Item Causas que motiva la deserción y bajo rendimiento académico de los/las estudiantes de la Carrera de Enfermería de la Universidad de Cuenca. 2016(2016) Lema Mosquera, Ana Gabriela; Llivigañay Condo, Mélida del Rocío; Idrovo Uriguen, Jaime PatricioStudent desertion is a major problem in the system of higher education for their negative impact on academic, economic, social and cultural student processes, so it is necessary to conduct studies to determine the causes that lead to contribute to decrease. GENERAL OBJECTIVE Determine the causes for dropout and low academic achievement / students of the career of Nursing at the University of Cuenca. METHODOLOGY: The research is quantitative and descriptive; the universe formed with 816 students and the sample comprised 100 students; the results are presented through graphs and tables, the technique used: a survey of students RESULTS: 80% of students are female and 20% male the most relevant age is 21- 25 years of age at a rate of 64%; that its origin is 40% of Azuay marital status married 55% 26% followed by cohabiting and 19% married; that 68% of them receive assistance of their parents, and that 48% work and study, and finally to 100% of students surveyed 70% of them are satisfied with the race assigned by the CENECYTItem Causas y consecuencias de la deserción escolar en los estudiantes de bachillerato del Instituto Superior Pedagógico Intercultural Bilingue Quilloac, 2011-2013. Cañar 2014. Methodology: this study is a qualitative narrative approach; we worked with a sample selection according to the investigator's discretion involving 10 students who dropped out of high school in the last 2 years (2011-2013). Direct observation, home visits and depth interviews as techniques were used. A form developed and validated by the authors was applied; the information was performed using Microsoft Word. The results are presented in tables with their analysis, allowing us to better visualize the problems found in the study group. Results: the main causes of dropout are: social (alcohol consumption within households, broken families), economic (poverty, lack of stable jobs with good pay, income not enough to buy school supplies, lack of financial support from parent), geographical (distance education centers of households), family (families disintegrated by migration or death of one parent, poor family relationships), educational (problems with teachers and peers, lack of interest in study), biological (learning disabilities, vision and hearing), cultural (problems with the Kichwa language). Conclusion: the present study provided data on the causes and consequences of dropping out of school college students Quilloac. The study contributed to motivate managers to develop school education proposals to decrease dropout rates.
