    Seguridad alimentaria de los hogares de Piñas en tiempos de COVID 19: una mirada desde la percepción, acceso y consumo, Ecuador 2021

    Background: Lifestyle and nutrition have been affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic, several households worldwide over the years have experienced food insecurity (FI), so it is estimated that the COVID-19 pandemic increased the number of households that have difficulty in having and accessing safe food to meet their energy requirements. Therefore, this research seeks to know how the pandemic influenced the food security (FS) of households in the Piñas canton and to open doors for the implementation of strategies to improve the situation found. Objective: To analyze the levels and dimensions of food security in households in the urban and rural areas of Piñas canton 2021. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study. The study was conducted in 140 households in the urban and rural areas of Piñas Canton. For the analysis of the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic in the FS, information was collected through the application of food surveys, socioeconomic level and the Latin American and Caribbean food security survey. Results: There are higher percentages of AI with respect to FS in Piñas canton. Most of the households are at a typical medium socioeconomic level. In addition, a large part of the population has a deficient food consumption. Both urban and rural areas have 32% of FS and 54.2% of AI.
