Item Calidad de sueño de los estudiantes de décimo de educación general básica en la Unidad Educativa Particular Nuestra Familia durante el periodo académico 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-20) Yance Chérrez, Verónica Michelle; Dominguez Sacta, Rosa Elisabeth; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaSleep quality is essential for the well-being and overall health of adolescents, as it influences their physical, mental, and emotional development, as well as their academic performance and long-term physical health. In this context, the objective of this study focused on describing the sleep quality of tenth-grade students of basic general education at the Unidad Educativa Particular “Nuestra Familia” during the 2024-2025 academic period. Due to the small size of the population, the study worked with all the students, who are approximately 40. A quantitative methodology with a descriptive approach and a non-experimental cross-sectional design was used. For this purpose, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to evaluate various aspects of sleep. In addition, sociodemographic data such as gender, age, bedtime and wake-up time (on school days and weekends), and screen time were collected. The information collected was statistically analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) program. The results obtained indicate that 66% of the students had good sleep quality, with differences according to age and gender, highlighting better quality in men and adolescents aged 14 years. Going to bed early and limiting the use of screens (5-15 hours per week) will promote rest, while late hours and greater exposure to devices had a negative impact. These findings highlight the importance of promoting healthy sleep habits.Item Insatisfacción de la imagen corporal en las estudiantes de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Saraguro en el periodo 2023-2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-02-16) Tuza Malla, Luis Enrique; Piedra Armijos, Luz Maritza; Muñoz Pauta, Marco AntonioThe present study addresses the problem of body dissatisfaction in adolescents, characterized by a distorted perception of the body that emerges during the stage of puberty. This vital pase is distinguished by an intensification of internal reflection, self-examination, comparison with peers and awareness of one's own physical image and social development, factors that contribute to the emergence of dissatisfaction with the body. Consequently, emotional intelligence competencies cultivated during this period emerge as valuable assets for the effective management of emotions. These skills not only enable the handling of inherent emotional complexities during this phase but also play a crucial role in guiding individual thoughts and behaviors. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the dimensions of emotional intelligence based on sociodemographic variables among eighth- grade students at the Unidad Educativa República del Ecuador in Cuenca during the 2023-2024 period. The study employed a quantitative approach, employing a non-experimental, cross- sectional, and descriptive design. The participants consisted of 77 students in the evening session of eighth grade in General Basic Education. The instruments utilized included the Wong-Lang Emotional Intelligence Scale in Spanish and a sociodemographic data sheet. As a result, there was moderate development in the dimensions of emotional intelligence, except in the assessment of others' emotions. Finally, there were distinct scores in emotional intelligence based on sociodemographic variables, gender, age, parallel, and family coexistence.
