In addition, addiction to social networks and the Internet can be related to personality dimensions, that is, the traits of a certain personality dimension cause an individual to find more or less satisfaction when using social networks and the Internet frequently. For this reason, this research aimed to identify the relationship between personality dimensions and the risk of addiction to social media and the Internet in adolescent students from the Ciudad de Cuenca High School in the period 2022 in the city of Cuenca. A study was carried out with a quantitative approach, cross-sectional and correlational. We worked with 94 participants of which 51 were women and 43 were men between 16 and 17 years of age. The Revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire was applied to measure the variable of personality dimensions and the Risk Scale for Addiction-Adolescents to Social Media and the Internet to measure the variable of addiction to social media and the Internet. As result, it was obtained that the percentage of people at risk of internet addiction was minimal compared to the total number of participants. It was also found that psychoticism is the predominant dimension in students and a positive average correlation was found between the Extraversion dimension and the Risk of Addiction to Social Networks and the Internet. It is concluded that addiction to Social Networks and the Internet is a problem that should be prioritized, so prevention plans should be developed in which personality dimensions can be considered as the central axis.Item Inteligencia emocional y resiliencia en pacientes drogodependientes del Centro Especializado Hacia una Nueva Vida en el cantón Cuenca-Azuay, periodo 2020-2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-05-13) Aguirre Coello, Andrea Alexandra; Macas Cartuche, Xiomara Anabel; Clavijo Castillo, Ruth GermaniaEmotional intelligence and resilience are important elements for a harmonious development of the persons, these elements allow adapting to society in a functional way. However, in the drug dependent population due to the use of psychoactive substances, all this leads to inappropriate lifestyles, producing a bad biopsychosocial function. The aim of the research work was to describe emotional intelligence and resilience according to sociodemographic variables in drug-dependent patients of the Specialized Center “Hacia una Nueva Vida” in Azuay-Cuenca (2020-2021). It also intended to identify the dimensions of emotional intelligence and the resilience factors that predominate in the same population according to sociodemographic variables like age, time of use, income from relapse, schooling and drug use. The study is based on a quantitative, cross-sectional approach, with a type of non-experimental design and a descriptive scope. 60 drug-dependent patients from the specialized center “Hacia una Nueva Vida” participated in the study. As research instruments, a sociodemographic record was applied, the WLEIS-S Emotional Intelligence Scale and the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale. The results identified medium levels of emotional intelligence (IE) and low levels of resilience in the patients. The most prevalent dimension of emotional intelligence is use of emotions and the factor of resilience is selfconfidence. In conclusion, IE and resilience are two factors that could have influence in the development, maintained or extinction the addiction.
