Item Gestión comunitaria del agua en la parroquia rural Chiquintad del cantón Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-09-20) Viñansaca Uzhca, Evelyn Gissela; Palacios Tamayo, Estefanía PriscilaChiquintad is a rural parish of the city of Cuenca, with several natural resources, such as agricultural areas and important water sources, which supply drinking water to the parish and, to a large extent, to the urban area of the city of Cuenca. The people of Chiquintad have historically organized themselves into Community Drinking Water and Irrigation Systems to obtain and manage their water. Its administration is based on the paradigm of community water management, which in recent years has had the involvement of the public company ETAPA and NGOs such as CARE, AICCA and CONDESAN, which have generated a series of changes in community water management within the parish. Therefore, the reason for this research is to identify the changes in community management in the sectors of Santa Teresita- Saymirin and Centro Parroquial. In order to find results, documents, institutions, community and scientists were analyzed and interviews were conducted to learn about local memories and current perspectives on the new water management model. After this, the development of this work led to the conclusion that in the parish there has been a paradigm shift from community to public, where the loss of several ancestral activities that characterize the community management of the Andean peoples has been evidenced.
