It was determined that 24% of the beneficiaries corresponded to the age group of 55 to 64 years, of which 77% were men. 57% came from rural Azuay, of which 62.6% had primary schooling. 100% presented Neurosensory Hearing Loss. According to the logoaudiometría, only 1.3% of patients presented a level of comprehension between 81 and 100%, whereas, 24% presented an understanding level of 0 to 20%. Only 7% of adaptations were performed in both ears. Reflecting that 53.3% of beneficiaries were satisfied and 26.7% were regularly satisfied with hearing aids.Item Determinar la capacidad auditiva en conductores de la compañía de transporte Ricaurte S.A. Cuenca 2017(2017) Abril Orellana, María Verónica; Rodríguez Brito, Alexandra Katherine; Ortega Mosquera, Paola Gabriela; Vintimilla Rojas, Daniela AlejandraBACKGROUND: The hearing is an important and fundamental system that allows the acquisition and development of the language in the human beings. The language offers to the human beings the capacity of communication and social participation, favoring the interaction of the same ones inside the cultural group to which they belong. Different factors can alter the hearing of a person, between them the exhibition to the constant noise and of high intensity. The drivers of urban transport are exposed every day to the noise. The level of intensity and the time of exhibition to the noise of the vehicles that they lead they generate alterations in his health, being the hearing one of the most affected and less studied organs of this population. For what is important to know the prevalence of auditory alterations that can generate the exhibition to the noise. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the auditory capacity in the drivers of the company of urban transport “Ricaurte S.A" of the city of Cuenca 2017. METHODOLOGY: This study is descriptive transverse court. The universe of study includes the drivers of the company of Urban Transport "Ricaurte S.A " of the city of Cuenca that corresponds to 90 patients of masculine sex, in ages between 25 to 60 years. The group of study was realized subjected to and otoscopy and audiometric test, later quantify the results determining the prevalence of auditory alterations of the group of study. The results were interpreted by means of tables and graph. RESULTS: Through the application of hearing tests to the drivers of the public transport company "Ricaurte SA", it was shown that there is a decrease in hearing capacity by 40% from 21 to 40dB in the range of 20 to 40 years, while the 33% presented normal hearingItem Evaluación del nivel auditivo en niños de 6 a 7 años de las escuelas del centro del cantón Sigsig. 2017-2018(2018) Urgiléz Coronel, Estefanía Esther; Maldonado Merchán, Rosa SilvanaBACKGROUND: With the early evaluation of the hearing will give a diagnostic, which will allow timely intervention and treatment in order to avoid language problems that, which in turn cause alterations in the social-emotional development of the child. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the hearing level of students of 6 to 7 years of schools in the center of Cantón Sigsig. METHODOLOGY: Descriptive transverse court study, where hypoacusis was identified through the liminal tonal audiometry in children’s from6 to 7 years. The data analysis was performed using IBM SPSS statistics 15 software. Through Excel 2013 the tables were made with their respective analysis of frequency and percentage according to the variables of age, sex, location, degree and extent of hearing loss. RESULTS: Of a total of 84 patients who evaluates with otoscopy, 22.2 % (17) presented wax plug and 4.8% (4)infections. In the audiological evaluation with liminal tonal audiometry of 63 patients, 20.6% (13) had conductive hearing loss, 11.11% (7) for the female sex and 9.5% (6) for the male sex, according to the degree of hearing loss on 17.4 % (11) with mild hearing loss, 3.2% (2) moderate hearing loss and according to extension 11.1% (7) unilateral hearing loss and 9.5% (6) bilateral hearing loss. CONCLUSIONS: Teachers habitually confuse hearing loss with distracted and uncooperative children also do not know about the importance of a early diagnosis and treatment that will avoid problems in their schoolingItem Exploración auditiva mediante Otoemisiones acústicas transitorias en Centros Infantiles del Buen Vivir de Santa Isabel. 2017-2018(2018) García Lima, Jorge Bolívar; Zambrano Sacoto, Juan José; Palacios Coello, Ruth FabiolaAccording to statistics provided by the World Health Organization (W.H.O.), 5 out of every 1000 newborns present alterations in their hearing, which represents 5% of the world population, with about 300 new cases per year of neonates with severe hearing loss. It is estimated that in Ecuador the figures of children with hearing loss is 1500 per year. Hearing is the main sensory function for the acquisition of communication skills, which is why the research project was aimed at the realization of transient acoustic otoacoustic emissions (A.O.E.t) to know the functioning of the outer hair cells of the inner ear, which allowed inferring of possible alterations in the hearing. It is a descriptive cross-sectional study and prospective type, where the data and results for the study were obtained by performing otoscopy, and A.O.E.t. to the children who attend the Centros Infantiles del Buen Vivir (C.I.B.V.) of the canton Santa Isabel. It is a descriptive cross-sectional study and prospective type, where the data and results for the study were obtained by performing otoscopy, and A.O.E.t. to the children who attend the Infantile Centers of the Good Living C.I.B.V of the canton Santa Isabel. The universe used was 108 children, of whom A.O.E.t. was administered to 104 children; where 97% pass the test, 3% does not pass so new audiological examinations must be carried out, just as the 4 cases were not performed due to alterations in the otoscopy; therefore, it has been shown that most children pass otoacoustic emissions which allows us to infer that their hearing is normalItem Frecuencia de los trastornos auditivos en el área de Otorrinolaringología del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso de la ciudad de Cuenca, período 2002-2003(2003) Ortiz Atancuri, Gabriela; Quezada Coronel, Mirian Jacqueline; Carvajal Flor, Edgar; Santillán Bastidas, Angel EstuardoItem Frecuencia de los trastornos auditivos en el centro auditivo oral del INNFA de la ciudad de Cuenca, periodo 2002-2003(2007) Durán, Johana; Suquilanda, Jeimy; Carvajal Flor, Edgar; Santillán Bastidas, Angel EstuardoItem Método de enseñanza de labio lectura y su aplicación en sordos e hipoacusicos del Instituto Fiscal Especial del Azuay 1987-1988(1988) Alvarado Montoya, Tania Elizabeth; Neira C., Yolanda; Pesántez, Mercedes; Andino Vélez, José GerardoItem Prevalencia de hipoacusia y factores de riesgo asociados en los estudiantes de quinto a décimo ciclo de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-2016(2016) Moncayo Orbe, Johanna Paola; Zumba Illescas, Daisy Valeria; Palacios Coello, Ruth Fabiola; Ortega Mosquera, Paola GabrielaOBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence of hearing loss and associated risk factors among students in fifth to tenth cycle of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Cuenca, 2015-2016. METHODOLOGY: Descriptive cross sectional study. The sample consisted of 135 students of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Cuenca, who were applied a survey and audiological examination by audiometry. The data obtained were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS 20.00 program, and graphs and tables used in Excel 2010. RESULTS: The results obtained were as follows: Of 135 students, the 45% consisting of the male and 55% female; 95.6% with a diagnosis of normal hearing, 1.5% with mild sensorineural hearing loss, 0.7% with moderate sensorineural hearing loss and 2.2% with mild conductive hearing loss. All students diagnosed with hearing loss, are exposed to noise generated by the dental equipment, 5 days a week and 5 to 8hours daily. CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that prolonged exposure to noise generated in the dentistry practice is a risk factor that decreases the function of the auditory system. Students do not know about the importance of hearing care versus risk factors; this condition increases the probability of developing hearing loss at an early age and without being diagnosed opportunelyItem Prevalencia de la dislalia funcional en niños/as de 5 años a 8 años matriculados en primero, segundo y tercer año de básica en la Escuela Ciudad de Azogues, durante el período febrero-agosto 2012(2012) Calderón Cango, Cristhian Stalin; Quizhpi Arichábala, Luis Armando; Medina Valenzuela, Juan Carlos; Carvajal Flor, Edgar; Ron, SantiagoIntroduction: the speech and language disorders are pathology frequents in the childhood, which occupies to parents and health professionals; had a prevalence of around 5-8% in pre-school and 4% in schoolchildren, in Mexico the prevalence is 42%, and their more important is the alters in the child communication with our parents and guardians.
