Item Relación entre consumo de alcohol con sucesos de vida estresantes y estrategias de afrontamiento en estudiantes de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-2016(2017) González Maldonado, Rosana de Lourdes; Aguilar Sizer, Mónica Elisa; Torracchi Carrasco, Aldo MateoObjective: To determine the association between alcohol consumption, stress reduction coping strategy and stressful life events experienced in the last year in students of the Social, Humanities and Arts education area of the University of Cuenca. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional analytical study. A datasheet for the collection of socioeconomic data, Vital Events Scale or Life Events, Adolescent Coping Scale (ACS) for adults and questionnaire for the identification of Alcohol Dependence Disorders was applied to 319 university students: AUDIT. In the statistical analysis frequencies and percentages were used; Contrasting the hypothesis with bivariate analysis and binary logistic regression to complement the multivariate analysis. The data were collected directly from the students in the faculties of the areas of Social, Humanities and Arts and analyzed in the SPSS program. Results: In the study students of the Faculties of Economy (25.4%), Philosophy (18.2%), Psychology (8,8), Arts (11,9%), Jurisprudence (20,4) and Hospitality 15.4). 45.6% were men, the average age was 21.15 years with ED of 1.59; The prevalence of alcohol consumption among youngsters was 54.2%. The variables that were significantly associated with problematic alcohol consumption among the young were: sex in which the men had a value of p = 0.000 (95% CI 2,256-6,058), the life event where "Complications in a fight" Are considered with a value of p = 0.031 (95% CI of 1.094-6.307) and the coping strategy known as Stress Reduction showing a value of p = 0.004 (95% CI of 1.259-3.498). There was no relationship between risky or problematic consumption with ethnicity, or family models with which young people live, as well as the presence of considerable levels of stress that may generate risk association. Conclusions: There is a relationship between alcohol consumption and the coping strategy known as stress reduction in young people during the last year
