Gaining a deep understanding of past anomalous events is essential for planning, adaptation, and mitigation of the impact of similar events in the future. Climate time series contain valuable information about these patterns, but analyzing and interpreting significant deviations requires advanced analytical tools. Although established methods exist for anomaly detection in time series, they often lack enriched contextual interpretation. The absence of this contextualization limits the practical value of anomaly detection for informed decision-making and anticipating future scenarios. This work proposes a process that integrates anomaly detection techniques in time series with the incorporation of contextual information from textual sources. Statistical approaches, machine learning, deep learning, and large language models are used to identify significant deviations in historical precipitation data. The detected anomalies are complemented with relevant information extracted from news sources through a manual and semi-automated process, and are stored in a structured relational database. Additionally, a numerical and visual similarity analysis is implemented to compare anomalies with one another, enabling the identification of recurring patterns over time and providing a more comprehensive un derstanding of extreme climate events.Item Análisis de rendimiento de un clúster HPC y, arquitecturas manycore y multicorer(2017) Guamán Rivera, Brayme Lino; Solano Quinde, Lizandro DamiánCurrently the tendency to obtain a large amount of computing, is through parallel computing, a clear example lies in the fact that the fastest computers in the world are clusters for high performance computing, formed by accelerators and multiprocessors. HPC clusters offer an important computational capacity to solve high computational cost requirements, in areas such as: weather prediction, machine learning. However, to achieve optimal performance is necessary to analyze their requirements, such as: communications, parallelization platforms. The objective of this study is to analyze the scalability of the climate prediction model WRF in HPC clusters based on inter-node communication and MPI processes; and the performance of the Horizontal Diffusion algorithm on XeonPhi and TeslaKepler accelerators, using OpenCL and CUDA. The results show a dependence of the scalability of the WRF with communications, since; a maximum acceleration was obtained for InfiniBand FDR of 25.9, QDR 21.42 and Ethernet 6.4 times more than sequential execution. The accelerator Tesla K40m shows a performance 6 times greater than XeonPhi, since the algorithm does not efficiently use vectorization Intel property, in addition Intel OpenCL drivers for its architecture manycore, they are deprecated. OpenCL has a higher learning curve than CUDA due to its multiplatform properties, in terms of performance CUDA shows a 6% improvement since it is oriented to NVIDIA GPUs, and has configurations that improve the performance, on the other hand OpenCL is not very affected by its multiplatform property, and is an option to consider if the requirements are oriented towards portability.Item Análisis de requerimientos para el desarrollo de aplicaciones para dispositivos móviles(2007) Urgilés Verdugo, Marcela; Parra González, Luis OttoItem Análisis del impacto del reconocimiento facial en el enganche del jugador en videojuegos: un estudio de caso(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-09-25) Alvarado Suárez, Kevin Mateo; Armijos Goercke, Santiago Ariel; Granda Juca, María Fernanda; Parra González, Luis OttoNowadays, facial recognition—and particularly emotion recognition through facial expressions— has gained importance in various fields, including video games. This research focused on developing an adaptive Flappy Bird-style game prototype aimed at analyzing how automa-tic emotion detection can enhance player engagement by dynamically adapting the gaming experience. The study was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, a non-adaptive pro-totype was created to collect interaction data and facial expressions. A convolutional neural network was trained using the DAiSEE dataset to identify affective states, while DeepFa-ce detected basic emotions. The collected data was compared with the Game Experience Questionnaire (GEQ) to find useful patterns for adaptive design. In the second phase, a new prototype with real-time adaptation mechanisms was built, based on the previously esta-blished relationships. This system adjusted game variables such as speed, difficulty, and visual/auditory stimuli according to the player’s emotional state. Experimental results sho-wed that the adaptive version significantly improved engagement levels compared to the non-adaptive version. These findings demonstrated that integrating emotional recognition techniques with artificial intelligence is an effective approach to enrich human-computer in-teraction and opens new possibilities for designing emotionally responsive video games.Item Análisis e Identificación de trayectorias de movilidad y modos de transporte utilizando datos de GPS(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-03) Barros Pacheco, Jorge Nicolás; Reinoso Gómez, Mateo Francisco; Auquilla Sangolquí, Andrés VinicioPopulation growth has increased global traffic, intensifying greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, the detection of transportation modes is crucial for identifying how people move in urban areas and designing strategies to reduce reliance on private vehicles. However, this process faces certain challenges, such as accurately differentiating between transportation modes with similar movement patterns, the multimodal nature of many trips, and the need for additional sensor data, which limits its applicability. To address these challenges, we have developed an automatic method for detecting transportation modes using GPS data through a supervised algorithm that analyzes travel characteristics. This document describes the methodology, from the development and implementation of the model to validation by mobility experts, including an analysis of mobility patterns through an interactive dashboard. A key finding is the automation of trip labeling using specific rules for each mode of transportation, which enables the construction of a machine learning model capable of determining the mode of transport. Additionally, the segmentation of trips allows the identification of walking segments to isolate single-mode trips and facilitate classification. Finally, the creation of detailed features from GPS points, such as speeds and accelerations, improves results even in simple models. For future research, it is recommended to add more features such as altitude, apply the process to more diverse datasets, and explore other supervised algorithms.Item Análisis y diseño de la red de área local de la Empresa Eléctrica Regional Centrosur C. The purpose of the web system to implement, is to keep an indispensable network resource when generating the distributive, along with the elements it involves (teachers, users, courses, classes, types, dedications, fees and schools / units) , all through a web client, so that in this way, the user can access the system from anywhere with internet access. Therefore, the system must have a login for the user to access the interface that corresponds. The utility of the system is to maintain a register of teachers with all the information that it implies, as well as distributional records that are generated in each semester, all this in an orderly and interactive, so that at any now you can have access to the required information. This way you will have better monitoring and control of both resources that interact with the distributive, as well as records to be stored, a problem that is not currently controlled. The system will have the ability to be configurable, so that any user Administrator can add, edit or delete information concerning the distributive resources required (Types, Dedications, Schools, Fees, Courses), as needed.Item Análisis, diseño e implementación de un componente de software que soporte el método Dharma(2015) Pesántez Mosquera, Andrés Israel; Carvallo Vega, Juan PabloThe present study analyzes, develops and implements a software component that brings a support the different activities of DHARMA (Discovering Hybrid Architectures by Modelling Actors) method. The incorporation of this component has the finality of brings to the software analysts a function serial that let them use the four activities of DRHAMA method based in i* models in an easy way. The component will be available in a web page therefore the analysts can use it with an Internet connection and a web navigator. The utility of this component is considerable, because it lets users to apply the DHARMA method to many organizations at the same environment of work. The analysts can reuse the information of the organizations and simplify the work when they want to model a new organization. The software component also lets the group work, so many analysts can model one organization at the same time. All this in an easy and simple way of model organizations, optimizing the work of the analysts.
