The study had a quantitative approach with a transversal descriptive scope and non-experimental design. 39 users participated, to whom the Trait Meta Mood Scale-24 was applied (TMMS-24) and a sociodemographic sheet. The investigation determined that the greatest Part of users present optimal levels of emotional intelligence, with the exception of dimensions of emotional attention, which could cause users to develop maladaptive behaviors, avoiding maintaining substance abstinence psychoactive. For these reasons, it is stated that this type of intelligence is a fundamental pillar in the treatment of addictions.
