    Evaluación de niveles de Vitamina D en pacientes post cirugía bariátrica que acuden a consulta privada en la ciudad de Cuenca, periodo marzo 2023 - enero 2024

    Obesity is a factor that contributes to micronutrient deficiency, such as vitamin D, adding to the deficit that exists when a patient undergoes bariatric surgery. Given that vitamin D deficiency can lead to cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, and immunological diseases, it is important to prevent its deficiency through proper supplementation. Objective: To evaluate vitamin D levels in post-bariatric surgery patients who received private treatment in the city of Cuenca from March 2023 to January 2024. The present research was descriptive-cross-sectional, retrospective, so data from December 2022-January 2023 were used. Data collection was anonymized and recorded in a database, which contained relevant information such as age, gender, BMI, type of surgery for each patient, and serum vitamin D levels. The analysis was conducted using the free software SPSS v29. The results obtained were presented in simple and double-entry tables, detailing the levels of vitamin D in relation to these variables, utilizing descriptive statistics such as measures of central tendency (median and mean) and measures of variability (standard deviation). Results: Vitamin D levels in post-bariatric surgery patients were evaluated. Out of the 30 patients (100%), 10% presented deficiency, while 53.3% showed insufficiency, which could lead to the development of cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, and immunological dysfunctions
