importance on the issue of abortion in Ecuador, but especially abortion for rape, has aroused interest in including it on the agendas of the digital and traditional media. The fourth power, as communication and journalism are called, is responsible for much of the existing public opinion, including to address the rights, and freedoms allowed. The objective of this thesis is the compilation of legal, social, historical, testimonial and media information about abortion for rape in Ecuador and how feminist movements, the media and the law have gone hand in hand with the issue. The death of thousands of women due to abortion, as a public health issue, cannot be omitted because it also annually causes the integral development of the lives of thousands of girls and women who are forced to give birth in the country and also of those who access clandestine and unsafe abortions and are penalized for doing so. Journalism has the tools and the responsibility to be sufficient in society; therefore, the development of a script for the production of an audiovisual report and interviews with experts around abortion due to rape in Ecuador are the ideal instruments to expose the subject. Journalism can be used to massively communicate messages, which in one way or another, cannot be carried only in conventional ways such as social debate and representations in public spaces by different groups of civil societyItem Acceso a la información pública mediante la LOTAIP en la Defensoría del Pueblo del Azuay: descripción de casos(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-06-07) Sacta Domínguez, Raquel Estefanía; Moscoso Brito, Edison David; Beltrán Romero, Juan FranciscoThe right to access public information is a powerful tool when soliciting or inquiring about information that is presumed to be fraudulent or incomplete, issued by entities that possess public content or data; with the support of the Law on Transparency and Access to Public Information (LOTAIP), within its articles, in junction with the public defense, an entity in charge of fulfilling fundamental rights. This paper presents the analysis of cases regarding the development of soliciting access to public information with the assistance or guidance of the public defense of Azuay, an entity that enacts the necessary articles of the Law on Transparency and Access to Public Information to deliver a clear message to citizens, as well as information on the importance of managing the rights to public access in different areas, specifically in journalism and general discussions. At the end of this analysis and investigation, a Guide to solicit requests for public information access is presented as an aid for future requests for public information access.Item Acceso, uso y significado de internet en los jóvenes estudiantes de la universidad de Cuenca(2011) Vera Luzuriaga, Johanna; Pesántez Torres, SalvadorItem Adaptación cultural de la comunidad Shuar en la ciudad de Cuenca; el caso de Melania Mitiap y Jhanely Estefanía Wampiu(2019-11-25) Aucapiña Puma, José Adrián; Cambisaca Maldonado, Jonnathan Fabián; Gárate Andrade, Wilson OrlandoDue to the large number of indigenous migrants in the City of Cuenca, and the limited documentation of their reality of life by living in a medium completely different from their origin, the journalistic investigation was proposed: "Cultural adaptation of the shuar community in the city of Cuenca; the case of Melania Mitiap and Jhanely Estefanía Wampiu". In carrying out this research, account was taken of the Shuar indigenous people living in the city of Cuenca, specifically two characters (Melania Mitiap and Jhanely Wuampiu) native to the Shuar ethnic group in the province of Morona Santiago, who already live 12 years in the urban basin. Through an audiovisual documentary of 45 minutes of duration, is narrated the life story of these characters, that goes from his childhood in the community Shuar San Luis of Inimquis, his family, his studies, the circumstances and reasons for which they decide to migrate to the city; until reaching their process of adaptation in the urban environment and as such process is related in the field of culture, the tradition and language they inherited from their ancestral people. This was not intended to generalize to all indigenous peoples, not even to the same Shuar community, what was sought was from a small lens to contribute with one of the different visions that this topic can have and to leave the curtain open for each one to present their own conclusion; and, more importantly, to encourage young researchers interested in topics relevant to the country’s multiculturality, and to delve into such important issues as the migration of these indigenous peoples and their acculturation process. Since this documentary is considered only as a small start and incentive to discover what our city hides in terms of the culture of the indigenous peoples and their histories; and, of course, there is much more to bring to light.Item Adaptación de cuentos populares andinos a radioteatro con técnica de sonido holofónico(2017) Aguilar Benítez, José Esteban; Aguaysa Velecela, Yadira Estefanía; Gárate Andrade, Wilson OrlandoThe project “Adaptación de Cuentos Populares Andinos a radioteatro con técnica de sonido holofónico” has as main objective the realization of five radial productions, in the scope of communicational creativity, they turn around of three sub topics that we have considered important like: popular stories, radio theater and holophony. They form a important link between them, recovering ancestral knowledge, traditions within social communication in the radial sphere, and with a technological plus in this case is holophony or binaural sound technique. The purpose of this project is to generate a production which appeals to the imagination of the human being, making through sounds and the construction of scenarios from the audition, the person who listens to the final products learn what means to create sensations and emotions without the need to use the five senses that human beings have, only one. In this way, we learn more about our culture in an attractive and innovative way, and we can know a little more where we come from, the different myths and legends that are born around the creation of certain cultures of our country, the same that we have taken into account of the different regions as Sierra, Coast and the Amazon. To reach this point, we conducted interviews with all the equipment that makes up the program Deportv, program producer Andrew Campoverde, Trujillo GUIFOR stellar emission presenter them who gave their contribution to build a daily news agenda in order to be a program of high-quality contents. Also surveyed viewers of the program, which could clarify what the audience looking in the sports program to meet their needs or interests. From these two aspects, the official discourse promoted the idea of a new moment for communication rights and freedoms. Between the debate prior to the approval of the LOC, some arguments were raised: vindicating the need to democratize communication from better control over the content disseminated in the media; a redistribution of frequencies - community, public and private media - to break the monopolies of private media. And from critical positions to the regime, demanding freedoms and communication rights. Five years later, in the heat of the national debate before a reform to the LOC, it is necessary to pay attention to the set of political and legal measures imposed; because the questions to the restrictive, antidemocratic and punitive character of this law, have not ceased. In this context, the ownership of the media in Ecuador is analyzed, as well as the perception of communication rights and freedoms in Santa Isabel, Azuay. Within this study was considered to carry out a survey to the public outside of the institutions, on the perception that the public about the company, this has served to know whether public relations tools are effective or not. Through the investigative process, it was verified if the name that is used to refer to the communication area is correct and if the analyzed institutions comply with all activities demanded by the Organization, to complete a Manual of public relations was created for a better management of the communication, which will serve as a guide to managers at the helm.Item Análisis comparativo de la producción técnica, coordinación periodística en los espacios informativos y comparación de la programación de las emisoras: Ondas Azuayas y Sonoonda(2016) Mejía Otavalo, José Alberto; Peñaloza Fernández, Guido Patricio; Samaniego Dumas, DiegoThe research "Comparative analysis of technical production, coordination and comparison of programming stations Onda Azuayas and SonoOnda in Cuenca during February and December," started with a historical overview of the two selected stations, through the analysis of bibliographic communication text, it contemplates: the theory of agenda setting and its effects according to the Marcos’ Avalos analysis, agenda setting with the empirical method by López Escobar, how news is made by Manuel Lopez, the theory construction of the agenda by Miguel Rodrigo Alsina, language radio by Danniel Cohen and Martha Pereyra, the production process by Andrea Holgado and production formats by Mario Kaplun. Later interviews were conducted in depth to people who re close to the media. With the objectives, the professional profile was determined, description of the functions of production, coordination in news journalism and characterization of the issues addressed in the same spaces. Finally, the data showed: lack of designation of tasks and responsibilities of each area of work, inequality in the comparison of the two media and the existence of technical and logistical shortcomings in the radio.Item Análisis comparativo de los programas deportivos de la televisión local(2006) Fárez Fárez, Elsa; Trujillo Maldonado, Fernando; Ortiz Vizuete, Fernando HerminioItem Análisis comparativo del tratamiento de la noticia, entre los diarios "El Universo" y "El Telégrafo" durante y después de los sucesos del 30 de septiembre de 2010(2015) Ordóñez Córdova, María Gabriela; Ochoa Ortega, Gabriela Lucía; Vázquez, Pablo AntonioThis research focuses on a comparative analysis of two national media, Daily El Telégrafo and Daily El Universo, in order to determine the treatment that each of the journals gave a topic of general interest: September 30th, 2010. In chapter I we make an approach to the relationship between the press and the government, and it was evident that historically in Ecuador, there have been friction between them, so we thought appropriate to consult authors and different journals that expose the situation and contextualize our work. In chapter II, to support the research, we reviewed several theorists, including Jürgen Habermas, with his theories of the Action of Communication and Public Opinion, and Elizabeth Noelle Neumann with the Spiral of Silence. Our investigation is also supported by theories of the Hypodermic Needle and semiotics. During chapter III, the comparative analysis about the treatment of the news from Daily El Universo and Daily El Telégrafo begins, using as the main methodological tool the Analysis of Content, which provides the basis for the study of each of the revised editions of newspapers. In chapter IV, the Analysis of Content was conducted in a quantitative way, based on statistical graphics. During the period that was investigated (September 30th, to October 3, 2010) were taken into account all of the news related to the event that concern us. Finally, conclusions refer us to the following concepts after the investigation: Daily El Universo and Daily El Telégrafo are ideologically opposed media, although its agenda in a situation of this magnitude is very similar. Thereby, we assure positive changes and internal improvements which are shown in the complacency of the users. Through this research, we determined the degree of satisfaction of the internal users in the University of Cuenca, with regard to the quality of the support to the user received by the administrative staff. They were analyzed their opinions, the results were measured and all of it was contrasted with the versions of the staff about the communication strategies applied by the University. We started by analyzing and defining the terms, concepts, and theories about the research was based on. Then, we did a deep analysis of the current communicational situation at the University, which was useful as a guide and starting point for the research, measurement, contrast, and analysis of the results. All this allowed us to have a wider sight of the problems: the causes and effects that produce them. In this way, to develop a communicational plan with short and long-term strategies, to generate more improvements and eliminate the flaws detected.Item Análisis crítico del discurso del nacionalismo en las noticias de prensa deportiva durante encuentros internacionales de la selección ecuatoriana de fútbol: el caso de El Mercurio y El Tiempo(2017) Bernal Pillaga, Fabricio Andres; Samaniego Dumas, DiegoThe nationalistic discourse has a great potential to manifest itself in the context of association football, the most popular sport in Ecuador. This study aims to identify the nationalistic manifestations found in this country's sports journalism discourse. Similarly, the researcher aims to find the specific ways in which these discourses express themselves. This investigation focuses on an analysis of the news articles found in the Ecuadorian daily newspapers El Tiempo and El Mercurio, one day before and one day after each of the Ecuador National Team's South American Russia World Cup 2018 qualifying matches in the year 2015 against Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay and Venezuela respectively. The researcher uses the methodology of Critical Discourse Analysis to determine the existence of an allusion to nationalistic discourse. Thus, the author identified a clear allusion to nationalistic discourse in different expressions that refer to a semantic relationship between the nation and the national football team, an homogenization of the Ecuadorian citizens around the national football team, representations of national symbolism and an accentuation of antagonisms and rivalries between national teams in football.Item Análisis crítico del tratamiento periodístico de la violencia de género a través del pódcast “Con lupa y entre líneas”(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-12) Ortega Delgado, Ana María; Beltrán Romero, Juan FranciscoThe media plays a crucial role in shaping the public perception that people have of the world. Through them, acts of violence that occur in different spheres are recorded and reported, fluctuating between the public and the private, serving as a means to highlight this problem. Therefore, the way in which violent acts are reported influences how the public interprets them and how the government responds to them. Reason why this work investigated relevant information about the formation of patriarchal and sexist societies, gender-based violence, the study of women, and provides an overview of how news about gender-based violence is addressed from the perspective of communication and journalism. This was done through a three-episode podcast that analyzes and critiques journalistic practices from the perspective of human rights and gender. The analysis focuses on the coverage of the case of Maribel Pinto, a femicide that occurred in November 2020 in Cuenca, Ecuador.
