One of the paradigms being broken is the conception of the visual arts as an art exclusively to be seen with the eyes. Although it may seem paradoxical, this project uses actions and elements-objects that a visually impaired person cannot see, but can perceive through their other senses. On the other hand, normo-visual people could observe, but in the context of the project they are prevented from doing so, so that their experience resembles that of blind people. In this work, several actions and elements-objects are intertwined to form an artistic installation in the field of Contemporary Art. As main objective, the interest lies in promoting spaces of inclusion through the planning and development of a Contemporary Art Laboratory, this proposal is to develop an experimental artistic product of inclusive character with a research component, which allows us to reach our secondary objective, which is to know the communicative scope of the proposed multisensory art installation, perceived by a group of young people with visual impairment and normo-visual people of the city of Cuenca.Item La comercialización de la salud está presente en el arte: salud, dinero, (des)amor...(2008) Torres Ortiz, María Marlene; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínItem Cómo leer en un bus y no perderse entre líneas?(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-07-19) Rendón Reinoso, Ana Belén; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínThe article exposes the process of immersion, research and conceptualization of the project: How to read on a bus and not get lost between the lines?, where praxis itself acts as a methodology, typical of relational artistic practices. Another substantial phase consisted in managing the meeting with young students of school with whom it was interacted based on the illustrations and the dialogue centered in the knowledge and information of the krokodil. The work suggests to the viewer to question how the different forms of control greatly affect the behaviors and decisions of individuals. We get used to the devices according to their statutes constituted from a factory, becoming addicted to them, with no place for sustained and critical reflections on their interference in daily life. There are latent risks.Item La pastora y el deshollinador: libro álbum ilustrado(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-06-22) Merchán Cordero, María Daniela; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínThe picturebook became an important tool when trying to develop a linking for reading, since the middle decades of the last century, because it entertains at the same time it educates the reader, in a simple way. Addressed to children, young people and adults, it’s obvious that the public that benefits from this literary and artistic product is variated. By combining the written word with the visual image, it becomes an attractive resource to awake a certain curiosity for trying to re signify symbols. This project tries to take advantage of the historical investigation about the picturebook, that origins from children illustration, analyzing its most important artistic references and counterparts; to create a picturebook that recreates the children’s story The Shepherdess and the Sweep, by Hans Christian Andersen, in an Ecuadorian context. The final artistic product will try to rescue one of many literary works that had been neglected by the current public, giving it a fresh look to this “old” story; also, trying to recreate characters, sceneries and circumstances that will relate, in a subtle way, with the current Ecuadorian people.Item La ventana como dispositivo de relación: propuesta de espacio ampliado en pintura(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-04-28) Calle Torres, Rafael Santiago; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínThe present research proposes a set of parameters for the production of artifacts as an alternative for spatial expansion in painting, which is understood as an area that is redefined beyond its materiality and support. The means presented for this purpose seek to evidence contemplation and exploration as active operations for the recognition of the aesthetic experience behind the languages and motives of an artistic work. We started from an experimental production that advances hand in hand with a bibliographic research on the window as an element and pictorial motive for the disposition of the observer to the study of reality captured under an aesthetic intention. The objects presented are the result of the exercise of the constructivist theory of creativity, evident by their formality, which invite the viewer to a more active inquiry and selection.Item Me he suicidado: violencia de género en Cuenca del siglo XIX exponiendo a Fray Vicente Solano y a la poetisa María Dolores Veintimilla(2013) Chin Cali, Polivio Israel; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínIn the nineteenth century, Ecuadorean women experienced a period of submission and isolation, without the right to study and to be respected by men who used to manifest patriarchal attitudes, which were rather an arbitrary, sexist and demeaning expression against the cultural proposals of women. One example was the Cuencan priest Fray Vicente Solano, who insulted and marginalized María Dolores Veintimilla de Galindo in order to isolate her from the high society. This action was conducted together with the hypocritical and saintly Cuencan society, making their victim feel so intimidated that she committed suicide just because the shameful intellect of that authoritative priest could not admit that a woman could be involved in literature or to disagree with the conservative traditions of the Cuencan people. With this background, as a nonconformist attitude it was decided to express our thoughts by using contemporary visual languages and changing the name of Fray Vicente Solano Avenue to M. Dolores Veintimilla Avenue using stickers to be pasted on such street signs. This artistic task aims to condemn those famous people who, in spite of their positive influence, hurt us by means of their power and social status. This work has been developed through field research; a deep reflection on our history is expectedItem Metáforas del cuerpo como espacio de ritual y memoria plástica(2014) Cruz Pinos, Silvia; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínThis project embraces an investigation which turn around to importance of memory conservation, how to man-age personal transitions through evocation of objects. Moreover, it is based in the investigation of diverse rituals where the hair and blood have a strong symbolic value.Item Nadie: río del tiempo archivero de la lucha del agua del Azuay(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-07-19) Paredes Tacuri, Juan Carlos; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínNADIE: Río del Tiempo - Archivero de la lucha del agua del Azuay is an investigative work on artistic proposals that generate other forms of human relationships proposed by Relational Aesthetics, resignified through the contributions of relational antagonism and artistic activism (artivism). The main objective of this work is to develop a collaborative project of flexible relational art together with the environmental group Yasunidos Guapondélig, according to their interests and needs, for the construction of a narrative about the history of the struggle for water in the province of Azuay. The proposal consists of the compilation and systematization of cultural products, memories, activists’ documents and the creation of a mobile installation/ performance, generally known as a mobile artefact. This device functions as an exhibition platform for the consumption of cultural products and archives that make visible the most representative actions developed by the group within the framework of resistance. This in turn seeks to generate meeting spaces and appropriation of public space. In this way, it hopes to demonstrate that artistic forms and creative tools of art are effective in generating other forms of human relationships, both affective and spatial, within communities of activists and defenders of water and non-exclusive spectators of public space. At the same time, it is a hybrid strategy of art and activism that makes visible the fight for the defense of water and territory in Azuay.Item Parodia al consumo en la sociedad, utilizando la contra-publicidad y la manipulación de los lenguajes, medios publicitarios y los espacios públicos de forma artística(2013) González Zhindón, Miguel Eugenio; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínIn the present research it is parodied the consumption in society, using the counter-advertising and the manipulation of the languages, media and public spaces, in an artistic way. A theoretical study is carried out and a practical way to irrational consumption objects by society, influenced by mercantilist systems that use commercial advertising with their languages, brands, products, which beguile us and influence to appropriate its objects, many and varied. As an example, we see advertisements of cell phones exposed by mobile phones. Also, how some artists use advertising language critically, parodic and rebellion against the system of consumption , participating, taking out of context, using common and everyday objects by moving them to an artistic and counter-advertising inspired by pop - art and the Dadaism . Hacking a billboard, in public spaces, participating as suggestive canvas, is an effective way to get your message to more people at the same time it shows how society is immersed in a world of unbridled consumption of objects. For that reason it is proposed to parody on a billboard, located in Azogues, those messages of mobile phones, using their own messages, logos and advertising slogans, with a character that invites reflection and claim to societyItem Prácticas suicidas: una revisión del cuerpo performático desde la resistencia física(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-07-30) Coka Pizarro, Daniel Fernando; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínSuicidal Practices: a review of the performative body from physical resistance, presents in its first part, a brief approach on performance, then an analysis of possibilities of representation resulting from contexts on action art in the history of art. This works has been selected based on criteria and concepts of artists who use pain or physical resistance. The author understands the "suicidal practices" from the voluntary risk of using the body as a tool of political art. The political is understood within this research as the approaches of resistance, (denunciation, catharsis and irruption) that, from the meta-narrative as personal discourse, culminate in a breakdown of the researcher's works, which understand and make visible the interests and debates on heteronormativity, violence, pain, body, in the series called Cain in the showcase.Item Propuesta visual contemporánea para una renovación estética del tratamiento pintoresquista de los caficultores en Loja(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-01-15) Auquilla Betancourt, Anghelo Davis; Álvarez Palomeque, Julio EfraínWithin the Loja cultural imaginary, coffee farming practices are victims of a distorted perception, due to an iconography that sweetens and idealizes them, very far from agricultural reality, in a globalized world that gives preference to the merely visual associated with the market. Faced with this problem, the work Pictorial Aromas proposes to enrich the typical picturesque and advertising vision in the representation of Loja's identity coffee growing practices, from an intimate and supportive focus on the process. To this end, a set of artistic pieces is proposed through realistic painting, with representations in which the coffee growers are the main actors, where their work, experiences and routines are highlighted in the construction of new iconography. The imaginary is reconstructed with landscapes, spaces and objects closely linked to the real world of the protagonists. An aesthetic experience is provided by immersion of the viewer in the real world of Loja coffee growing, through the addition of visual resources that include the coffee itself and objects of the cultural trousseau as compositional materials of the works, and environmental resources such as the characteristic aromas that awaken evocations and desires, while composing a new visual aesthetic, no longer exteriorist and picturesque, but from within the processes represented, with a style that does not disdain the nod to primitivism with which great masters of art history, in other times, They surpassed the iconographies increasingly standardized by the market, never from evasion, always from social commitment.Item Realismo y Abastractismo(1988) Álvarez Palomeque, Julio Efraín; Beltrán Lazo, Alejandro
