Item Relación entre el estilo de vida y estado nutricional en los adultos mayores que asisten al Hogar de los Abuelos Cuenca 2017(2018) Arias Gárate, Andrea Carolina; Célleri Tamayo, Tamara Daniela; Vintimilla Rojas, Daniela AlejandraOBJECTIVE To determine the corelation between lifestyle and nutritional status of the members of the elderly foster care home “Hogar de los abuelos” Cuenca, (2017). METHODS AND TECHNIQUES A quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional - correlational study will be performed from November 2017 until May 2018. The methodology utilized for the assessment of the nutritional status of the elderly individuals will be based of the nutritional status obtained by means of the anthropometric measurements (weight, height, BMI). To determine the lifestyle profile, Health promoting lifestyle profile (HPLP II) - Adult version survey (The Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile HPLP II, de Walker Volkan, Sechrist y Pender, modificada por Díaz R, Márquez E, Delgado R.) will be completed by each participant. The information gathered will the analyzed to determine the influence of elderly individuals’ lifestyle on their nutritional status. The information will be tabulated using the software SPSS V15.0; Microsoft Excel 2016 will also be used to illustrate the results in tables and graphs. RESULTS The population was conformed of 73.8% of females and 26.2% of males. The data showed that 62.3% of elderlies have inadequate nutritional status due to either weight deficit or weight excess and 37.7% of them have an adequate nutritional status. It was determined that there is a significant relationship between the nutritional status and the lifestyle of the elderly who participate in the research (r = 0,29). General objective: Determine the nutritional status of elderly people in the nursing homes. Specific objectives: Analyze the nutritional status by measuring weight, heigh, BMI and performing biochemical test such as hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum protein; diagnose the nutritional composition of their diet; qualify the staff in charge of the food preparation; design a Food Guide for seniors. The measurements for the anthropometric evaluation were: weight, heigh, Body Mass Index (BMI); proven biochemical test were run: hematocrit, hemoglobin, total proteins and their fractions. The results from 129 diagnosed elderly people were: 74,4% women and 25,6% men; 42,6% older than 84 years old; 50,7% are single; 53%receive monthly visits. Regarding their nutritional status, the incidence of malnutrition is 61,2%.About their health conditions – diseases: 27,1% suffer diabetes; 26,4% high blood pressure; 46,51% musculo-skeletal disorder; 20,15% digestive system diseases; 7.8% mental conditions; 33,3% other type of medical conditions. Biochemical test: 29,5% low hemoglobin and hematocrit count; and 91,5% have values between the reference ranges of the total protein test.Item Valoración del estado nutricional e intervención dietética en adultos hipertensos del área número 2 - Barrial Blanco, Cuenca período 2011-2012(2012) Quinde Rivera, Adriana Katherine; Vázquez Cueva, María Cristina; Cordero Pesántez, Karla Elizabeth; Palacios Santana, Gicela Monserrate; Palacios Santana, Gicela MonserrateObjective: Determine the nutritional condition and intervene in the diet of Hypertensive Adults, who are attending to the Health Center located in the Area Number 2-Barrial Blanco, Cuenca period 2011-2012; using the anthropometric valuation, dietary inquiry, arterial pressure measurement and providing DASH Diet. Method and Materials: For the investigation, it had been used the action-intervention descriptive study, which has been performed from April 2011 to February 2012. The study was made with 96 Hypertensive Patients who take part in the nutritional programs. For data processing, it was performed at the beginning and at the end of the investigation nutritional inquires which were previously validated. Through this investigation, it was identified dietary practices, attitudes and level of knowledge about food in Hypertension. The results were analyzed using SPSS Windows 11.5 Software, Excel 2007 and FP2. Results. The patients remained overweight in 45% of cases. Despite of this, the 63.54% of the people achieved weight loss. The Hypertension rates decreased whereas the normality went up of 11%, which can’t be attributed certainly to the effects of diet because 99% of patients were taking antihypertensive medication. In addition, there was a reduction of 25% in the intake of sodium and there was an increase of 24% in the intake of lean meat, 23% of low-fat milk, 8% of vegetables, 6% of nuts and seeds, 4% of fruits, and 2% of beans. This has improved the levels of calcium, potassium, and magnesium which are minerals that play an important role to prevent the effects of the Hypertension complications.Item Valoración del estado nutricional mediante el test mini Nutritional Assessment en adultos mayores ingresados en el Hospital Homero Castanier Azogues en el periodo julio-noviembre 2017(2018) Iglesias Argudo, María Alicia; Medina Pacheco, Marcela Caridad; Vintimilla Rojas, Daniela AlejandraMalnutrition in elderly adults affects the patient’s recovery as well as his/her quality of life, becoming a frequent health problem in hospitalized patients. General Aim: To value the nutritional status of elderly adults admitted in Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital, Azogues, in the period of July-November 2017. Methodology: It is about a cross-sectional, descriptive study where 107 people, older than 65 years old, were included. The nutritional status was valued by applying the MINI NUTRITIONAL ASSESSMENT (MNA) TEST. The data was processed using the statistic program SPSS, and the tables and graphics were modified in Excel 2016. Results: The study was conducted with the same number of men as women. It was found that 58.9% were at risk of malnutrition, 34.6% had a bad nutritional status, and 6.5% had a satisfactory nutritional status. According to the MNA, there were no differences in the nutritional stratification between men and women. The age range with more prevalence of malnutrition was from 76 to 80 years of age. 53.3% showed dementia or moderated depression, 42% of the adults ingested only one meal per day, 55.1% displayed low consumption of protein sources; in addition, 59.8% did not consume fruits nor vegetables two times per day. More than half, 50.5%, showed moderate anorexia. Conclusion: The nutritional status is related to IMC, weight loss, protein consumption, and age of the patients. Cuenca 2017(2017) Merchán Reyes, Jessica Alexandra; Muñoz Lasso, Karen Estephany; Vintimilla Rojas, Daniela AlejandraGENERAL OBJECTIVE To assess nutritional risk of autonomous non-institutionalized older adults attending "MIESpacio de Sabiduría" of the Ministry of Social and economic Inclusion. METHODOLOGY This study is a cross-sectional descriptive study was designed to describe the characteristics of the specific population, fulfilling the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. The universe was represented by 108 older adults, in which nutritional risk was assessed by applying the polls: Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA); index of summary of Physical Activity Survey YALE, and registration forms that includes information such as socio-demographic, economic status, cardiovascular risk and presence of chronic diseases characteristics. RESULTS The population was represented by 78% female and 22% of men, the prevalence of nutritional risk was a percentage of 78.7%, compared to a normal adequate nutritional status of 19.4% and malnutrition with a value of 1.9%. Also it was demonstrated the Association of nutritional risk factors such as the level of instruction, demonstrating increased risk in incomplete statement or without instruction with 58.2%; cardiovascular risk with 55.6%: socio-economic level with low resources with 41.7%; sedentary lifestyle with 61.1% and presence of chronic diseases with 53.7%.
