Item Filosofías de gestión de la producción(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017) Moura Jardim, Eduardo Galvão; Sarmento Costa, RicardoThe main objective of this article is to reflect on three philosophies of production management that have evolved over the years and remain in the interest of organizations from different sectors of society. They are known internationally by the expressions LEAN, ToC (Theory of Constraints) and SCM (Supply Chain Management). Its origins, concepts, characteristics and central differences are reviewed here shortly. In this sense, the aim is, firstly, to align perceptions and to identify the dynamic contemporary life scenarios that give them more and more importance for the prosperity of the business. It should be noted, however, that the success and maintenance of such philosophies in a given system depend decisively on the decisions, skills and behavior of those operating it at different hierarchical levels. Although not being the panacea for solving all the evils of a company, LEAN, TOC or SCM and their implementation and use tools have been adapted to different circumstances with different emphases and denominations. Examples of such situations are finally cited as a concrete indication that the efforts made in this regard by the corporations involved have been helpful.
