Abstract: | The Non-Linear Static Analysis (Pushover) simulates the seismic action by applying a pattern of
lateral loads, through this analysis we can determinate the maximum capacity of the structure and
compare it with the design load. Therefore, a Pushover analysis improves the quality of the design,
providing the engineer with a more reliable prediction on the performance of a system that is under
design or research. Currently, there are commercial and free-use programs that perform nonlinear static
analysis, in which a load is applied and it increases in magnitude until the structure can no longer
resist. At this point, the stiffness of the structure is zero or may even be negative. Until this phase, a
load could be applied and the displacements could be obtained with the force method. However, having
a singular or negative define matrix, it is not possible to apply this method because it is necessary to
apply a displacement method. That is why the objective of this research is to develop the complete
curve of the nonlinear analysis of a structure, verify it by means of existing softwares that perform
this analysis, and develop an academic example in which the methodology used is explained in detail.
The results obtained will provide an information base to understand the simulation and analytical
methodology of the real behavior of the structure. |
