Abstract
When the COVID-19 pandemic began, education moved to the homes of students and
teachers and there were many challenges that had to be assumed: the prioritization of work
with digital tools, the lack of knowledge and access to electronic devices, the strong
psychological impact of isolation, among others. Around the world, in Latin America and
Ecuador, there has been research on working with educational platforms and other websites
during the pandemic, as well as the strategies used by teachers to teach their respective
subjects. Based on this background, the objective of this research will be to determine the
educational platforms used during and after the pandemic to address reading and writing in
the Octavio Cordero Palacios Educational Unit. For this we will use a mixed methodology,
case analysis on the qualitative side, and statistical analysis, on the quantitative side. For data
collection we will use interviews with teachers of Language and Literature, and a survey of
two groups of students of the Second year of Unified General Baccalaureate. In this way, we
will determine the advantages, disadvantages and success of the educational platforms
employed in the educational unit, both during and after the pandemic.
Resumen
Cuando empezó la pandemia de COVID-19, la educación se trasladó a los hogares de los
estudiantes y docentes y muchos fueron los retos que debieron asumirse: la priorización del
trabajo con herramientas digitales, la falta de conocimiento y de acceso a los dispositivos
electrónicos, el fuerte impacto psicológico del aislamiento, entre otros. Alrededor del mundo,
en América Latina y en el Ecuador, se han registrado diversas investigaciones sobre el trabajo
con plataformas educativas y otros sitios web durante el marco de la pandemia, así como
también las estrategias empleadas por los docentes para impartir sus respectivas
asignaturas. Con base en estos antecedentes, el objetivo de esta investigación será
determinar las plataformas educativas empleadas durante y después de la pandemia para
abordar la lectura y la escritura en la Unidad Educativa Octavio Cordero Palacios. Para ello
emplearemos una metodología mixta, análisis de caso por el lado cualitativo, y análisis
estadístico, por el lado cuantitativo. Para el levantamiento de datos se emplearon entrevistas
a docentes de Lengua y Literatura, y una encuesta a dos grupos de estudiantes del Segundo
año de Bachillerato General Unificado. De esta manera, se determinó las ventajas,
desventajas y el éxito de las plataformas educativas empleadas en la unidad educativa, tanto
durante como después de la pandemia.
