Abstract
This study develops a kit of modular physical didactic prototypes, based on Design Thinking and manufactured through digital fabrication technologies, to strengthen practical learning in subjects related to the Industry and Production area of Industrial Engineering. The research was supported by a PRISMA 2020 systematic literature review, a student survey, and semi- structured interviews with faculty members, in order to identify needs associated with the connection between theory and practice, the availability of physical learning resources, and the observable representation of production processes. Based on these findings, QFD was applied to translate the voice of the user into technical design criteria, prioritizing modularity, ease of use, accessible digital fabrication, simulation of real processes, and self-explanatory interfaces. As a result, two main prototypes and one complementary module were designed and manufactured: a modular assembly line with digital timers to record station times and analyze bottlenecks; a Lean Manufacturing module with Kanban cards and Andon beacons to represent visual control, WIP, and Pull logic; and an adjustable modular ergonomic station to study reach zones, micromovements, and method improvement. Validation was carried out through pilot tests, observation instruments, time records, brief surveys, and photographic evidence. The results made it possible to verify the initial operation of the prototypes, their ease of use, and their relevance for representing technical concepts of Industrial Engineering. It is concluded that the kit constitutes an initial platform for practical experimentation, replicable and adaptable to different subjects in the area.
