Item La discriminación racial en la niñez media(2016) Quinde Idrovo, Boris Rodrigo; Abril Mogrovejo, Felipe AdrianoThis research was conducted with the participation of boys and girls aged 7-11 years. They are students from the Hector Sempertegui School in the city of Cuenca. The purpose of the study was to identify racial discrimination in children of these ages. The research carried out is within the mixed qualitative-quantitative paradigm and was carried out with the authorization of their legal representatives. As a research tool, a structured interview was used, while safeguarding the identity of children, as validated in other research. Its application aimed to collect information necessary to meet the objectives. The information obtained was transcribed and analyzed using the Excel 2007 program. The most significant results point to a high level of racial preference, with less stereotypes and prejudices towards the white doll, while the black color allocated more prejudices and stereotypes.Item Espiritualidad y bienestar subjetivo en adultos mayores institucionalizados. Cañar 2016(2017) León Domínguez, Marcia Catalina; Abril Mogrovejo, Felipe AdrianoLife expectancy’s increase and Ecuador´s demographic transition, lead to the investigation of spirituality as a determinant factor in the subjective well-being of institutionalized older adults. The present quantitative, non-experimental descriptive cross-sectional study analyzes the spirituality and subjective well-being variables in 29 older adults of 3 almshouses in the province of Cañar using the WHOQOL-SRPB and the Diener’s life satisfaction scale. All participants claimed to practice Catholicism; and prevails a high level of spirituality and satisfaction with life. The most punctuated domains within the spirituality were Faith and Spiritual strength; and the less scored were Acceptance and Totality and integration. A high level of spirituality has positive effects on the elderly’s quality of life, which supports the use, consideration and respect of spirituality in clinical practice as a resource for offering well-being. Spirituality is considered a source of hope, comfort and well-being, religious beliefs provide strength to stressful events in the elderly institutionalized in gerontological centers in the Cañar province. The participating geriatric population is highly satisfied with their lives, which implies a high level of subjective well-being.Item Imagen corporal y trastornos alimenticios en mujeres artistas de escenario de la ciudad de Cuenca(2017) Chimbo Dután, Jessica Eliana; Abril Mogrovejo, Felipe AdrianoThis research aims to analyze whether possible alterations of body image exist and which of them are the most frequent dietary behaviors in female stage artists of the city of Cuenca. The sample is composed of 40 actresses, 40 dancers and 20 models, having a total of 100 participants. The method of investigation was of quantitative approach, exploratory and descriptive scope to refer the studied variables. Two instruments were used to collect the information: the first one was the EDI 2 test that analyzes the possible eating disorders in the population and the second one was BSQ test that qualifies the alterations of the body image. Its results were processed and analyzed using the following programs: IBM SPSS Statistic version 23, and Excel 2016. Results: The population presents slight alterations, 34% of the population is above cut-off point. As for the most frequent dietary behaviors we found the fear of maturity with 65% of the population above average, followed by impulsivity with 45% and finally with then perfectionism with 40%. All these behaviors occur more frequently in the population of dancers, actresses and models of the city of Cuenca. Conclusions. This population presents neither eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, 34% of the population responds to alterations of the body image disorders. However, these artists demonstrated risky behaviors such as fear of maturity, impulsivity, perfectionism and interpersonal mistrust, which can lead a high risk for future alterations.Item Prevalencia de tipos de trastornos de ansiedad en pacientes con trastornos por consumo de sustancias, Cuenca 2016(2017) León Rodas, Luis Miguel; Piedra Vázquez, Paúl Andrés; Abril Mogrovejo, Felipe AdrianoThis investigation had as a fundamental purpose to determine the prevalence of types of Anxiety Disorders in patients with Substance Use Disorder who went to Hospital Psiquiátrico Humberto Ugalde Camacho– Centro de Reposo y Adicciones (CRA) between April and December of 2016. It was performed a transversal - descriptive research with a quantitative approach, for which was applied the structured diagnostic interview MINI (mini international neuropsychiatric interview), which is used for exploring the main psychiatric diagnoses of the DSM - IV as well as the CIE 10. This study was realized out with 133 participants, most of them male, who attended to CRA in the form of internment, external consultation and/or support group Fénix. The results obtained show that patients with Substance Use Disorder have a prevalence of Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia.Item Soledad y aislamiento en adolescentes que usan redes sociales(2018) García Asitimbay, Andrea Estefanía; León Merino, Esteban Fernando; Abril Mogrovejo, Felipe AdrianoThe purpose of this research was to identify levels of loneliness and isolation in 394 male and female adolescents between the ages of 15 and 18 who use social networks. The study was conducted with the population of the following educational institutions: "Unidad Educativa Turi" and "Colegio Técnico Industrial Ricaurte", which belong to the rural area of the Cuenca canton. This study maintained a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional approach, with a descriptive scope that allowed detailing the variables of the study object. The instruments used in the research were the solitude and isolation questionnaire (CAS) and the social network addiction questionnaire (ARS). The data collection was carried out in the educational institutions and their subsequent analysis in an SPSS matrix. The results show that most adolescents use social networks every day for at least one hour. Likewise, it was found that there is a high risk of addiction to social networks and low risk of presenting loneliness and isolation. In conclusion, it was shown that adolescents who presented a high risk of addiction to social networks also show a tendency towards lonelinessItem Violencia en las relaciones de noviazgo de jóvenes universitarias(2015) Avilés Hurtado, Estefanía Alexandra; Parra Contreras, Adriana Cristina; Abril Mogrovejo, Felipe AdrianoViolence in dating relationships is an important topic because it existence as well as the consequences that this entails, we have only empirically; that is why our research arises from the need to obtain data that allow us to demonstrate a clear and objective reality. The main objective of this research is to characterize the violence in dating relationships in university students in the city of Cuenca; which will allow us closer to knowing this reality linked to gender violence and violence in general, while verifying how common these practices are in a relationship. The research developed model is within the quantitative paradigm, with exploratory and descriptive scope, the same that was executed in the urban area, at the institutional level, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cuenca. 224 women whose age was between 18 to 25 years were studied. The responses were recorded using a Likert scale measuring violent behavior in dating. Finally the answers were grouped into three types of events: physical violence, psychological violence and coercive and controlling behaviors. Finally we could conclude that violence, one way or another, is present in some of the dating relationships of university students, turning into a situation that should generate concern necessary and appropriate by the entities related to the topic of violence, because it constitutes a fundamental step in the socio-emotional development in humans, as a way to implement loving interactions that subsequently give rise to the formation of families, it is essential that they are as healthy as possible.
