Item Estrategias de afrontamiento ante situaciones de estrés académico en estudiantes foráneos pertenecientes a la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-19) Maldonado Ramírez, Gissela del Cisne; Flores Garzón, Viviana Pamela; Luzuriaga Vásconez, Washington GermánAcademic stress is a physical, emotional, and mental response experienced by students in reaction to academic demands perceived as challenging or excessive, which affect their well being and performance. This phenomenon is prevalent among university students, especially those who live far from their place of origin. In this context, coping strategies emerge as key tools to effectively deal with stressful situations. The aim of this study was to describe the predominant coping strategies in response to stressful situations among foreign students at the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Cuenca during the 2024-2025 period. The study adopted a quantitative, descriptive approach, working with a sample of 117 students. Data collection instruments included the Coping Strategies Inventory (CSI) and the Academic Stress Questionnaire (CEAU). The results revealed that students with high levels of academic stress, particularly in situations related to academic obligations and future prospects, predominantly use strategies such as problem-solving and wishful thinking. In conclusion, the findings emphasize the need to develop specific interventions that promote the use of adaptive coping strategies among foreign students to mitigate the negative effects of academic stress and improve their overall well-being.
