Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have transformed education, offering innovative tools to optimize teaching and learning processes. This study, conducted at the Francisco Febres Cordero Educational Unit with first-year high school students, arose from the limited incorporation of ICTs in the Language and Literature subject. The main objective is to implement ICT-based teaching strategies to address a specific curricular section, promoting more meaningful learning. The research adopts a mixed, qualitative, and quantitative approach, framed within a participatory action research methodology. The stages include the investigation of sources to identify effective teaching strategies, the planning of collaborative activities between teacher-researchers, and the implementation of a classroom plan using digital tools. The results indicate an improvement in student learning, as well as an increase in their interest and active participation during classes. The implementation of ICT in this educational process has contributed to strengthening the subject of Language and Literature in a dynamic and interactive way.

The thesis project proposed the creation of a school sports newspaper at the Miguel Moreno Ordóñez Educational Institution with the purpose of strengthening students' writing, reading, and interviewing skills. During the sports days, the students took on the role of reporters: they wrote articles about the matches and interviewed their fellow athletes, which strengthened their communication and journalistic skills. The methodology combined a mixed-methods action-research approach, which included prior training in journalistic techniques, the production and dissemination of the newspaper in digital format, and the evaluation of its results through surveys and interviews. This initiative not only fostered interest in reading and enhanced writing and interviewing skills, but also encouraged student participation in sports and journalism activities, thus contributing to strengthening community cohesion. Furthermore, after its implementation, ninth-grade students showed significant progress in their reading and writing skills, demonstrating the project's effectiveness in improving their academic performance.

Throughout history, Buddhism and Hinduism have profoundly influenced the understanding of the human being, its religious and philosophical dimension to integrate into various artistic and literary manifestations. This research aims to define the theoretical framework of Buddhism and Hinduism to analyze six poems by César Dávila Andrade from the perspective of the hermeneutic method. It seeks to answer the question: What are the poetic resources through which César Dávila connects his poetry with central aspects of Buddhism and Hinduism in six of his poems? The theoretical framework that we will use to define the concepts of worldview, Buddhism, and Hinduism is constituted by the following texts and authors: The Buddhism of Peter Harvey (2006), What is Buddhism by Jorge Luis Borges and Alicia Jurado (1991), Time and Narrative I. Configuration of time in the historical narrative by Paul Ricoeur (1995), The Hinduism of Benjamin Preciado (1992), Philosophy and Worldview by Urbano Ferrer (1981). The methodology will be guided by Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutics, especially in its development of the theory of the three mimesis. In conclusion, this work aims to verify the fusion between the poetry of César Dávila Andrade and the influences of Eastern worldviews, addressing themes such as suffering, impermanence, and the search for peace, among others.

The conception of food as a social, temporal, and spatial act constitutes a domain rich in meanings, significance, and symbolism. Culinary practices and food preparations are integral to the identity of a community, as they are deeply intertwined with festivities, rituals, and celebrations. This study aims to identify and analyze, from a linguistic and cultural perspective, the various terms associated with gastronomic processes in the canton of Sígsig, with the objective of linking local traditions to the lexicon and semantics of linguistics. The research adopts a qualitative-quantitative approach that combines variationist sociolinguistics with ethnographic inquiry to produce a comprehensive analysis of both linguistic and cultural corpora. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews with local inhabitants, particularly those living in rural communities and neighborhoods. The findings are organized into twelve thematic domains that reflect the region’s rich gastronomic heritage, encompassing processes from soil preparation for cultivation to the cooking and serving of food.

In conventional educational settings, reading is predominantly linked to the acquisition of historical literary data or to the formal and intricate analysis of specific literary works. This narrow association, however, hinders the realization of a fundamental objective of contemporary literary education: the cultivation of competencies, reading habits, and, by extension, the enjoyment derived from reading. In order to contribute to the achievement of this objective, this research poses the following question: It is imperative to ascertain which activities and resources are conducive to fostering the development of habits and competencies in students, thereby enhancing their enjoyment of reading. In order to respond to this inquiry, it is proposed that the reading mediation practices carried out by the Montaña Inversa Foundation be studied. These practices are aimed at third, fifth, and eighth grade students of the Francisca Dávila de Muñoz Educational Unit. The data were collected through surveys, audio recordings, and photographic registries. The findings demonstrate the efficacy of reading mediation practices in facilitating encounters between readers and literary works, thereby enabling students to engage with written culture and construct pleasurable experiences through it.

Los hijos (1962) is an Ecuadorian novel written by Alfonso Cuesta y Cuesta belonging to the Literary Transition period, as it deals with themes such as migration and urban conflicts, renews narrative structures and builds rounded characters. Within this framework, the present study will analyze the Andean symbolism of water in the novel. The methodology applied will be analytical-interpretative, with a qualitative approach. Our tool of analysis will be the postulates of ecosemiotics, a current developed by Nöth (2001), Maran and Kull (2014), Kull (2016) and Zengiaro (2024), which will allow us to explore the interrelations of the natural and cultural systems of the work and build an ecological understanding of the world through the Andean symbolism of water, which will be analyzed from the theories of Estermann (2006), Lozada (2006) and Limón (2024). In this way, we identify the ecological roles in the work through the signs emitted by water, as well as its symbolism embodied in the rain, the rivers and the jars.

The work of contemporary literary chronicle consists of insertion into limited spaces of society, with the intention of analyzing the spaces inhabited by the subjects of the work, who, by living in precarious conditions, chose to involve themselves in a life of crime. This project approaches Cristian Alarcón's work Si me querés, querereme transa (2010) from a hermeneutic analysis, taking into account Ricoeur's triple mimesis. The aim is to explore how these spaces influence the construction of their identities and their foray into the world of drug trafficking, which is presented as a daily reality in their lives. Given that few studies on this topic exist, this research seeks to fill that gap and contribute to correcting the current information bias, with the objective of analyzing and understanding the fictionalization of themes such as drug trafficking, crime, and urban settings within the work. For the development of the theoretical and methodological framework, authors such as Alday (2020), Polit (2014), Laub (2007), Carillo (2008), Domínguez (2004), Gadamer (2004), Ricoeur (1991,1995), Alarcón (2010) have been taken.

The deficiencies in production and comprehension of argumentative discourse in BGU students is a fact. This is evidenced by the National Institute for Educational Evaluation (INEVAL) which revealed a setback in argumentative performance with a decrease in the average from 699 in 2020 to 689 in 2024. The present research work aims to strengthen the processing of reading comprehension and textual production of argumentative discourse, from the discursive cohesion based on the Theory of Relevance. For this purpose, a didactic proposal applied to the second BGU of the Octavio Cordero Palacios Educational Unit has been designed and implemented. The intervention consists of four phases: diagnostic phase, design phase, application phase and evaluation phase. The methodology used has a qualitative approach and I combined the didactic proposal with the participatory action research method given its similarities and particularities. After the implementation of the didactic proposal, the intervention has been positive, since the students improved substantially in argumentative discursive processing. The most relevant finding is the conscious use of argumentative markers, enhanced by pedagogical activities based on constructivist approaches to foster pragmatic cohesion.

Reading is a fundamental pillar of education and student knowledge. However, reading deficiencies still exist in the classroom due to students' inability to interpret or understand texts. For this reason, this research aimed to develop audiobooks as a teaching resource to develop literacy skills and improve reading comprehension among second-year secondary school students at the Unidad Educativa del Milenio Victoria del Portete, in the Cuenca canton. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach and action research that helped identify certain classroom problems. To carry out the process, a teaching sequence proposed by Barriga (2013) was designed, thus defining the activities to achieve this purpose. To this end, a preliminary test was conducted, the purpose of the project was explained, the topic of the Andean Gothic genre and the book "Las voladoras" by Mónica Ojeda were presented, the audiobooks were designed, evaluated with a post-test, and the production comprehension and that the activities fostered their interest in reading. Ultimately, the use of inclusive strategies such as audiobooks successfully fostered students' interest in contemporary reading.

The present investigation pretends to establish the dialectic of the monstrous as a form of resistance against the power speech. With this objective, we get ready to define the following categories: the monstrous as an affirmation of alternativeness (Moraña, 2017); the grotesque as the state of uncertainity between what’s normal and abnormal (Edwards & Grauland, 2013); and the becoming-monstrous as the cease of being and the becoming of an unbeing (Deleuze & Guattari, 2004; Audran & Sánchez, 2023). Categories that express themselves through dispositives (Deleuze & Guattari, 1978; Agamben, 2011) as a way of thinking and proposing a new aesthetic of the andean and tropical gothic. The methodology corresponds to a hermeneutic analysis according to the principles of Paul Ricoeur's Triple Mimesis (1995). The conclusions demonstrate that the characters present in the stories correspond to the category of monster proposed by the Neo-Gothic.

This research, entitled Becoming Women: Elsa and Hipólita in Roberto Arlt's Los siete locos (1929) and Los lanzallamas (1931), is guided by the following question: What literary devices does Arlt use to construct the becoming-woman of Elsa and Hipólita in Los siete locos (1929) and Los lanzallamas (1931)? The main objective is to define and theoretically substantiate the concepts of becoming and becoming-woman, based on the philosophical proposal of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, which they present and develop, especially in A Thousand Plateaus (1980, 2004). The methodology that will guide this study is hermeneutics, according to Paul Ricoeur in his book Time and Narrative I: The Configuration of Time in the Historical Narrative (1995), in which he develops the theory of triple mimesis. As we will have the opportunity to show, Elsa constitutes a becoming-woman with decisions that, in our day, would be problematic, while Hipólita becomes a woman by being part of the minority and becoming what being a woman means to her. Both embody processes of escape, autonomy, and resistance that place them at the center of a critical reading of female subjectivity.

In a world steeped in literature and music, Cerati's works allow us to appreciate the dialogues between the two. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze Cerati's song lyrics and their literary, intertextual, and literary device relationships throughout his career as the leader of Soda Stereo and as a solo artist. In this way, it is demonstrated how the singer, through his music, keeps Latin America's literary tradition alive, bringing it to the masses. For the preparation of this article, a qualitative textual analysis methodology based on the theories of Barthes, Kristeva, and Genette was used. Furthermore, the compilation of articles, theses, interviews, and other material allowed for a visualization of the scarce background material on this topic. Finally, the conclusions show how Cerati visualizes literature and transforms it into lyrics, which are replete with intertextuality.

The Shuar community is one of the oldest peoples in the Amazon region, with a history marked by resilience and the preservation of a cultural identity deeply linked to nature. However, it currently faces the progressive loss of its values, ways of thinking, and unique worldviews as a result of phenomena such as acculturation and globalization. These processes have caused many Shuar groups to distance themselves from their ancestral traditions and adopt practices alien to their culture. Faced with this problem, this study proposes the creation of an anthology based on a selection of myths and legends from the Shuar community in the cantons of Sucúa and Logroño, as a strategy for preserving and strengthening their cultural identity. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with ethnographic methodology, using in-depth interviews as the primary data collection technique, which were audio-recorded. Criteria such as the human-nature relationship, cultural relevance, and symbolism were considered when selecting the stories. In the process of transcription and adaptation into Spanish, efforts were made to maintain the original narrative essence, respecting the linguistic peculiarities and symbolic elements of the Shuar oral tradition. Ultimately, this study successfully created an anthology that compiles myths and legends representative of this ancestral community, constituting a valuable tool for revitalizing their collective memory and affirming their cultural identity.

The present research aimed to analyze and understand the functionalization of the Andean worldview and the mystical journey in the novel “Electric Shamans at the Feast of the Sun” (2024) by Mónica Ojeda, from an eco-semiotic perspective. For this, an analytical-interpretative design was applied, which allowed to decompose the narrative and symbolic elements of the text within the contemporary Ecuadorian sociocultural context. The qualitative approach facilitated a deep interpretation of the cultural signs in relation to the ecological world signs present in the work. The semiotic eco-analysis identifies the systems of symbols related to the Andean cosmovision and that of the images of the language that allow its visibilization. The results show that the novel is organized around elements of the natural world, where the ancestral and the modern actively dialogue. In this cultural setting, the events reported are transformed into natural symbols and shamanic rituals. Thus, “Electric Shamans at the Festival of the Sun”, from a contemporary, critical, and ecological perspective, demonstrates ways of life, of inhabiting, and of narrating that challenge the boundaries between traditional knowledge and current discourses, reaffirming its value as a symbolically complex and culturally powerful text.

Sociolinguistics is a discipline devoted to the analysis of linguistic variation influenced by the social environment. In introductions to sociolinguistics, the variable of age is generally mentioned as relevant to linguistic variation. Among the different age groups, young people stand out as the group that has generated the most striking idiomatic form. The aim of this research is to identify the lexical-semantic terms used by the gamer community, both in casual and competitive environments, and to analyze how anglicisms adopt the processes of nounification and verbalization of Spanish. The work began with an ethnographic study, which involved an approach to the communities of the video games Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Minecraft and Roblox, made up of players of the aforementioned video games. For data collection, we resorted to participatory observations and semi-structured interviews, which allowed us to better understand the meanings and signs that allow communication within this video game. The lexical-semantic analysis of the collected terms will be determined and analyzed according to a lexicographic strategy, that is, by means of a glossary that provides us with grammatical and semantic information. Finally, we will write down the social and linguistic conclusions we have reached with this study.

This paper analyzes the construction of reading and writing identity in 27 students of the Master's Degree in Language and Literature Teaching at a university in Loja (Ecuador). The main objective is to identify the factors and experiences that shape teaching identity by examining their personal biographies. For this purpose, a mixed qualitative design was implemented. First, the biographies were collected and then transcribed and coded according to categories related to reading and writing experiences. Next, the frequency of the main emerging factors in each category (family, institutional and personal) was quantified to determine their relevance in the process of identity construction. The findings reveal that reading initiation is mainly based on children's literature and poetry, mediated by the family. Subsequently, participants incorporate academic texts, influenced by teachers, and self-help texts. In addition, affective reactions and the perception of reading self-efficacy are determinant in the formation of reading habits. In writing, participants begin in the school environment and then diversify genres. They experience writing as a catharsis and a form of communication, although insecurities persist in their writing skills. In conclusion, it is proposed to progressively integrate textual genres appropriate to the educational level, to promote orality, and to.

Reading skills are the foundation for building new knowledge and fostering critical thinking. However, in our context, specifically at the high school level, these competencies have yet to be established as a strength. According to the National Institute for Educational Evaluation (2023), 40.3% of high school students demonstrate either a basic level of reading performance or are still developing their reading abilities. This underscores the need to design and implement various didactic strategies aimed at enhancing their reading skills. As a contribution to addressing this gap, we developed a reading and design proposal focused on pop-up books. The objective of this research is to analyze the students’ activities and the teacher’s actions during the implementation of the proposal. To achieve this goal, within the framework of action research, a didactic sequence centered on a reading circle and the creation of a pop-up book will be designed, implemented, and analyzed. During the implementation of the sequence, audio recordings and students’ work will be collected—qualitative tools that will allow us to analyze and categorize the data. For this purpose, the study will be conducted with first-year high school students from Benigno Malo School, an institution located in the urban area of Cuenca. This project aims to deepen the understanding of literary conversation and the teaching practices involved in facilitating it in the classroom.

Composición e inspiración de músicos cuencanos: análisis estilístico y literario de letras musicales
(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2025-10-22) González Ortiz, Leonardo Gabriel; Petroff Rojas, César Iván
This research addresses the study of song lyrics by contemporary Cuenca musicians from an interdisciplinary perspective that integrates literary criticism, textual stylistics, and cultural studies. Given the lack of systematic studies on independent musical compositions in Cuenca, this paper analyzes the lyrical productions of three representative bands: Algoritmo Morlaco, Rosso, and Rogerem. The overall objective was to examine the stylistic and literary values of their compositions, identifying formal and thematic characteristics and their connection to the cultural context of the region. Using a qualitative, hermeneutic, and documentary approach, a corpus of musical lyrics produced in the last decade was selected. Analytical techniques included examining rhetorical devices, linguistic structures, thematic motifs, and cultural references present in the songs. In addition, informal interviews were conducted with the composers to delve deeper into their motivations, creative processes, and identity perspectives. The findings show that the lyrics of these Cuenca musicians possess a remarkable literary richness, manifested in the use of visual metaphors, sensory symbols, rhythmic repetitions, and fragmented structures. A strong intertextuality with global and local references is also observed, generating hybrid discourses that oscillate between the personal and the collective. It is concluded that these compositions not only constitute artistic expressions of high aesthetic value, but also function as vehicles for the construction and negotiation of contemporary Cuenca cultural identity. The city's independent music emerges as a space of symbolic resistance and literary creativity that deserves greater academic and cultural attention.

The purpose of the pedagogical relationship or communication is to initiate, modify, and develop knowledge in the learner, because it is the fundamental means for the production, reproduction and transformation of society and culture. In this relationship, we privilege the didactic tools (strategies, skills and attitudes), on the one hand, and the linguistic-discursive and cognitive mechanisms within the teaching-learning process of argumentative discourse, given that the Current Proposal of the Ministry of Education, only, is anchored in the formal structure of the argumentative text and is not interested in developing students' critical and reflective thinking. Our intention is to design a pedagogical proposal to strengthen the teaching-learning process of argumentative discourse for the levels of Basic General Education and Baccalaureate, from Enunciative Social Theory. The applied methodology: action research, whose approach is qualitative. It begins with a bibliographic review to present a descriptive, explanatory and interpretive framework for the design of the pedagogical proposal from Enunciative Social Theory. The theoretical basis includes evoking rhetoric in Aristotle (Padilla, 2020), among others. The problem of discursive genres by Bakhtin (1952), academic and professional genres by Parodi (2008), the proposal of enunciation by Martínez (2005), of course, within the framework of Bernstein's Pedagogical Practice (2000). The focus group corresponds to students from two Educational Institutions: “Liceo Cristiano” (Private Educational Unit) and “Ricardo Muñoz Chávez” (Public Educational Unit). The results show that this proposal is pertinent because it involves processes that stimulate the student's critical and reflective thinking. Furthermore, it allows the teacher to strengthen the teaching-learning of this type of discourse by providing strategies from reading, collaborative work and evaluation processes from textual constructions that cover real sociocultural problems. In conclusion, we try to offer the teaching-learning process of argumentative text-speech for effective communication.

The present study proposes to identify the new representations of the monster in the context of the literature of the 21st century, particularly in the narrative produced by the most recent generation of Ecuadorian women writers. This proposal aims to abandon the idea that the terrifying materializes only in the form of imposing beasts and/or supernatural or fantastic phenomena; recognizing that evil originates and invades the areas closest to us. Therefore, it is proposed to analyze how childhood is constituted in the stage of the origin of evil (violence and madness) through the monstrous in the play Nuestra piel muerta (2019), by Natalia García Freire. This study will be carried out through a critical analysis of the work, based on discourse analysis with authors such as Gabriel Giorgi, 2009; Adolfo Vásquez, 2012; Carmen Molina, 2004; Paz Velasco de la Fuente, 2018, among others.
