Item Metodología para la creación de aplicaciones tecnológicas que aportan a la mejora de las funciones cognitivas de atención y memoria en adultos mayores no institucionalizados(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-10-14) Arias Ochoa, Jefferson Hernan; Arteaga García, Emily Judith; Cedillo Orellana, Irene PriscilaIn recent years, the population of elderly people has been increasing; hand in hand with this growth new technologies have appeared to improve the quality of life of this population group. Many of the older adults have both physical and cognitive diseases, the latter being one of the most important for researchers because they work with functions such as memory, language, reasoning, attention, and processing speed. In the present document, a new methodology called ADE2 has been proposed for the creation of technological applications with emphasis on serious games. This allows to contribute to the improvement of cognitive functions of attention and memory in non-institutionalized older adults. In other words, software developers can create serious games for these cognitive functions effectively and efficiently using the ADE2 methodology. Finally, to show the viability of the solution, a quasi-experiment has been carried out following the steps of the ADE2 design phase. The proposal was tested by a sample of twenty-two engineers corresponding to technical areas, from which results were obtained that validate the solution and provide information for future implementations.Item Propuesta metodológica para la creación de cápsulas de aprendizaje para adultos mayores(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-04-16) Gomez Jaramillo, Daniel Eduardo; Cedillo Orellana, Irene PriscilaEducation is a universal process that acts on humans throughout their existence, including their ageing stage. In this sense, older adults can learn, communicate, and exchange information through technological applications. However, learning platforms often do not consider specific requirements and special needs of the elderly. Therefore, it is necessary to have technological methods and tools that allow the creation of software artifacts, so that this population sector can acquire knowledge according to their learning needs. In contrast to the considerations presented, this work proposes a method for creating learning capsules for older adults, applying concepts of Software Engineering, with instructional aspects in microlearning field. For this approach, a systematic review of literature with an emphasis on technologies, methods, and tools in this area is presented in advance, with the aim of highlighting the current state of research. In addition, to show the use of this proposal, the creation of a learning capsule is presented, which indicates general measures for the prevention of COVID-19 in older adults. This capsule has been represented by means of a mobile application. Finally, two empirical evaluations have been carried out through a quasi-experiment aimed at Software Engineers and a case study aimed at older adults, with the aim of analyzing user perceptions about the methodology and the learning capsule built respectively, obtaining promising results.
