The main objective of the research is to analyze the benefits and positive bonds that companion animals generate in the quality of life of these families. The type of research is qualitative, with a phenomenological approach, the scope is descriptive-exploratory and the research design is non-experimental. We worked with 15 families of the Arcapamba parish that have pets. The techniques applied included semi-structured interviews and direct observation. Bullying is a social phenomenon that negatively affects the well-being and academic performance of students, and its prevalence has increased in this institution, which has led to the need to involve parents in the search for solutions. Given that the family is the main socializing agent during childhood, it is considered that the parenting styles exercised at home can influence the behavior of children in the face of bullying, whether as aggressors, victims, or observers. The research is based on a quantitative approach and uses two questionnaires: the Parental Authority Questionnaire, which evaluates parenting styles (democratic, authoritarian, and permissive), and the Bullying Exploration Questionnaire, which identifies the role of students in school harassment situations. The sample included 154 students from fourth to seventh year of basic education, who met the consent and assent requirements to participate in the study. The preliminary results suggest that there is a significant relationship between parenting styles and roles in bullying. This study seeks to provide valuable information for the implementation of effective strategies that prevent and mitigate bullying in the school environment, involving pareItem Relación de los estilos de crianza parental con las actitudes hacia el machismo en estudiantes de Trabajo Social de la Universidad de Cuenca, Ecuador. Additionally, challenges related to the unequal distribution of domestic tasks within families were identified, affecting women directly, which in turn impacts family harmony and the balance between work, community, and personal life. A recurring issue was the lack of time, with many volunteers reporting that their commitment to the parish negatively affects their ability to attend to their families.Item Percepción de la estructura y dinámica de familias con un miembro en proceso de reinserción familiar del Consejo Consultivo de las Personas Privadas de la Libertad. Cuenca-Ecuador, periodo septiembre 2024 - febrero 2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-05) Tipantaxi Guillermo, Joseline Vanessa; Ureña Ureña, Evelyn Dayanna; Guzmán Jiménez, Alfonsina del RocíoThe research addresses the complexity of family reintegration, as families face indifference, rejection, emotional distance, hostile treatment, loss of trust, communication problems and emotional impact. In Ecuador, there is a lack of state support during reintegration, causing comprehensive problems in families. In addition, there is a lack of updated information on this process, and locally, only one study was found that highlights stigmatization and the need for effective public policies. The objective of the research is to describe the perception of the structure and dynamics of families with a member in the process of family reintegration of the PPL Advisory Council in Cuenca, Ecuador. This qualitative study used a phenomenological method. In-depth interviews were used, and the data was processed with the Atlas.ti software. The results show that families where the member in reintegration has the parental and/or spousal role have a conflictive perception as they manifest diffuse limits, rigid and hyperflexible norms, unexercised roles and unidirectional hierarchies. In contrast, families with clear boundaries, well-defined roles and balanced communication are those that perceive their environment as more favorable for reintegration. It is concluded that the perception of families in terms of their structure and dynamics will depend on the role of the member in reintegration; if this is a parent and/or spouse, the perception will be conflictive and challenging, while in families where the members in reintegration do not have these roles, their perception is complex, but conducive to their reintegration.Item Funcionalidad familiar en uniones de hecho y matrimonio en jóvenes adultos y su relación con el riesgo educativo, en estudiantes de la Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Políticas y Sociales de la Universidad de Cuenca – Ecuador, periodo marzo 2024-febrero 2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-05) Almache Ortiz, Marco Nicolás; Carabajo Cumbe, Kevin Eduardo; Guzmán Jiménez, Alfonsina del RocíoThis article examines the challenges faced by university students who are married or in a common-law union and their struggle to balance family responsibilities with academic obligations. The addiction of one or more members of the family system generates a deterioration in its functionality affecting areas such as communication, affectivity, roles, adaptability, among others. The objective of the research was to analyze the influence of addiction to psychoactive substances on the family functionality of male users of the Comprehensive Center for Addiction Treatment (CITA). Cuenca, period 2024-2025. For this, a quantitative approach was used, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. In the research, it was observed that the families belonging to the Comprehensive Center for Addiction Treatment are moderately functional, representing 53.3%, in turn 33.3% are dysfunctional families, these data are extremely relevant because they show that a person with addiction does not necessarily come from a dysfunctional family. The results obtained from the analysis between the variables family typology and the type of substance in addiction reflected important findings, such as that within nuclear families alcohol and cigarette consumption prevails, as well as the tendency for children and parents of nuclear families to continue with some type of addiction. These findings allow us to better understand the relationship between addiction and family dynamics, providing a basis for future interventions.Item Percepción sobre la estructura y dinámica familiar de las personas diagnosticadas con VIH en la ciudad de Azogues en el año 2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-07) Vicuña Medina, Cristopher Alexander; Guzmán Jiménez, Alfonsina del RocíoThis study explores the perception of family structure and dynamics among individuals diagnosed with HIV who are receiving antiretroviral treatment in the city of Azogues during 2024. Its main objective is to understand how these individuals perceive changes in their family structure and dynamics after disclosing their diagnosis. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was employed. Data collection involved in-depth interviews with seven HIV-positive patients receiving care at the Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital. The analysis was conducted using Atlas.Ti software. The findings indicate that the diagnosis elicits a range of reactions within families, from emotional support and strengthened bonds to distancing and rejection. However, in most cases, the family environment was found to be positive. The study concludes that family responses are diverse, with many successfully establishing healthy alliances, roles, and boundaries that prevent the exclusion of the individual living with HIV. Nevertheless, instances of discrimination persist, both from family members and healthcare providers. This highlights the need for psychoeducational and psychosocial interventions aimed at reducing stigma, promoting acceptance, and improving the quality of life for people with HIV and their families. Additionally, it is noteworthy that younger generations tend to exhibit more adaptive and supportive responses.Item Patrones de comunicación parental y su influencia en la funcionalidad familiar de los usuarios atendidos en el Instituto de Criminología, Criminalística e Intervención Psicosocial de la Universidad de Cuenca, Ecuador. In most cases, the father is the one who has emigrated the most, accounting for 75.9%, leaving students under the care of siblings, grandparents, or other relatives. Despite these changes, the relationship with caregivers generally remains positive, as 86.2% of students describe their bond as “good” or “excellent.”. Regarding the Family System Evaluation Questionnaire (FSEQ), the findings reveal that, although the percentages of high-risk communication with both parents are relatively low, the impact on communication with the father (24.1%) is greater than with the mother (6.9%).Item Presencia de patrones familiares en el consumo de sustancias en mujeres adolescentes dentro de Hogar Victoria en el año 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-03) Guzmán Agudo, Mayerly Isabel; León Machuca, Walter FabiánThe present study, carried out in the therapeutic community 'Hogar Victoria', used a qualitative approach based on grounded theory to analyse the findings in depth. The research identified a clear correlation between the development of problematic substance use and various family conflicts that affect the relationships between adolescents and their parents in the different family subsystems (parental, maternal and filial). It also demonstrated a considerable incidence of the separation of adolescents from their parents and its impact on their overall development. It should be noted that the presence of psychological, physical and sexual violence exacerbates these effects, hindering the development of healthy social skills.Item Estilos de crianza y la funcionalidad del sistema familiar de los estudiantes de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Quingeo, Cuenca – Azuay, 2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-07) Montaleza Tonato, Priscila Soledad; Roldán Guanuquiza, Fabián Mauricio; León Machuca, Walter FabiánThe Student Counseling Department of the Quingeo Educational Unit has observed several behavioral problems of students, among which are bullying, alcohol consumption and parental neglect towards the care and upbringing of their children.
