The underreporting of children with developmental delays and / or disabilities have hidden their true rates, however at present despite the great importance that has been giving the issue of developmental delay, with policies and programs for early intervention, prevalence data found in the study may be an indication that the access of children with developmental delays with or without disabilities to regular peripheral private institutions in our area is limited, preventing the children receive a diagnosis and timely intervention in private.Item Prevalencia de los retrasos del desarrollo con o sin discapcidad y los factores asociados en niños y niñas de 0 a 5 años de edad que asisten a 3 centros fiscales regulares del área central del cantón Cuenca, enero-junio 2009(2010-11-11) Albarracín Matute, Lorena Alexandra; Gordillo Arévalo, Elizabeth Viviana; Auquilla Díaz, Nancy Eulalia; Huiracocha Tutivén, María de LourdesThe objective of this research is to determined the prevalence of developmental delay with or without disabilities, and to describe associated factors in children of 0-5 years. Was realized a Quantitative cross-sectional Study. A sample of 57 children (universe of 143) attending three Regular Public Centers of the Central Area of the canton Cuenca (Hernán Malo, San Francisco and ANIMA), For the identification of developmental delay test was used Brunet Lezine and disability EVE guides for children 3 years and BVD for ages 3-5 years. This study found that 12,3% of children had delayed psychomotor development, 10,5% without disability and 1,8% with disabilities. In the late children there is no benefit of early intervention, didn’t meet relation to the following factors: malnutrition, abnormal head circumference (microcephaly), family type (single parent). With the data obtained may require the need to implement programs with coverage, access and quality. That offer 15 Deprive Centers of Infantile Development of the Area Urban from station of the Canton Cuenca, to boys and girls from zero to five years of age with delay of the development with or without “discapacidad”. For this investigation, we used the descriptive quantitative method, which was based on the form used by the MIES-INFA, this form is measured in to scale of 100 points, which is divided in four variable: infrastructure, process of attention, professional capacity and the family or of the caretakers participation, settling down 25 points for each variable. All at once gathered the information, the obtained dates were tabulated, analyzed and presented in charts of frequency, using the statistical program SPSS. As a result of the investigation. We can observed that only the 20,00% of the Infantile Institutions only obtained a grade of very good in the quality of early attention. Likewise 13,34%, has legal registration in Cantonal the Town council of the Childhood and Adolescence. Besides we can observed that only the 20.00% integrates boys and girls with “discapacidad”. After we have concluded the study in the centers. These results can be used to develop the "Program of Improvement of Quality of Attention of Children with Dysfunctions of the Development that is carried out by DIUC", in this plan they show up as only beneficiaries the children that belonging to these centers.Item Características de 15 niños y niñas con retraso del desarrollo psicomotor con discapacidad que asisten a los centros especiales del área urbana del cantón Cuenca: Universidad de Cuenca, Cuenca 2009(2010-11-11) Cabrera Vintimilla, Johanna Mercedes; Cordero Ortiz, María Caridad; Huiracocha Tutivén, Mirian Sofía; Angulo Rosero, Aydee NarcisaA descriptive study has been carry out where it was determined the characteristics of 0 to 5 years old children with delay of the psychomotor development with disability, among 15 children, boys and girls that attend two urban fiscal and private centers in Cuenca from January to June of the year 2009, establishing relationship with the following characteristics: malnutrition, abnormal cephalic perimeter, type of family, parents migration and type of caretaker. The test used for the evaluation of development were: the Brunet Lezine for the confirmation of the Psychomotor Development delay, the EVE guides for younger than 3 years and the BVD for ages from 3 to 5 years, to know if they fulfill the approaches of dependence. The results found were the following: 6.7% of boys and girls didn't present disability in spite of being in a special center and that same percentage presented migration of their father and the mother. in the gender the difference in percentage is minimal. The age has a medium of 30.2meses. 46.7% of the boys and girls showed under weight. 40% of the boys and girls showed low size. 13.3% showed global malnutrition; 6.7% showed microcefalia. the 86.7% were taken care by their mother, while the 13.3% were taken care by a different person. The variables in study demonstrate the situation of the studied children, many of them were presented in situation of social risk.
