Item La percepción de inseguridad en el uso del transporte público en las estudiantes de la Universidad de Cuenca en el año 2024(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas, 2025-10-31) Bermeo Andrade, Heydi Anai; Ochoa Amores, Paula Nohelia; Falconí Abad, María MonserrathThe perception of insecurity in public transportation is a social issue that disproportionately affects women, who face risks of violence in this setting. For this reason, it is crucial to understand how the student community of the University of Cuenca experiences and perceives this insecurity, considering their gender and the associated power dynamics. This study analyzes how female students at the University of Cuenca experienced and perceived insecurity in public transportation during 2024 from a gender perspective. A phenomenological method and a mixed design combining qualitative and quantitative techniques were used. Surveys were administered to 368 female students to collect quantitative data, while the qualitative component included five semi-structured interviews with users selected from different campuses and six observations at busy bus stops. The results indicate a concerning level of perceived insecurity in the use of public transportation, attributed to structural and cultural factors such as harassment and the lack of lighting and surveillance at bus stops during nighttime. These conditions negatively affect the emotional well-being of female students and limit their mobility. Such circumstances lead to adjustments in their schedules and reduced access to academic and extracurricular activities, reinforcing a persistent sense of vulnerability. Strategies employed by female students to mitigate perceived insecurity include traveling in groups, sharing their location through technology, or carrying self-defense tools that may be useful in certain situations. However, these measures are reactive responses and not definitive solutions.Item Estrategias socio organizacionales y de comercialización que inciden en la sostenibilidad de organizaciones productoras de leche en la parroquia Jima(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas, 2025-10-21) Zhunio Suqui, Diana Belén; Capelo Ayala, Delfa HumbertinaThis study presents the importance of the socio-organizational and marketing strategies of the livestock organizations of the Jima parish, considering that they are fundamental actors in the value chain of dairy production, facing influences of social and organizational variables that affect the incidence of their sustainability, justifying itself from a sociological approach, framed in a line of socio-economic analysis, contributing to scientific knowledge in a field where there are few studies from the social area. This study adopts a mixed approach, starting from the quali-participatory, focused mainly on the qualitative part, considering the quantitative as complementary. It is a descriptive case study design. Data collection was carried out through focus group and survey techniques, directed to active producers of milk production and marketing organizations. Sampling for the focus group was done randomly considering 6 representatives of the collection centers and a representative of the Gad Parroquial Jima; The results are presented by objectives with the use of Sankey diagram and SWOT analysis, considering that this research seeks to identify the socio-organizational and marketing strategies of the milk producing organizations, similarities and differences of strategies based on the literature with strategies of this study, in addition to strategic proposals for milk producing organizations that are part of this study.Item Factores y características de la deserción en estudiantes de la carrera de Sociología de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2022-2023(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas, 2025-10-22) Carchipulla Mora, Lisseth Silvana; Capelo Ayala, Delfa HumbertinaThe objective of this study is to analyze the sociodemographic characteristics and dropout factors in students of the Sociology major at the University of Cuenca in the 2022-2023 cohort. The research approach is qualitative, with a descriptive, explanatory and non-experimental design with a case analysis methodology, so the study population is the students who dropped out of the Sociology degree in said cohort, in which, intentional non-probabilistic sampling was used. The instruments used for data collection are the semi-structured interview for its corresponding coding and categorization using the ATLAS ti version 9 software. Based on the results obtained, the determining factors of dropout in students of the first two cycles of the sociology major at the University of Cuenca in the 2022-2023 cohort are: to a greater extent to personal factors, such as low vocational motivation and level of preference for choosing the Sociology major as a second option; academic factors since subjects with greater theoretical than practical weight predominate, which leads students to not have a greater understanding and motivation for sociology and as a last factor, due to the existence of cases of machismo, harassment, discrimination and normalized bullying among peers, Likewise, of the students surveyed who have suffered as those who have not, indicate that the classrooms of the degree are an unprotected space due to the presence of these cases in the classrooms.Item Análisis de la marginación social hacia las mujeres con trabajo informal en el sector 9 de Octubre durante el periodo 2023(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas, 2025-10-17) Cárdenas Segarra, Nancy Leonor; Zhimnay Valverde, Cristian FabiánThis research focuses on the reality of informal workers who work near the 9 de Octubre market in the city of Cuenca, a vulnerable and marginalized social group due to economic precariousness and lack of access to basic services. The study aims to analyze the strategies that these women need to deal with social exclusion, taking into account that work is informal, as a means of subsistence, without guarantees of stability and social protection. The research considered that social marginalization is persistent due to structural and socioeconomic factors that influence disproportionate behavior towards women in the informal sector. Given that it is necessary to carry out an analysis because women are the ones who run the greatest risk due to excessive responsibilities and discrimination at work. Statistical and theoretical data show that the increase in the number of informal workers and the high representation of women in this sector prove that the situation of exclusion and precariousness is worsening. Finally, a case study is carried out, working only from life stories and non-participant observation, thus describing their situation in the informal sector, identifying the factors that determine their exclusion and determining the main consequences of this problem.Item Participación organizacional de adultos mayores en territorio rural en contexto de emigración: estudio de caso en la Parroquia La Asunción del Cantón Girón, 2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-09-23) Guillen Tello, Daniela Alejandra; Llanos Samaniego, Daniel Emmanuel; Encalada Calle, Daniel AlbertoDemographic changes resulting from migratory movements, such as the depopulation of rural communities due to emigration, contribute to the transformation of participation dynamics among older adults. This is the case in the parish of La Asunción (Azuay), where there is a marked trend of emigration among young people of working age. This process has affected social organization and the levels of participation, integration, and support perceived by older adults. The aim of this research was to analyze how migration is related to the dynamics of participation, integration, and social support as perceived by older adults in the community. The study, descriptive and cross-sectional in nature, drew on census data, the parish PDOT, interviews with local authorities, and structured surveys applied to 258 older adults. The results show that organizational participation reaches a medium-low index, with barriers linked to distance and lack of information. Age is negatively associated with participation, while the number of children has a positive effect. Significant correlations were identified: moderate between participation and integration, weak but positive between participation and social support, and strong between integration and support. In addition, community life is perceived to have changed due to emigration, mainly in negative ways.Item Expansión urbana y segregación espacial: Caso Challuabamba – Cuenca en la última década(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-09-23) Dumas Alvarez, Daniel Alexander; Patiño Lalvay, Jonnathan Andres; Mosquera Serrano, Mariana EulaliaCuenca is one of the most important cities in Ecuador, both in population size and its contribution to the country's economy, considered an intermediate city, it is in constant change structurally, economically, culturally and socially, but for some years it has become evident that the city faces a prolonged urban expansion that has been accentuated in the peripheries of the urban center and in the head of the rural parishes. This has led to certain social phenomena such as gentrification and segregation, which has affected native residents of rural areas and people with much lower incomes. In this way, this has led to cultural, social and economic transformations as a result of new influences and much more modern and "urban" lifestyles. One of these clear examples is the Challuabamba area, a sector located on the outskirts of the urban area, but which presents great urban growth where large gated communities, shopping centers and large farms are visible; Where before this was an agricultural area where the homes could be counted on the finger and now it is a completely different sector and where the native residents who still reside have seen, lived and felt this phenomenon firsthand. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the causes of segregation resulting from urban expansion, taking into account the perceptions and experiences of the residents in the last decade. The research will apply a mixed methodology based on semi-structured interviews and surveys, as this will allow for a better understanding of the phenomenon.Item Análisis de las prácticas alimentarias, prácticas de producción agroecológica en las asociaciones Agroecológicas Ally Causay y APA Azuay y en las comunas Chunazana e Illapamba de la provincia del Azuay(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-05-19) Morocho Morocho, Joseline Andreina; Álava Atiencie, Nubia GabrielaThe concerning situation regarding our consumption habits and resource use, which far exceed the recovery capacity of our ecosystems, compels us to rethink our interactions, both individually and collectively, with the environment. The urgency to ensure food sovereignty and promote sustainable agriculture in the context of climate change has driven research in the province of Azuay. The objective is to analyze food practices and agroecological production, as well as their contribution to food sovereignty and sustainability, in four specific cases: Ally Causay, APA Azuay, Comuna Chunazana, and Comuna Illapamba, identified as agroecological associations in the region. The study is based on the importance of thoroughly understanding these dynamics to promote responsible and sustainable food and agricultural practices. The research methodology is mixed—quantitative and qualitative—with a participatory approach. A survey was conducted to collect quantitative data, followed by qualitative analysis through feedback workshops. The results were validated by the participants before drawing conclusions and recommendations. Among the main findings, it stands out that food practices are significantly influenced by the agroecological principles applied in production, which strengthens food sovereignty and the local economy. It is concluded that these actions improve food security, recommending increased agroecological training and the promotion of local markets.Item Trayectoria de las curanderas cuencanas en las prácticas de la medicina ancestral andina: Análisis cultural y de género (2024-2025)(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-04-29) Cárdenas Castro, Daniela Vanessa; Chacón Martos, Carolina Michelle; Paño Yáñez, Pablo JoséAlthough in recent decades there have been advances in terms of recognition of ancestral medicine, nevertheless, in praxis, ancestral medicine agents face structural problems. In this context, the objective of the research began to analyze the trajectories of women healers in relation to the practices of ancestral Andean medicine in the city of Cuenca in the period 2024-2025.For this purpose, an exploratory, cross-sectional and qualitative study was used, through techniques such as interview and non-participant observation. The results show that learning is acquired mainly by a spiritual gift, by family inheritance and by observation and community experience. The processes are perfected by new generations, by practice since childhood, by adaptation of Catholic beliefs and adaptation of other methods. Regarding the influence of gender roles, these practices are considered extensions of the care-giving role that falls on women. Regarding strengths, community support and recognition, women's resilience and permanence are identified, while among the challenges are the lack of institutional support, absorption of negative energies, low remuneration and economic precariousness, violence and discrimination. It is concluded that the trajectory of women in the practices of healing and energetic cleansing is fundamental for the preservation and transmission of this knowledge, which endures due to their resistance and commitment, despite the situation of violence and discrimination they face.Item Dinámicas socio-económicas en la Compañía de economía mixta AgroAzuay: Un estudio de caso de las relaciones entre productores agroecológicos e intermediarios de la Feria Talleres en los Patios de la Prefectura del Azuay de la Ciudad de Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-04-28) Loja Jarama, Jessica Paola; Solano Solano, Karen Morelia; Martínez Rodríguez, Luis EmilioThis research focuses on studying the relationships between agroecological producers and intermediaries in the Feria Talleres de la Compañía de Economía Mixta AgroAzuay, in Cuenca, Ecuador. Nowadays, agroecological trade is marked by power imbalances due to the lack of transparency in the participation networks that generally harm small producers. This structural problem arises due to the existing inequities in the exchange processes between agroecological producers and intermediaries, based on this problem the following question has been posed: How are the socioeconomic relations between agroecological producers and intermediaries constituted through participation networks in the Feria Talleres? This led us to explore several economic sociological perspectives, among them, embeddedness, social networks and fair trade. A qualitative case study approach was implemented, where data was collected through semi-structured interviews and surveys that allow us to obtain descriptive data from the traders, participant and non-participant observation. Concluding that the networks of participation, as well as the social and economic dynamics are marked in the production and commercialization more equitable and transparent in the commercial relations that occur between agroecological producers and intermediaries contributing to local economic development and the adoption of agroecological practicesItem Influencia de aspectos socio-culturales y socio-económicos en la capacidad emprendedora social de actores comunitarios del cantón Guachapala(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-19) Heredia Navos, Marilu Eugenia; Molina Matute, Gisselle Estefania; Álava Atiencie, Nubia GabrielaAt present, humanity is facing crises of all kinds, where social entrepreneurship constitutes an opportunity to generate transformations that contribute to the common good. In this context, the objective of this study is to analyze the influence of sociocultural and socioeconomic aspects on the social entrepreneurial capacity of the community actors of the mentioned communities, with the purpose of proposing strategies to strengthen their community social entrepreneurial capacity. A mixed methodology (quantitative-qualitative) was used from a participatory approach. The results were obtained within the framework of the “World’s Largest Plow” project, which show that in the three communities the prevailing socioeconomic factors are: majority participation of adult women, low representation of young people, aging population, land and housing ownership, limited access to credit and low savings capacity. In terms of socio-cultural aspects, there is insufficient recognition of the tourist sites in the communities. With respect to the impact of these factors on entrepreneurial capacity, it is shown that socio cultural aspects have a significant impact, while there is no impact of socioeconomic factors. In terms of strategies, a set of actions are designed for infrastructure, research, incentives, motivation, technical advice, financing, strategic alliances, dissemination and communication, revaluation of cultural traditions and spaces for intercultural dialogue. In conclusion, in the study areas, it is essential to promote social entrepreneurship, because in these communities, entrepreneurship goes beyond achieving economic returns for subsistence. It seeks to contribute to the preservation of their customs, values and traditions in order to strengthen their identity.Item Exploración e interpretación de los aspectos socioculturales en la comunidad gamer de Cuenca-Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-20) Criollo Montaleza, Brian Omar; Herrera Torres, Dora PriscilaThis research explores the sociocultural characteristics of the gamer community in Cuenca- Ecuador in the period from May to October 2024. It was developed under a qualitative approach, the data collection methods used were participant observation and semi-structured interviews, with the objective of analyzing the social dynamics, cultural practices and identity elements that characterize the Gamer community. In addition, the sense of relevance, socialization processes and cultural expressions as a result of social interactions in physical and virtual spaces are analyzed. The population studied is made up of gamers over 18 years of age who characteristically dedicate at least 3 hours a week to video games, and identify themselves as part of the Cuenca gamer community. The results showed that this community has developed a social system that integrates local and global elements through the links generated in virtual and physical spaces. It was concluded that there is a solid sense of belonging based on skills and merits, while social interactions reveal a duality in behaviors depending on the environment. It is important to highlight that the community has its own cultural norms, a particular language (slang) and self-regulation mechanisms, which contributes to the formation of a unique cultural identity. Therefore, this research is significant due to the growing impact of video games today, which is why it is necessary to understand the sociocultural implications.Item Construcciones socioculturales de género en la educación superior: un análisis de su impacto en la experiencia académica de estudiantes universitarios en la Universidad de Cuenca en el año 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-18) Balcazar Peralta, María de los Ángeles; Encalada Calle, Daniel AlbertoThis research explores how sociocultural gender constructions influence career choice among students at the University of Cuenca, highlighting persistent gender gaps in areas such as STEM, despite advances in educational equity. Utilizing a quantitative approach and descriptive scope, this study is based on an exhaustive analysis of secondary and primary sources to investigate how these constructions limit opportunities, reinforce stereotypes, and affect students' academic adaptation. The central objective is to identify the sociocultural factors influencing young people's professional preferences, as well as the gender barriers they face. The research seeks to promote a vocational choice based on individual interests, free from gender biases, and contribute to the knowledge of gender equity in higher education. Additionally, it aims to propose strategies for a more inclusive and equitable education at the University of Cuenca, ensuring equal opportunities for all students, regardless of gender.Item Estratificación social y diversidad étnica en Ecuador y Brasil: un análisis comparativo(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-20) Jimbo Bernal, Eddison Paúl; Mosquera Serrano, Mariana EulaliaThe research is conducted within the framework of persistent inequality in Latin America, where Ecuador and Brazil stand out for their pronounced socioeconomic disparities. Despite both countries having implemented social policies aimed at mitigating these inequalities, indigenous and Afro-descendant communities continue to face significant challenges. Ethnic self-identification becomes a crucial factor in understanding how social and economic structures affect these groups, perpetuating their disadvantaged position in accessing resources and opportunities. The study aims to analyze the relationship between social stratification and ethnic groups in Ecuador and Brazil. To achieve this, several specific objectives are established: examine how income levels, education, employment, and access to basic services are related to the ethnic self-identification of populations in both countries; investigate the social policies implemented in Ecuador and Brazil aimed at reducing inequality, evaluating their effectiveness and scope; provide a sociological explanation for the persistence of social inequalities among indigenous and Afro-descendant sectors, despite the implemented social policies. The methodology is correlational, utilizing data from the National Employment, Unemployment, and Underemployment Survey (ENEMDU) in Ecuador and the Family Budget Survey (POF) in Brazil. Additionally, a review is conducted on ethnic and economic inequality, as well as previous studies addressing the situation of indigenous and Afro-descendant communities in both countries. The results indicate that despite the implemented social policies, the living conditions of indigenous and Afro-descendant populations, among other ethnic groups, have not significantly improved.Item Paridad de género en la política: experiencias de las y los candidatos de la parroquia Tarqui durante las elecciones seccionales 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-18) Lojano Zhingre, Elian Marcelo; Abad Cisneros, Angélica IsabelThis final thesis studied gender parity in politics, taking as a background the democratic parity reforms established in 2020. The objective that guided this research is to analyze the experiences of the candidates to the parish council of Tarqui in the configuration of the electoral lists of their political parties for the sectional elections, after the electoral parity reform of 2020. The methodology used was qualitative, with a phenomenological study design and an exploratory approach. The study population consisted of the candidates of the seven lists that participated in the 2023 sectional elections. The total number of the sample was seven candidates, four men and three women. One of the main findings was that, although progress was made in gender parity, women still face barriers, where despite reforms, the integration of women into politics is still marked by authoritarian and patriarchal practices. While men have access to a more democratic selection process, women are more controlled and their decisions about inclusion in the lists depend on a few, which limits their autonomy and real participation in politics.Item La memoria colectiva en el Barrio El Vergel(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-18) Martínez Agredo, Fabián Camilo; Pacheco Lupercio, Fernanda LucíaThe city of Cuenca is home to various popular neighborhoods that constitute part of its cultural and historical wealth, with the “El Vergel” neighborhood being a clear example. This urban space is characterized by its variety of social and cultural elements, such as its relevance in identifying its traditional blacksmithing and gastronomy trades, the strong unity between its inhabitants, and its influential historical context in the city. Urban sociological studies have developed approaches to understanding the social dynamics that arise in cities and their sectors, including aspects of places of memory, neighborhood and collective memory, as well as the approach from popular culture. This study is part of the research project: “Implementation of the Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape: A methodology for the sustainable planning of the Ingachaca Urban Action Unit in the city of Cuenca,” which I joined for the development of this research. The study focuses on the analysis of how the inhabitants of this neighborhood build, maintain and transmit their neighborhood memory since it is important for the development of their identity and sense of belonging. The final degree work is carried out from a qualitative design, supported by open interviews, non- participant observation and the review of secondary documents. Finally, in view of the conglomerate of results collected, it was possible to show that the results found are developed from the places of memory, traditional trades, the Vergel festivals, its neighborhood organization, the pride of belonging to the neighborhood, family teaching as a transmission of memory, the generational conflict due to the lack of interest of young people and the process of building their memory from experiences, experience and meanings.Item Estereotipos de género en la práctica deportiva: análisis del contexto deportivo en el Centro Hábitat U en el año 2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-19) Amaya Zúñiga, Esteban Mauricio; Pesántez Franco, Melanie Sofía; Guillén Salgado, Margarita LucíaThe present study analyzes how gender stereotypes are related to the practice of physical activities and sports by men and women. The main objective is to analyze how these stereotypes influence sport development by imposing expectations about which sports are considered appropriate for each gender. These expectations limit the participation of men and women, reinforcing preconceived ideas about what activities they should practice, which restricts equal access to various disciplines and affects the way they perceive and develop their sports skills. The research follows a mixed approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. In the quantitative phase, surveys were conducted with 116 adult users of the Habitat U Sports Center, in the disciplines: Crossfit, Jiu-jitsu, Swimming, Kendo, Pilates and Taekwondo, while in the qualitative phase, 11 interviews were conducted and discipline and gender were considered. The results of the research showed that gender stereotypes, such as the association of certain sports with masculinity or femininity and the underestimation of women's physical abilities, influence the practice of sports by perpetuating inequalities and limiting participation in different disciplines. Such is the case of the Pilates discipline which groups 14% of users and the majority are women, 75% compared to 25% of men; or the case of the Taekwondo discipline which, although it groups only 9% of users, the majority are men, 64% compared to 36% of women. Changes were found in disciplines such as Crossfit, which has 22% of users and most of them are women, 60% compared to 40% of men.Item La construcción de la feminidad en adultas mayores: análisis desde las narrativas de mujeres de la tercera edad en el año 2023 en la ciudad de Cuenca, Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-18) Delgado Sacaquirín, Adriana de Rosario; Encalada Calle, Daniel AlbertoThe following thesis aims to analyze the construction of femininity in older women in relation to the symbolic order of the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. This research, with a descriptive- explanatory scope, employs a qualitative methodological approach, a phenomenological design, and in-depth interviews as the primary research technique. These methods have allowed for a deeper exploration of the subjective meanings of being an older woman through their lived experiences. The results indicate that, although femininity is shaped by patriarchal logic and is directly associated with the characteristics, values, roles, and behaviors assigned to women in both personal and shared spaces, there is room to discuss an alternative form of femininity. This alternate femininity emerges during the aging process, driven by the agency of older women, who resignify their identities and roles based on their experiences, contexts, and personal histories.Item La transversalización del enfoque de sostenibilidad en la Universidad de Cuenca: Un caso de estudio(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-17) Cadmen Ortega, Steven Mateo; Cárdenas Sánchez, Johanna Michelle; Sucozhañay Calle, Dolores CatalinaSustainability has become a shared need in society due to the manifestation of multiple problems in the different spheres in which human life develops. Here, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been a guide in raising awareness of Higher Education Institutions about sustainability, however, the current scenario shows that we are halfway to meet the SDGs proposed for 2030. Over time, a critical stance has emerged on how to exercise sustainability in higher education, where one way to achieve it is to mainstream the sustainability approach in universities, covering five spheres: society, economy, environment, culture and governance. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze the process of mainstreaming the sustainability approach at the University of Cuenca, focusing on the development of the Strategic Sustainability Plan. In addition, we will examine the factors that influence positively and negatively, the lessons learned and challenges of this process. The study was conducted through a qualitative approach with a simple-holistic case study methodological design. Data collection included semi-structured interviews and a documentary review and a thematic analysis was performed. With the present study, a detailed analysis was obtained on the process of mainstreaming sustainability at the University of Cuenca with reference to the construction of the Strategic Sustainability Plan that was carried out and is in the process of approval. In addition, the main factors that have positively and negatively influenced the development of the PESUC were identified, along with the lessons learned and challenges. At the same time, a guide was generated based on the recommendations provided by the members of the Sustainability Strategic Committee of the University of Cuenca who were interviewed, which were useful to enhance the incorporation of sustainability in higher education.Item Percepción de estudiantes de la Universidad de Cuenca sobre la participación de las mujeres en la política, 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-13) Astudillo Criollo, Katherine Johanna; Guamarrigra Loja, Gabriela Michelle; Paño Yáñez, Pablo JoséThis research addresses the perceptions of students at the University of Cuenca about women's political participation at the local level, analyzing students from the faculties of Medical Sciences, Jurisprudence and Engineering. It seeks to understand the stereotypes and prejudices that influence their perceptions and how these factors may affect their vision of gender equality in the political sphere. Different types of political participation, the concept of gender as a social construct, gender equality, political and symbolic violence against women are explored. While it is not intended to generalize, it seeks to provide insight into the perception of university students and their role in promoting women's political participation. The problem lies in the fact that, despite advances, women's political participation continues to be low globally and in Latin America. There is a historical inequality of power between men and women in this area, perpetuated by a patriarchal vision that considers men to be better leaders. The university, as an educational space, can have an impact on students' perceptions of politics and the role of women, and therefore it is important to know to what extent this is the case. This research employs a descriptive, exploratory and comparative methodology, since it seeks to obtain an initial understanding of students' attitudes towards women's political participation processes, comparing different career groups. The results of the research will help us to understand the level of information that male and female students have about women's political participation and will show whether cultural factors intervene in the formation of their perceptions. Information will be collected through semi-structured interviews and non-participant observation.Item Incidencia del internet en el desempeño académico de los y las estudiantes de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-12) Cabrera Montero, Viviana Estefanía; Siguencia Ortiz, Sandra Vanessa; Paño Yáñez, Pablo JoséThe Internet is a global network that has evolved over the last few years, generating changes in our society, including the academic field, playing a central role in the teaching-learning processes. The Internet and new information and communication technologies (AI) have experienced a notable increase, reconfiguring society around technology, the media and access to information. That is why this study has as its main objective to know the impact of the use of the Internet on the academic performance of students at the University of Cuenca in the period 2024-2025. In addition, to identify the main uses of the Internet for academic and non-academic fields, explore the uses of artificial intelligence tools in teaching-learning processes and determine the impact of their use on the academic performance of students at the University of Cuenca. Methodologically, the research was guided by the phenomenological design, with a qualitative approach. Data collection involved: semi-structured interviews and focus groups with students and teachers. A content analysis was carried out using Atlas.ti software for data processing. The main findings include interpretations of the impact of internet uses and artificial intelligence tools on students' academic performance. It confirms how these tools have become an essential resource in people's daily lives, especially for students, transforming the way they communicate, learn and access information.
