The information is obtained through surveys and direct observation of parameters of interest related to the study variables. Results: Most patients use the diagnostic means of breast cancer, histopathological examinations, X-rays and other different means of diagnosis. Doctors are specialists, which guarantees the quality of care. Coordination between doctors and paramedics is said to be good. The physical plant is considered to be not the best. It is said that most nurses claim to know about caring for breast cancer patients. Three of the 10 nurses are on the floor, the rest of their contract, some degree of ignorance of contract nursing services. It complies with nursing procedures regarding the assessment of the patient in the first contact, help in the psychological field is only occasional. In the case of outpatients of patients with high medicine, it is observed that very few nurses who education about home care and usually are not informed about the side effects of treatment, the same the patient nursing evaluation at discharge Of the hospital is Partial only.Nursing activities focus on the fulfillment of their activities within the hospital. In most cases, the conditions of the patients are recorded in the discharge plan. Care of injuries and exercises are the main care of nurses, it is noteworthy that almost no one of the nurses is concerned with the psychological or spiritual support that distorts the current conceptions of nursing that promote this type of care. It is agreed that patients suffering from cancer have as main problems the effectiveness, pain, sleep, intestinal and urinary problems, lack of energy and difficulty in relating. The factors of trust, respect and communication, both of physicians - patient and between patient - nurse in general is good. It is stated that the nursing and medical staff of SOLCA de Chimborazo is highly qualified. Information on the subject is provided through community meetings within the life plan program, monitoring is partial, which impedes its impact assessment. The coverage is said to have been 20-40, because no real intensive prevention campaign is planned. METHODOLOGY: This study was of cross-sectional descriptive type, that allowed to determine the prevalence of the problems of malnutrition in niños/as of the fiscal school Andres F. Cordoba of the corner River basin, to be able to take part in a later stage envelope they, promoting actions that help to the nutrition and feeding adapted for their growth and development. The universe was constituted by the scholastic children matriculados/as in 2009 - 2010 of 2do to 7mo of basic of the School Andres F. Cordoba. The sample formulates in agreement with it was of 57 niños/as taken from 2do to 7mo from basic of the School Andres F. Cordoba of a total of 132 niños/as. Techniques and instruments: The techniques that were applied in this investigation were: the interview, surveys on socioeconomic situation to the parents of family of niños/as investigated; control of the anthropometric measures of weight and charts, through the instruments: balance and tallímetro in addition were used the tables of index of corporal mass, growth curves. The processing and analysis of the information were realized by means of the use of it programs of Word and Excel and formulas of Nelson. Summary: In our investigation one obtained that 32 niños/as investigated are with low weight, 17 students are with the normal weight and 8 students are with overweight. Solid waste there since the dawn of humanity, as a result of the activity of human beings. Its physical and chemical composition has varied according to the cultural and technological evolution of civilization. The easiest way to find the primitive man have not edible waste was throw on a site near his home; thus was born the open dump practice that has continued to this day and have become a problem. Solid waste remains one of the most damaging pollutants to the environment, since it is a latent risk to health and hygiene problems. GENERAL OBJECTIVE.. Establish the characteristics of solid waste management in rural community of Maluay and urban neighborhood Los Senderos of Cuenca. METHODOLOGY. A descriptive study was conducted. To survey data was used home visits using interview techniques supported by a previously validated form. Data were grouped into Excel, SPSS and analyzed with descriptive statistics and scientific knowledge of political ecology programs. RESULTS. The results determined that the correct application on the management of solid waste in the rural community of Maluay and urban Barrio Los Senderos shows no positive effect, due to lack of knowledge or little interest from people in the field.Item Influencia de los determinantes sociales sobre el estado nutricional de niños/as menores de 5 años de edad que acuden al Centro de Salus Biblián 2015.(2015) Armijos Pintado, Andrés Patricio; Feijo Lojano, Diego Armando; Juela Quintuña, Claudio Vinicio; Cabrera Cárdenas, Carmen LucíaIntroduction: Social conditions are set up as modifier factors of health status of the population, one of the most important is the nutritional status and about it, this research studies its influence on under 5-years children. Objectives: To identify and determine influence of social conditions on nutritional status of under 5-years children who went to Biblián’s health center. Materials and Methods: A descriptive observational transversal study was performed. Direct interview was the main research technic. Socio-demographic variables were described and diagnosis of any nutritional disorder was made (Overweight, obesity, low weight or malnutrition). Social conditions were studied to determine influence on the nutritional status of the children who were part of the research. Results: 220 children were studied, 71.4% had a normal nutritional status, 19.1% had low weight, a 4.5% had malnutrition followed by 4.1% that represented overweight and 0.9% who had obesity. Influence of studied social conditions was determined on nutritional disorders in children. Conclusions: Studied social conditions (rural, housing possession, basic services Access, incomes, occupation, marital status, number of family members, mother education, frequency and kind of nourishment) are associated with presence of nutritional disorders on under 5-years children.Item Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre el autocuidado de pacientes sometidos a tratamiento sustitutivo de la función renal del centro Diali Life - Cuenca 2016(2016) Valverde Chocho, Liliana Elizabeth; Zari Alvarez, María Alexandra; Buenaño Barrionuevo, Llaquelina Amanda; Patiño Encalada, Celia MarinaBackground: chronic kidney disease is a global public health problem. The prevalence in Latin America is 650 patients per million / inhabitants with an estimated increase of 10% per annum (1). In Ecuador it is estimated that by 2017 around 14,107 people suffer ERC (2). Objective: to determine knowledge, attitudes and practices on self-care of patients with chronic renal failure undergoing renal replacement therapy function of DIALI LIFE Center. Methodology: quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study was performed to 70 patients Diali LIFE Center in Cuenca. Data were collected through a structured, previously validated form; the same as they were processed and analyzed in SPSS v.23.0. Results: the data indicate that the average age is 59.07 and fluctuates between 61-70 years with 36.4%, with the dominant male with 51.5%, the fistula is the most common vascular access 77, 33%. As for self-care skills high data presented 39.4% and attitude is indifferent to 47.0%. Finally, they make appropriate self-care practices 74.2% Conclusion: the level of knowledge is significant; therefore, perform appropriate self-care practices that help lead to better disease and its treatment. Cuenca. 2015(2016) Ortega Pintado, Diana Carolina; Padilla Calle, Mayra Gissela; Naulaguari Medina, Patricia Piedad; Cárdenas Guamán, Martha MaríaObjective: to determine the implementation of AIEPI in the care of children from 2 months to 4 years 11 months 29 days in the Health Center for Nicanor Merchán 2015 Methodology: a quantitative study, descriptive, with the implementation of a survey with the nature and objectives of the study, the universe consisted of 19 people was held. The tabulation was performed using Excel and SPSS 15.0 software, the results were processed in graphs and tables. Results: among the most relevant results are: management of forms IMCI 100% only 20.9% always handle forms and 79% handled when warranted Training in AIEPI 100% of health professionals only 5.26% are trained. With regard to the experience in AIEPI, the 73.68% of health professionals have of 0-5 years of experience; and 15.78% belongs to the range of 6-15 years. Knowledge and skills of health professions in the AIEPI strategy, 85.26% have scientific training but only 43.15% integrates its knowledge into practice when handling a case of IRA. Conclusions: one of the most important challenges in the health team is not properly implemented the AIEPI when child care training is also zero in this health center for r what needs to be in constant training and review of guidelines so that gain more experience in the AIEPI strategy and to apply that knowledge correctly in practiceItem Autoestima y características obstétricas en adolescentes embarazadas del Centro de Salud Carlos Elizalde, Cuenca 2016(2017) Caivinagua Caivinagua, Julia Cristina; Borja Robalino, Brigith Vanessa; Abril Matute, Cumandá PatriciaPRECEDINGS: Adolescence pregnancy is considered high risk due to the impact on the mother and child’s health; psychologically the mother loses her trust and self-validation based on physical changes, lack of support, abandonment, censorship, social isolation which lead to low self-esteem and depression. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Establish self-esteem and obstetric characteristics of pregnant adolescents from the Carlos Elizalde Health Center in Cuenca in 2016. METHODOLOGY: A descriptive study was performed with 126 pregnant adolescents who were tested using the Rosenberg esteem scale and a survey on socio demographic variables such as age, civil status, occupation, level of instruction and obstetric characteristics like time of pregnancy, previous use of contraceptive methods, parity and planned pregnancy. To tabulate the date we used Excel and the results were presented using simple charts with its corresponding descriptive analysis. USE OF RESULTS: Average age used was 17.64, 50.79% have a common marriage, 51.59% are housewives, 45.24% have not completed high school, 42.85% of the pregnant adolescents are between 29 and 40 weeks of pregnancy, 50.79% did not used any kind of contraceptive method before this pregnancy, 82.54% were nulliparous, 65.08% expresses that this was a non-planned pregnancy. We found a 37.30% of high self-esteem among pregnant adolescents. CONCLUSIONS: During this study it was identify that the pregnant adolescents who got assistance at the Carlos Elizalde Health Center presented a high level of self-esteem during their pregnancy period.Item Percepciones de los profesionales de salud sobre el parto culturalmente adecuado. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the perceptions of health professionals about culturally appropriate delivery in the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Cuenca, in the period 2017. METHODOLOGY: The present study is qualitative, it applied the theory based, the interview was used as a technique with a semi-structured survey, the information was processed through the program ATLAS ti version 7.0 and the results were analyzed according to each category with their respective appointments, codes, memos and conclusions established by researchers. The prevalence of acute respiratory infections according to studies exceeds 40%, is high due to poor air quality, whether intra-domiciliary or external, increases the risk of respiratory diseases along with other factors such as lack of hygiene and unhealthy behaviors, which directly affect children under 5 years of age, being one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in Ecuador and the Province. General Objective: To determine the prevalence of Acute Respiratory Infections in children under 5 years of age, Racar 2017. Methodology: the research is of the quantitative type. The study is analytical, which will allow identifying the environmental determinants of Acute Respiratory Infections of children of the Racar community. Results: Of the boys and girls in the Racar sector, 43.9% are male and 56.1% are female, of which 27.6% are 4 years old and 20.3 are 1 year old. The perception of the mothers of family affirms that among the environmental factors 73.2% consider that the dust is a risk for the IRA, where 37.2% is generated by the presence of vehicles. Of the total number of people surveyed, only 54.5% have their own homes, likewise, 49.6% do not have potable water services. Conclusions: Environmental factors are one of the main factors for the prevalence of Acute Respiratory Infections, of which dust smoke are the generators of Cough, Fever and Catarrh as symptoms of ARIItem Aplicación de la Estrategia Score Mamá en el Centro de Salud Carlos Elizalde. Cuenca, 2018(2019-09-10) Chillogalli Domínguez, Carlos Geovanny; Jaramillo Espinoza, Suley Katherine; Altamirano Cárdenas, Ruth XimenaIntroduction: Ecuador, in the pursuit for decreasing maternal mortality, recently established the use of a new strategy called Score Mamá, that allows an estimate for morbimortality in a pregnant woman. Objective: To determine the application of the Score Mama Strategy by health personnel who works at the Carlos Elizalde Health Center. Cuenca, 2018. Materials and methods: is a descriptive cross-sectional study, quantitative, was done with a finite universe of 70 professionals from emergency areas, external consultation and hospitalization in Centro de Salud Carlos Elizalde. An author-validated form was used. The data were processed in SPSS version 21, and were shown through tables with their respective descriptive analysis. Results: 75,7% of respondents were women, 58,6% were older than 30 years old, 55,7% were physicians and 30% were nurses, 52,5% had a 1-to-3-year practice; 100% of respondents were acquainted of Score Mamá and 2,9% didn’t use it, according to knowledge 72,8% were found in the appropriate category, among studied factors, appropriate knowledge prevailed in females, workers older than 30 years old, physicians, followed by nursing personnel and those who had more than 3 years of clinical practice. Conclusions: health personnel at Carlos Elizalde Health Center in its majority has an appropriate knowledge about Score Mamá.Item Inicio de la actividad sexual y factores asociados en adolescentes de la unidad educativa "Luis Cordero". Azogues, 2019-2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-12-16) González Castillo, Carlos Esteban; Tandayamo Saavedra, Irene Elizabeth; Clavijo Morocho, Nube JanethBackground: Sexual education in adolescence is a topic that requires a lot of attention, since there are several factors associated with the beginning of sexual activity. In adolescence, talking about sexuality can be a taboo, because society penalizes education on this subject because it is considered an action that encourages an early start of sexual activity and the complications that it implies at an early age. Objective: to determine the beginning of sexual activity and associated factors in adolescents from the “Luis Cordero” Azogues Educational Unit, 2019-2020. Methodology: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out with a sample of 296 students enrolled in school, where the prevalence and associated factors with the initiation of sexual relations in adolescents of the “Luis Cordero” Educational Unit, during the 2019-2020, were determined. The data was collected through virtual surveys, the instrument used was based on the Ingledew and Ferguson Risk Sexual Behavior Index Scale (ICSR) and the family functionality form (FF-SIL), and results were represented in tables of frequencies and percentages at the same time that they were analyzed with the SPSS program. Results: The prevalence of sexual activity is 19.3% (57 students), with the female sex (54.4%) being the largest population, with an average age of 15 years. The 100% students had sex with their sweetheart, the main reason being curiosity (68.4%); the most used contraceptive method was the condom (78.9%) and the main source of information was the internet (58.1%). An association was found with early adolescence (95% CI: 0.961-0.077, p = 0.007), parental permissiveness to have a sweetheart (95% CI: 1.261-1.755, p = 0.014), use of contraceptive methods (95% CI: 11.962-85.512, p = 0.000) and presence of a sweetheart (95% CI: 5.763-31.508, p = 0.000). Conclusion: The research hypothesis is accepted and the null is rejected. There is a relationship between the study variables and the initiation of sexual relations.Item Autoestima y su relación con los trastornos alimenticios en estudiantes de bachillerato del Colegio “26 de noviembre”, Zaruma 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-03-25) Fernández Fernández, María Elena; Garcia Delgado, Tatiana Jasmin; Ulloa Peña, Ruth EstherBackground: Eating Disorders (EDs) are a global public health issue due to their high prevalence, particularly among adolescents (7.8%). Low self-esteem is the primary confirmed psychological trait of vulnerability, as adolescents are more susceptible to factors such as dissatisfaction with body image, the desire to lose weight, and social pressure. This increases the risk of developing eating disorders when attempting to control their weight and appearance through extreme eating behaviors. Objective: To determine self-esteem and its relationship with eating disorders among high school students at “26 de Noviembre” School, Zaruma 2023. Methodology: A quantitative, analytical, cross-sectional study, with a population of 650 high school students from the “26 de Noviembre” School. A sociodemographic questionnaire developed by the authors, the EAT-26 questionnaire, and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem scale were applied. Analysis was performed using SPSS v27 software. The relationship between self-esteem and eating disorders was examined using chi-square (X2) test, with a significance level set at p < 0.05. Results: Out of 650 high school students who participated in the study, 13.8% are at risk of presenting eating disorders, while 50.9% exhibit high self-esteem, 25.4% moderate self-esteem, and 23.7% low self-esteem; Additionally, a statistically significant relationship was identified between self-esteem and EDs with a p-value of 0.001. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that self-esteem influences the onset of eating disorders, as higher self-esteem correlates with a lower risk of eating disorders.
