The results of this research are very important because in the application of tests aimed at resistance (1000 meter test); strength (long jump test); speed (400 meter test, 20 meter test, CODA test); and flexibility (sit and rech test), we were able to identify the performance that a soccer referee must have to carry out their arbitration work, as well as the existing correlation between the tests that allow verifying the benefits provided by the use of these testsItem La Cultura física adaptada a niños con discapacidad mental del Instituto psicopedagógico Agustín Cueva T. de la Ciudad de Cuenca(2003) Brito Parra, Jorge Eduardo; Astudillo Calle, ManuelItem Determinación del somatotipo de jugadores de voleibol categoría pre-juvenil varones y damas pertenecientes a la Federación Deportiva del Azuay(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-03-12) Dávila Ovaco, Víctor Fabián; Velasquez Pasato, Freddy Oswaldo; Brito Parra, Jorge EduardoThe present research is situated under the anthropometry field, linked to volleyball; having as a main aim the determination of the volleyball players’ somatotype in the pre-juvenile category, men and women, belonging to Azuay Sports Federation, all based on the game position they belong to. The research is a descriptive observational study of quantitative approach with twenty-two subjects from which ten people are male and twelve people are female, of age between fourteen to sixteen years old. For the measuring and obtaining of results was used the restricted profile protocol of ISAK (Stewart, Marfell-Jones, Olds, & De Ridder, 2011); the somatotype was determined by the Heath-Carter method, with help of Microsoft Excel Software in which was entered the seventeen measurements and obtained the values of the three components of the somatotype, to then classify them according to the corresponding game position. As a main general result of the research, was known that the main component that predominates is the endorphin, followed by the mesomorphism and ectomorphism which lightly variates according to the game position and the gender.Item Determinación del somatotipo de nadadores de alta competencia de la provincia del Azuay categoría senior(2019-06-28) Guamán Villazhañay, Jenny Esperanza; Zhunio Carchipulla, Pedro Rafael; Brito Parra, Jorge EduardoThe main objective of the present investigation was to analyze the somatotype and body composition of high-competence swimmers in the province of Azuay. In order to comply with this, a methodology framed in the positivist paradigm with a quantitative approach, descriptive level and non-experimental design was selected. cross-section supported by a field type investigation, where 7 swimming athletes (5 male and 2 female) that coincided in the open water modality were studied, for the data collection anthropometric materials were used to measure the different diameters , folds and perimeters under the technique of Heath-Carter, with the support of a Plicómetro of brand Cescorf endorsed by the ISAK; From the application of the protocols and the calculations of the corresponding formulas, it was obtained that most of the competitors under study have a robust body composition with mesomorphic endomorphic, endo mesomorphic somatotypes, with tendencies to the adipose tissue predominance, which differs from the anthropometric profile of elite athletes internationally. Although the swimmer Esteban Enderica presented a body composition and somatotype with similar characteristics which implies greater possibility of reaching a high level.Item Determinación del Somatotipo en Patinadores de Carreras de la Provincia del Azuay, Categorías Pre-Juvenil, Juvenil y Sénior(2017) León Chumbi, Carolina Priscila; Brito Parra, Jorge EduardoThe main objective of this research was to determine anthropometric measurements, somatotype and components of body composition such as: percentage of body fat, body mass index (BMI), and summation of folds in racing skaters in the province of Azuay. This descriptive study was quantitatively assessed following the ISAK protocol, to a total of 24 race skaters, 15 women and 7 men, who compete nationally and internationally, performing measures of weight, height, skin folds, perimeters, diameters and basic measures. The Heath-Carter somatotype and percentage of fat was obtained using the Carter formulas. Pearson correlations were also found among the different results. Results: in the somatotype by category, specialty and genre, in flooders: Pre juvenile (males are meso - ectomorph and females are central), Juvenile (men have balanced mesomorphism and women are endo - mesomorphic), Senior (males are meso - ectomorphic and females are endomorph - mesomorph). In sprinters: Pre juvenile (females are endomorph - mesomorph), Juvenile (males are meso - endomorphic and females are endo - mesomorphic), Senior (males are meso - ectomorph). The BMI of the group in general, according to the Consumers Union and their interpretation (19 -25: healthy weight), is within the healthy range. The percentage of fat in men according to the specialty and sport is within the appropriate range which is from 5% to 10%. The percentage of fat in pre juvenile and senior women, according to the table presented by Malangón de García in 2005, is within the excellent range (>18%). The percentage of fat in juvenile women are within the good range which is 18% to 20%.Item Efectos de las pausas activas sobre la atención, el rendimiento académico y el nivel de actividad física en niños y adolescentes escolarizados(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-05-06) Lucero Hurtado, Katherine Maricela; Rodríguez Andrade, Eduardo Felipe; Brito Parra, Jorge EduardoThe aim of this research is to analyze the results from studies to evaluate the effects of active breaks on students’ attention, academic performance, and the levels of physical activity (PA). That is why, through preliminary research, the papers for the analysis were found in 6 different data bases (Sport Discus, Doaj, Ebsco, Google Scholar, Pubmed, Dialnet, Scopus). Moreover, only articles published between 2006 and 2020 were selected and analyzed. Thus, a total of 17 studies accomplished the proposed criteria. The studies used both physical activities as well as cognitive ones. These activities lasted about 5-15 minutes. Furthermore, the activities related to academic content and physical activities raised students’ attention. The intervention time was no less than 9 weeks; and even by doing 6-minute activities, the academic performance was effective for those subjects that do not require physical effort. Nonetheless, some other studies showed no achievement in activities that lasted about 5 minutes. Finally, it is valid to mention that activities from moderated intensity to vigorous ones helped to raise the PA levels. Hence, these outcomes show the importance of time and the type of physical activity when applying active breaksItem Efectos de un programa de ejercicio físico en la condición física de personas drogodependientes del centro de rehabilitación CREIAD(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-03-01) Calle Arcentales, Claudia Berenice; Avila López, Nicole Dayana; Brito Parra, Jorge EduardoStudies on condition and physical activity in drug addicts and alcoholics are recent, therefore, there is little research within the Ecuadorian territory. An attempt was also made to verify whether these profiles and their relationship with physical activity and intention to be physically active remained stable in Spanish, Colombian and Ecuadorian adolescents. The sample consisted of 2670 students aged 12 to 16 (M = 14.30; SD = 1.66), from different schools from Madrid, Armenia, and Cuenca. The results show that there are three motivational profiles: Low-moderately motivated, highly motivated-low ego, and highly motivated. The data analysis also showed that the highly motivated profile had the highest score both in physical activity and in the intention to practice it, followed by highly motivated-low ego, and low-moderately motivated profiles. The characteristics of both profiles —as well as the relationships established with dependent variables— remained stable in the samples of the three countries. As a conclusion, highly motivated profile showed higher levels of physical activity and intention to be physically active in the future. There were similarities between adolescents from the different countries.Item Nature relatedness as a potential factor to promote physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior in Ecuadorian children(2021) Escandón Dután, Samuel Adrián; Van Dyck, Delfien; Cardon, Greet Maria; Salvo, Deborah; Fiebelkorn, Florian; Andrade Tenesaca, Dolores Susana; Ochoa Avilés, María Cristina; Garcia Garcia, Ana Angelica; Brito Parra, Jorge Eduardo; Alvarez Alvarez, Mario; Ochoa Avilés, Angélica María; Molina Cando, María JoséBackground Nature relatedness can be associated with health-related outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the associations of nature relatedness with physical activity and sedentary behavior. Methods A cross-sectional study involving 9–12 year old children living in Cuenca, Ecuador, was conducted between October 2018 and March 2019. Questionnaires were used to evaluate physical activity (PAQ-C), out-of-school sedentary behavior, nature relatedness and wellbeing. Associations of nature relatedness with physical activity, and sedentary behavior were evaluated using linear regression models or tobit regressions adjusted by age, sex, school type, wellbeing, and body mass index z-score. Results A total of 1028 children were surveyed (average age:10.4±1.22 years, 52% female.). Nature relatedness was positively associated with physical activity (β = 0.07; CI 95%: 0.05–0.09; p < 0.001) and non-screen-related sedentary leisure (β = 3.77 minutes; CI 95%: 0.76–6.68; p < 0.05); it was negatively associated with screen time (β = -5.59 minutes; CI 95%: -10.53–0.65; p < 0.05). Conclusions Findings suggest that nature relatedness is associated with physical activity and some sedentary behaviors among Ecuadorian school-age children. The promotion of nature relatedness has the potential to improve health.Item Prevalencia del síndrome de Burnout en árbitros profesionales de fútbol de la provincia del Azuay(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-11-22) Brito Criollo, Lenin Ricardo; Brito Parra, Jorge EduardoBackground: Refereeing professionals are among the group that accumulates the most stress during sports competitions due to the functions they perform. This stress can cause negative psychological and somatic effects on health; therefore, they may experience Burnout syndrome. It consists of 22 affirmative items about the professional's feelings and attitudes in their work; For the statistical analysis, the IBM SPSS statistical program version 25 was used. Results: The High level of Burnout is 28.9%, affecting 11 participants of the investigated population.Item Programa de iniciación al voleibol basada en la hibridación de modelos y sus efectos en la coordinación óculo-manual y agilidad en escolares de 10 a 12 años(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2025-10-29) Caisabanda Lema, Lisbeth Alexandra; Cango Japón, Pablo Alexander; Brito Parra, Jorge EduardoPhysical Education (PE) is a fundamental pillar in the integral development of children. The principles of Hybridization of Pedagogical Models (HMP) represent a teaching approach that differs from traditional methods by positioning the student as the main actor in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the effect of a volleyball initiation program through the implementation of two pedagogical models: Sports Education (SE) and Comprehensive Sport Education (CSE) on hand-eye coordination and agility in schoolchildren. A pre-experimental design with causal scope was used, involving 36 seventh-grade students from Basic General Education (EGB), aged between 10 and 12 years. A Hybrid Didactic Unit (HDU), based on the SE and CST models, was applied over 12 weeks (21 sessions of 90 minutes each). To determine the intervention’s effect, a dependent-samples t test was performed with a significance level of 5%. Results showed significant improvements in both hand-eye coordination and agility. It is concluded that pedagogical hybridization in the context of Physical Education can be effectively applied to strengthen physical-motor performance when structured, progressive, and contextualized strategies are used.Item Propiedades psicométricas de la (BPNES) adaptada a la Educación Física en Argentina, España y Colombia(2018) Franco, Evelia; Coterón López, Javier; Gómez, Valeria Maribel; Brito Parra, Jorge EduardoThe main goal of this study was to examine the extent to which psychometric properties from the Basic Psychological Needs in Exercise Scale (BPNES) are invariant across samples of Argentine, Spanish and Colombian physical education students. The questionnaire was distributed to 1153 students (44.6% male) from ages 13 to 16 (M = 14.68; SD = 1.09). Confirmatory factor analyses carried out in independent samples revealed suitable psychometric properties in the three samples. Multi-sample confirmatory factor analyses showed that factor structure, factor loadings and intercepts can be considered invariant across the groups. However, residual variances were found to be different across some of the samples. Findings are discussed in terms of internal consistency and differences observed between the three samples. Findings support valid cross-cultural comparisons using BPNESItem Relación del contenido de clase de educación física y la participación docente con el nivel de actividad física extracurricular en adolescentes de 10-12 años(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-01-17) Medina Chávez, Stalin Miguel; Brito Parra, Jorge EduardoThe main purpose of this research is to examine, using reliable and valid instruments, the relationship between the physical education curriculum at Unidad Educativa Santa Isabel and the amount of extracurricular physical activity among students aged 10 to 12 years. To understand how students' participation in physical education (PE) courses is related to their overall levels of physical activity, this study used a quantitative strategy based on a cross- sectional observational design. A total of 117 students from the sixth, seventh and eighth grades of the GBS program of the Santa Isabel Educational Unit participated in the research. A non-probabilistic sampling strategy was used for the study. The PAQ-C questionnaire was administered to evaluate the levels of PA (Physical Activity) after having used the SOFIT instruments to evaluate the course material, student activity and instructor commitment. Therefore, it is concluded that successful methods for increasing participation in physical activity in and out of school can be developed and proposed when a thorough understanding of the connection between physical education courses and daily physical activity in and out of school hours has been achieved.
