This research is done through a quasi-experimental study, allowing us to know the knowledge, attitudes and practices of parents of children with intellectual disabilities, which was conducted at the Association for the Integral Development of the Child / an Exceptional Azuay "ADINEA." July to December 2009. In the period between July and September 2009, it delivers the first survey (Precaps) to parents, which were distributed in the areas of Early Learning, Elementary, Pre-shops and workshops. In the results we observed that a number of parents had more knowledge with the rest due to various factors, educational level, socio-cultural, it said it was necessary to make an educational intervention for parents of children with intellectual disabilities. It made the proposal of educational intervention that consisted of two talks, which were addressed to parents during the month of October, which addressed the main theme of intellectual disability stating his opinion, the causes, treatment, and prevention. Evaluación de la calidad de atención temprana de 8 centros de desarollo infantil fiscales para niños y niñas de 0 a 5 años de edad del área urbana del Cantón Cuenca, Cuenca enero a junio 2009

Objectives: “To evaluate the quality of the Early Attention that you/they offer eight Centers of Development Infantile District attorneys of the Urban Area of the Canton Cuenca to the children and zero girls to five years of age with delays of the development with or without disability, during the period January to June of 2009.” Method and materials: The quantitative descriptive method was used; for that which a form was used to value the quality of attention of this center, the scale was on 100 points distributed in four variables: infrastructure, process of attention, professional capacity and participation family-caretakers with a value of 25 points for variable. After having gathered the information, the obtained data they were tabulated and analyzed, presenting the results in charts of frequency; using the SPSS like statistical program. The results are good for the attainment of the Program of Improvement of Quality of Attention of Children and Girls with Dysfunctions of the Development carried out by the DIUC, being the children and girls the final beneficiaries. In the study the following percentages were obtained: The Quality of Attention of the Centers of Development Infantile District attorneys of the Urban Area of the Canton Cuenca is 12,50 equivalent% to Very Good; 37,50 equivalent% to Good and 50 equivalent% to Regulate. 50% has the Legal Registration of Operation of the Cantonal Town council of the Childhood and Adolescence. 87,50% Integrates Children and Girls with Dysfunctions of the development without disability, and 12,50% they Integrate Children and Girls with Dysfunctions of the development with Disability. Evaluación de la percepción visual a niños de primero de básica de las escuelas del sector rural pertenecientes al Area de Salud Nº 2 del cantón Cuenca

This research entitled have the objectives of: The application of the test was performed at children basic first schools in the rural parishes of Checa, Sinincay, Chiquintad and health area belonging to No. 2 in the canton Cuenca. A study of intervention, since action through the intervention sought to change the present reality. The beneficiaries will be children whose parents consent to their participation in such research. We worked with a universe of 162 children the same as those tested in groups of 10 to 12 students, of which 32 obtained a coefficient Perceptual (CP) under which it received a treatment plan for the period of 3 months of forming our Early Intervention plan. Of the 162 children evaluated 47.5% was between the ages of 64 and 72 months equivalent to 5 years 4 months-6 years, the 54.9% were female sex, most of the children belonged to the parish with a 41.4 Sinincay % and José Peralta school with 23.5%. Of the total of 162 children evaluated 40.1% obtained a coefficient significantly above the normal 40.1% and 19.8%, equivalent to 32 children was located in a low CP. By relating the variables of age and sex was found a higher percentage in the ages of 58-63 months for sex man with a 22.2% and 27.2% for the female sex at the ages of 64-72 months showed a majority in this age group. Most cases of children with a low CP was located in the parish of Sinincay with 8.0%, school José Peralta with 6.2%, sex man won the majority of cases with 11.7% and age group 64-72 months with a 11.1%. After the intervention we observe that the 32 children underwent a 71.9% CP was higher and stood at 28.1% normal.
