Abstract
This study aims to identify the impact of Covid-19 on unpaid work at home in the Hermano
Miguel parish, in Cuenca. For this, a survey and a structured interview were applied to the
residents of the parish. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS and ATLAS TI
programs, in addition to being triangulated to corroborate their relationship with the theory
obtained through the literature review. The results indicated that women were responsible for
most of the domestic activities and that the workload was perceived as higher. Likewise, the
men of the household became partially involved in household chores after the pandemic. The
present investigation allowed to show that the gender inequality that manifests itself through an
unequal distribution of labors continues to be present in the parish Hermano Miguel of Cuenca,
despite finding a change within the family dynamics.
Resumen
Este estudio pretende identificar el impacto del Covid-19 sobre el trabajo no remunerado en el
hogar en la parroquia Hermano Miguel, en Cuenca. Para ello, se aplicó una encuesta y una
entrevista estructurada en los pobladores de la parroquia. Los datos obtenidos fueron
analizados mediante los programas SPSS y ATLAS TI, además de ser triangulados para
corroborar su relación con la teoría obtenida mediante la revisión de literatura. Los resultados
indicaron que las mujeres fueron las responsables de la mayoría de las actividades domésticas
y que la carga de trabajo fue percibida como mayor. Igualmente, los hombres del hogar se
involucraron parcialmente en las tareas del hogar a partir de la pandemia. La presente
investigación permitió evidenciar que la desigualdad de género que se manifiesta mediante una
desigual distribución de labores sigue estando presente en la parroquia Hermano Miguel de
Cuenca, a pesar de encontrarse un cambio dentro de las dinámicas familiares.
