Violencia de género en las relaciones de noviazgo adolescente; un análisis de la problemática en la ciudad de Cuenca

The main objective of this research is to know the relationship between gender violence in adolescent courtship, academic performance and low self-esteem; for this purpose, a quantitative and qualitative research process was carried out, with an exploratory and descriptive scope, which was carried out in the city of Cuenca at César Dávila Andrade High School. The results reveal the existence of violent manifestations in the couple relationships of the students resulting from an androcentric culture, with high prevalence rates for psychological violence ranging from 7.64% (in threats of blows) to 56% ( In the case of violence perpetrated in social networks); From 3.25% (in attempted strangulation) to 22.29% (pushing) for physical violence; And from 5.88% (in the use of physical force to have sexual relations) to 18.04% (in cases of forced kissing) for that corresponding to sexual violence. The study also found that violent relationships affect students' self-esteem, 17.20% said they lost self-confidence as a result of gender-based violence; As well, 13.38% indicated lower grades because of gender violence in their dating relationship.
