Repensando la movilidad urbana en el área de primer orden del Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Cuenca en el contexto de la crisis sanitaria provocada por la COVID-19

Abstract

The First Order Area of the Historic Center of the city of Cuenca groups together a large number of main services, equipment and economic activities, aspects that constitute fundamental pillars in its urban development, both in terms of mobility and in the interactions of its inhabitants, faced with the current health crisis due to COVID - 19, the need arises to identify criteria that allow an adequate comprehensive urban mobility and thus rethink the pedestrian, vehicular and alternative transport movement in the Historic Center during the development of the pandemic in 2020. This research applies a qualitative methodology to collect information from different actors that recognize the problems raised regarding the area of study. A SWOT analysis is applied, which allows to identify the strategies that impact on urban mobility in the Area of First Order of the Historic Center. The results reveal the policies, actions and preferences in relation to the means of transport during the health crisis and the alteration in levels hierarchical mobility (pedestrians, cyclists, transport public, freight transport and private cars and motorcycles). Concluding in actions that address three strategic axes: road culture and vehicular traffic, public space, and alternatives to transport.
