This thesis project implements a digital television laboratory that allows the development of interactive applications, which is used as a platform for the central objective that is to develop an application for capturing the information of the channels and programs that a viewer sees in a period of time, in order to use this information in the future to predict the behavior of the viewer. The digital television laboratory has an infrastructure that supports the development of interactive applications and the codification and transmission of digital television content, which constitutes the first stage of this work. In the second stage, we designed and implemented an interactive application that works in the Ginga-NCL/LUA platform, a server of interactive applications and a database server MySQL for the storage of the information generated for the viewers. As a result of this project, the University of Cuenca now has a functional digital television laboratory and an interactive application that allows capturing the activity of the user and storing it in a database. In future work, this information could be used to recommend programs that fit the preferences of the viewer. Moreover, you can obtain statistics of the age and gender of a viewer that sees a specific program for future analysis. Lastly, the development of this project motivates the faculty and the students of the Department of Engineering to develop new applications and to do research in the field of digital television.Item Estimación de modelos estáticos para variables de calidad en el circuito de molienda de UCEM, planta industrial Guapán(2015) Sánchez Ayora, Christian Eduardo; Yungaicela Naula, Noé Marcelo; Minchala Ávila, Luis IsmaelCement grinding is the responsible for the fineness characteristics of the final product, typically measured by two quality variables: specific surface or Blaine (cm2/g), and the percentage passing the sieve No. 325. It is a common practice in cement plants to perform laboratory tests of the fineness of the cement every two hours, leading to a gap of what produces an interval of two hours of blind operation regarding cement quality. As a response to this problematic, in this paper, it will be developed models of prediction of the quality variables, which allows minimization of the final product variable or increased the energy efficiency. The implemented models are: statistics, autoregressive, neuronal, and neuro-fuzzy. A statistical analysis of the database is performed, provided by the UCEM-Guapán factory, corresponding to the operation and quality variables of cement grinding. The selected variables for the development of the models are made through the treatment and analysis of the correlating data. The validation takes place in with operation values in the plants of UCEM. For the selection of the best model, it uses the residual error technique. The model with the best results is implemented in the LabVIEW software, for both the variable of Blaine and for percentage passing the sieve.Item Implementación de las etapas de codificación, mapeo y mapeo inverso QAM de un transmisor de radio digital según el estándar DRM30(2015) Gil Peñafiel, Pedro David; Santillán Sacoto, Franklin Gustavo; Solano Quinde, Lizandro DamiánThe present paper aims to analyze the European digital radio standard DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) for broadcast on AM Band, called DRM30, in order to perform a partial implementation of the coding stages, mapping and inverse QAM mapping. While conducting the study, it was determined that the standard consisted of 3 logical channels: Main Service Channel (MSC), fast access channel (FAC) and Service Description Channel (SDC). The implementation of the system was performed on a Windows system using the C ++ programming language in order to be scalable to other platforms and so it can be completed as part of future work. For the project validation, decoder modules implemented by the German institute Karlsruhe Institute of Technology Communications Engineering Lab, for GNU Radio software based on open source DreaM receptor, were used. Also an audio file loaded into the MSC was sent, in order to play it, once the channel is decoded. The validation results shown that our encoderimplementation complies the standard, because the encoded channels were reconstructed properly, which was tested making a comparison between the bits of the three channels. In addition, the audio carried in the MSC had a successful reproduction and reconstruction.Item Propuesta e implementación de una solución alternativa para el control, supervisión y comunicación en procesos industriales mediante programas de código libre(2015) Ochoa Ochoa, Saúl Genaro; Velecela Gallegos, Esteban Eduardo; Minchala Ávila, Luis IsmaelThe computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) approach allows the possibility to remotely and optimally control the entire production process within a plant. The implementation of CIM architectures demands the installation of several software platforms, which most of the cases are commercial and have high licensing prices. This research presents the development of open software for advanced CIM (OSACIM) by using two open software development platforms: Java and Python. The use of open software in the development of the solution allows the creation of a low price CIM approach. The results of the use of OSCACIM in laboratory tests show good results in comparison with a commercial SCADA system that performs the same features of the proposed software. A detailed methodology of the software development is presented, as well as the main features and limitations of the system.Item Planificación del acceso a radio de una estación base de tercera generación (3g) de la Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones CNT EP en Suscal(2015) Chauca Cárdenas, Walter Javier; Méndez Villavicencio, Diego Vinicio; Ochoa Figueroa, Edgar EfraínThroughout the years, the demand of high-speed access on cellphones has increased. For this reason, CorporaciónNacional de Telecomunicaciones is improving their services. Nowadays, CNT is expanding and optimizing its Third Generation network around the country. That is why it has begun installing new network nodes with HSPA+ technology in many cities and optimizing the existing nodes with previous technology. Moreover, it is upgrading current nodes with earlier technology. This thesis project analyzes the planning of the radio network access from a CNT base station in Suscal city. The project focuses in the predictions of coverage and capacity in order to identify and establish the more relevant criteria to consider in a suburban area like this. In addition, it shows a report about the evolution from a Third to a Fourth Generation’s node.Item Determinación de modelos de propagación ajustados a zonas representativas de la ciudad de Cuenca en base a mediciones reales(2015) Gallardo Aguilar, Henry Rafael; Jaramillo Vásquez, Juan Carlos; Astudillo Salinas, Darwin FabiánThe radio propagation modeling is very useful when making the planning of wireless communications networks, however, even though there are propagation models for different types of cities, none of them has been designed to predict the path loss for the city of Cuenca and its particular characteristics. Also, the process of determining an adjusted propagation model to reflect areas of Cuenca is presented, based on data acquired by an application developed for smartphones. With this application, also measurements are made to provide the coverage area parameter in a web application. A measurements campaign made in antennas located in defined representative areas are described respecting the norms and recommendations given by ARCOTEL and ITU. In the measurements, the signal intensity in function of distance to base stations is obtained. These measurements are compared with the prediction of the propagation models selected, of which the Xia - Bertoni model was the best. To adapt the model, the least mean square error between the predicted values of the model and measurements was minimized.Item Simulación y análisis de cobertura para tecnología LTE en el Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Cuenca(2015) Barrera Salamea, Daniela Estefanía; Arévalo Maldonado, Sofía PriscilaThe new wireless broadband Long Term Evolution (LTE) network provides higher data speeds and lower latency compared to 3G technologies to enhance the user experience and to ensure the competitiveness of the mobile networks for the future. This project analyze the coverage, interference and capacity performance of this type of network implemented on “Centro Histórico” ofthe city of Cuenca. First, a theoretical explanation is introduced for a better understanding of LTE technology and its technical specifications presented in 3GPP Release 8 standard. Also some regulatory aspects applied for the development of LTE in Ecuador, specifically Cuenca are included. After a study about radio planning tools, the simulation platform for telecommunication networks ICS TELECOM is used to exploit its capabilities on frequency planning, spectrum management, coverage prediction and interference analysis. The deployment of the simulated network prioritizes the use of existingantenna towersbelonging to mobile operators, due to thecomplexity to install new base stations on the studied areawhich holds patrimonial value. Finally, the simulated network is analysed and the performance of MIMO techniques, the use of different bandwidths allocated to each eNodeB and the use of different transmission frequency bands are compared.Item Desarrollo y validación de algoritmos para el estudio de la variabilidad de la frecuencia cardíaca en adultos mayores(2015) Parra Orellana, Freddy Andres; Wong de Balzan, Sara; Palacio Baus, Kenneth SamuelThis work is part of the project: Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and Insulin Sensibility among the Senior Population of Cuenca (Variabilidad de la Frecuencia Cardiaca (VFC) y Sensibilidad a la Insulina en la Población Adulta Mayor de Cuenca), funded and promoted by the Prometo Program and the Research Direction of the University of Cuenca (Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca – DIUC). The main goal of this thesis was to develop algorithms aimed to study the Heart Rate Variability. The tasks performed in this work include: i) the acquisition of SCP-ECG electrocardiographic registers from a senior population set, ii) the development of a platform aimed to integrate ECG registers with clinic and demographic information of studied subjects; iii) ECG processing by making use of the Pan-Tompkins QRS detector and artifact filtering in order to obtain RR series, and iv) the application of non-parametric methods (PSD and Hamming) and parametric methods (Burg) for temporal and spectral estimation, in addition to temporal parameter (SDRR, SMRRD) computation and frequency parameter (LF,HF, LF/HF) computation from the HRV. The development of this project makes use of a Graphic User Interface (GUI) called UCUENCAViewer ANALISIS VFC, which will allow researchers to analyze senior population’s HRV. Additionally, this tool will be available for teaching purposes and able to be used in future research.Item Diseño de una red FTTx con tecnología GPON para la cabecera Totoracocha(2015) Campoverde Pacheco, Juan Carlos; Ordóñez Parra, María Belén; Ochoa Figueroa, Edgar EfraínThe deploying of new generation networks is a fundamental change that all Enterprises have to do if they want to stay competitive and provide a quality service to their clients. Fiber optic networks are an effective alternative from economic point of view, and appropriate to provide high quality telecommunication services to clients that everyday require bigger bandwidths. GPON technology is the most appropriate because for upload or download information only needs one thread of fiber and it does not requires any active element to arrive to the final user from the main node; other aspect by which GPON is the best option, it’s because has a bigger bandwidth with respect to other PON technologies. We have very important aspects to take in mind if we want to deploy the network like the estimation of people demand that will require this service, by which the network should be divide in several stages that allow it to grow sustainably, for this, we have to search the right elements that will provide us this possibility. After a proper research of demand, we have to achieve that the technological part be according to the economical part because if it is not, this implementation will not be possible. The purpose of this project is give a quality service respecting the economy of the enterprise, with a scalable and sustainable network.Item Estudio técnico para la recomendación de parámetros de calidad de acceso a Internet sobre redes móviles en el Ecuador(2015) Tenesaca Quilambaqui, Roberto Carlos; Torres Coronel, Jorge Patricio; Astudillo Salinas, Darwin FabiánThis document details the research and the technical study about Internet Access through Cellular Telephone Systems. First, the theoretical background shows a summary of cellular telephone network technologies in Ecuador, as well as changes in telecommunications regulation over years. Later on, a state of art will be developed, about the quality of service of Internet access with reference to countries in Latin America, Europe and North America. Its purpose is to show a panoramic view of the current situation of the market, and the influence of government regulation in the development of the market. With this study and the description of ITU and ETSI norms and recommendations, an analysis of current performance of cellular telephone networks in Ecuador is made. For this, measurements made by SUPERTEL with the SAMM system were used. SAMM can test coverage and access to services. Considering the diversity of cellular telephone system technology and the current situation of mobile Internet access in other countries, QoS parameters are proposed based on ETSI recommendations. These QoS parameters evaluate the Internet access performance of all mobile network operators. With this approach, it is proposed that all measurements must be published. It provides the subscriber an impartial evaluation about Internet access through the available cellular telephone systems. Finally, since SUPERTEL doesn't have a reporting service that helps in the analysis of measurements made by SAMM, software that automatically generates these reports was developed. This software has helped to have an Internet access statistical analysis with the QoS parameters proposed.Item Diseño e implementación de un sistema prototipo de gestión de acceso a las aulas de la facultad de ingeniería mediante llaves electrónicas(2015) Arias Ordóñez, Christian Xavier; Guevara Baculima, Remigio ClementeThe main objective of this thesis is to design an electronic prototype with wireless Internet access, allowing automatically manage access to classrooms and laboratories of the Engineering Faculty of the University of Cuenca. To achieve this, a device was designed so that together with an RFID reader, magnetic cards can be used like electronic keys. On the other hand an application designed for smartphones with Android operating system, will also function as electronic key, allowing the user to choose the option that prefers to use in case that in the future the prototype is implemented in the faculty. The device management as well as the database of professors, can be managed through a web application designed specifically for this thesis and that resides on a HTTP server. Finally communication between the server and the electronic prototype is possible through a set of functions or API developed in PHP.
