Abstract
The present study has as its main objective to analyze the relationship between parental parenting styles and the roles that students play in bullying situations at the Educational Unit.
Bullying is a social phenomenon that negatively affects the well-being and academic performance of students, and its prevalence has increased in this institution, which has led to the need to involve parents in the search for solutions. Given that the family is the main socializing agent during childhood, it is considered that the parenting styles exercised at home can influence the behavior of children in the face of bullying, whether as aggressors, victims, or observers. The research is based on a quantitative approach and uses two questionnaires: the Parental Authority Questionnaire, which evaluates parenting styles (democratic, authoritarian, and permissive), and the Bullying Exploration Questionnaire, which identifies the role of students in school harassment situations. The sample included 154 students from fourth to seventh year of basic education, who met the consent and assent requirements to participate in the study. The preliminary results suggest that there is a significant relationship between parenting styles and roles in bullying. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo principal analizar la relación entre los estilos de crianza parental y los roles que desempeñan los estudiantes en situaciones de bullying en la Unidad Educativa. El bullying es un fenómeno social que afecta negativamente el bienestar y el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes, y su prevalencia ha aumentado en esta institución, lo que ha llevado a la necesidad de involucrar a los padres en la búsqueda de soluciones. Dado que la familia es el principal agente socializador durante la infancia, se considera que los estilos de crianza ejercidos en el hogar pueden influir en el comportamiento de los niños frente al bullying, ya sea como agresores, víctimas u observadores.La investigación se basa en un enfoque cuantitativo y utiliza dos cuestionarios: el Cuestionario de Autoridad Parental, que evalúa los estilos de crianza (democrático, autoritario y permisivo), y el Cuestionario para la Exploración del Bullying, que identifica el rol de los estudiantes en situaciones de acoso escolar. La muestra incluyó a 154 estudiantes de cuarto a séptimo año de educación básica, quienes cumplieron con los requisitos de consentimiento y asentimiento para participar en el estudio.Los resultados preliminares sugieren que existe una relación significativa entre los estilos de crianza y los roles en el bullying.
