Ansiedad y estrés en estudiantes de la Carrera de Agronomía de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-2025

Abstract

Background: Anxiety defined as a vague diffuse fear, centered on “anxious expectation”; academic stress is defined as a physiological and behavioral activation reaction to academic stimuli and events. These problems are present among Agronomy students due to the very nature and demand of the career. Objective: To determine the level of anxiety and stress in students of Agronomy at the University of Cuenca, 2024 - 2025. Methodology: The study is a transversal analytical study, the instruments applied were: Hamilton Scale and SISCO Inventory. The data collected were transcribed in the statistical program SPSS v 24 and Excel. Frequency tables and percentages were used for the categorized qualitative and quantitative variables, as well as measures of central tendency. Results: A total of 213 students of Agronomy participated in this research, the prevalent age range was under 20 years; 55.9% female; 97.7% single; 35.2% belonged to the first cycle. The level of mild anxiety is the most frequent 50.7 % and 70.3 % present moderate stress; older than 20 years present greater anxiety 50.7 %, while younger than 20 years present greater stress 50.9 %; female sex shows greater anxiety 55.9 % and greater stress 57.4 %; first semester is where anxiety 35.2 % and stress 34.3 % predominate. Conclusion: The results obtained in the present investigation show that the students of Agronomy of the University of Cuenca present a level of mild anxiety 50.7% and moderate stress 70.3%.
