Item Adicción a redes sociales y autoestima en adolescentes de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Fiscal Remigio Romero y Cordero en Cuenca, en el período 2022-2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-10-27) Alvarado Argudo, Jessica Paola; Marca Peñaloza, Verónica Paulina; Cabrera Vélez, María MarcelaAdolescence is a vulnerable stage due to the different risk behaviors that are carried out with the purpose of experiencing new sensations, such as obtaining recognition and acceptance from peers. This is why, in modern times, the use of social media networks has become something essential for adolescents due to the benefits they obtain. However, inappropriate use could trigger an addiction, which may be associated with low self-esteem. Therefore, this research had the general objective of describing the scores of addiction to social networks and the levels of self-esteem in high school adolescents. The approach was quantitative with a non-experimental design and a descriptive scope. The participants were 75 adolescents from 14 to 18 years old from an Educational Institution in the city of Cuenca. The instruments that were applied were: the Social Networks Addiction Questionnaire (ARS) and the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (EAR). The results obtained showed that adolescents presented low scores of addiction to social networks and the predominant dimension was excessive use of social networks. While the levels of self-esteem of adolescents stand out for being medium (36%) and high (36%). It is concluded that adolescents do not present addiction to social networks and have adequate levels of self-esteem.Item Niveles de depresión y apoyo social en estudiantes de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Remigio Romero y Cordero en el período lectivo 2024 – 2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-21) Criollo Romero, Yoely Karolina; Ortiz Vivar, Xiomar del RocíoThe objective of this study is to determine the levels of depression in high school students of the Remigio Romero y Cordero Educational Unit in the 2024–2025 school year. The methodology has a quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive approach. The sample is 80 students from first to third year of the Unified General Baccalaureate (BGU) program. The instruments applied correspond to a sociodemographic survey, Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) to measure levels of depression and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) evaluated perceived social support in three dimensions: family, friends and significant people. The results obtained are based on the levels and dimensions of each of the variables, it was possible to characterize the sample studied, which is predominantly male. The age range is between 13 and 19 years old. Through the results, it can be observed that the majority of students present a mild level of depression, as indicated by the Beck inventory. This level of depression, although within a low range, is not clinically significant in the context of this inventory, suggesting that depressive symptoms, at the moment, are not serious or disabling. However, it is essential to highlight that the slight presence of these symptoms should not be ignored, since, although they do not reach a critical level at this time, they can evolve over time if appropriate measures are not taken.
