Here we identify different secondary forest communities located over 2900 m a.s.l, based on its floristic similarity. In each community, floristic composition was described by the total exclusive and shared species. Estimation curves were used to provide richness and diversity metrics. The structure was analyzed according to abundance and basal area. In addition, we evaluated the role of environmental variables in floristic conformation and structure through principal components and the redundancy analysis. Three forest communities were identified. Community, located at high altitude and low temperature, had the highest value of diversity and basal area. Variation in species composition was explained by climatic and geographic variables, density by soil and climatic variables, and basal area by topographic variables. Species richness and basal area did not present an altitudinal distribution pattern similar to those from other Andean tropical forests. Therefore, the floristic variation, species richness and basal area seem to be explained by the chronological age of secondary succession, as evidenced by the indicator species belonging to different ecological groups. We concluded that the floristic composition, richness and structure of vegetation in forest communities of high Andean secondary forests are influenced by climatic, topographic, physiographic and geographic variables related to the age of succession.Item Control y prevención de la leucosis bovina(2009) Caguano Ñamo, Wilson Mesías; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Determinación de la actividad viral de fiebre aftosa en bovinos en el Cantón Cañar, Provincia de Cañar mediante las pruebas Elisa 3ABC y EITB(2013) Nivelo Solano, José Santiago; Cando Tello, Byron Emanuel; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Determinación de la alteración-adulteración de leche cruda mediante análisis físico-químicos en medios de transporte legalizados, provenientes de la Parroquia Tarqui, cantón Cuenca(2015) Castillo Zumba, Paola Fernanda; Ortega Echeverría, Renato Esteban; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelThis study was conducted in the Cuenca Canton in the province of Azuay in carriers who collect raw milk from the farms of Tarqui and lead them to the processing plant or sell it directly. The sampling was carried out with the support of AGROCALIDAD/Azuay and National Police in raids in strategic positions. 90 samples of 39 carriers registered parish was collected and with permit operation of AGROCALIDAD/Azuay representing 100% of the population studied. Established parameters were determined by the Standard INEN 9 as protein stability, pH, presence of antibiotics, peroxides and neutralizing; the methodology used is based on the Manual of Procedures for Surveillance and Control of Raw Milk Safety (AGROCALIDAD, 2013), two tests (presence of neutralizing and pH) were performed at the Laboratory for Rapid Diagnosis of AGROCALIDAD/Azuay. It was determined that 35.5% of samples do not meet the parameters established by the competent authority, of which, 10% presented acid pH, 10% protein instability, 4.4% presence of antibiotics and 11.1% with neutralizing. Correlation statistical methods were established where it is observed that the higher the travel time there are more chances that the pH drops, and carriers that have more suppliers there is greater chance that milk contaminated with antibiotics is found.Item Diagnóstico de la población canina y felina en los hogares de las parroquias urbanas del cantón Cuenca, provincia del Azuay(2018) Cornejo Contreras, Sandra Elizabeth; Sinchi Pillco, Jessica Maribel; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelThe present research has as general objective to diagnose the canine and feline population in the 15 urban parishes of the canton of Cuenca, taking into account the following variables: sex, race, age, reproductive status, sanitary management and type of feeding, 1307 household surveys taken at random. 60.04% (canines) and 58.25% (felines) are males, the predominant age in canines and felines is 12 to 60 months with 59.62% and 53.61% respectively. 79.49% of the canines and 51.55% of the felines were vaccinated against rabies, 52.35% of the canines and 33.51% of the felines vaccinated against other diseases. Internal deworming of dogs and cats: 75.33% and 61.34%, respectively. Breeds that predominate in canines are: Mongrel, Poodle, Schnauzer, Bulldog, Shih Tzu, Pekingese, Golden Retriever, Labrador, Pug, Chihuahua, Beagle, Basset Hound, Dash Hound, German Shepherd, Siberian Husky, Pitt Bull and Sharpei, in felines: Domestic, Himalayan, Persian and Siamese. It was demonstrated that the majority of canines and felines are not sterilized constituting 81.82% and 76.81% respectively. Feeding of canines and felines is a mixed diet, 44.18% and 36.86%, respectively. The relationship found for canines: home is 1.5: 1 and felines: home 0.3: 1Item Diagnóstico diferencial de enfermedades vesiculares(2004) Figueroa, Maria Alexandra; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Encefalopatía espongiforme bovina(2011) Galarza Chuisaca, José Miguel; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Estudio de factibilidad para el establecimiento de una planta procesadora de leche en la Paarroquia Pindilig del Cantón Azogues(2008) Palacios Valdivieso, Alfonso; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Etiología del aborto bovino, por causas, infecciosas y no infecciosas(2009) Ochoa Prado, Maria Mercedes; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Evaluación de perfiles serológicos de anticuerpos vacunales para VPPC (peste porcina clásica), en la granja San Luis del Cantón la Troncal(2013) Enrriquez Tocto, Sandra María; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelThis research entitled "Evaluation Serological antibody profiles vaccine for CSFV (Classical Swine Fever)” was realized in the farm St. Louis, in La Troncal, in the province of Cañar, from August 1st, 2012 to April 15th 2013 with a group of 55 animals conformed as follows: 10 pregnant sows with 5 piglets by each mother, five sampling every 15 days, with a total of 350 serum samples, the animals were randomly selected. The processing of the samples was performed in the laboratories of the Ecuadorian Agency for quality Assurance (AGROCALIDAD) in the city of Quito, using a test called ELISA Ac. According to the results obtained we have a higher antibody titer in T2 (mothers), where they proceeded to vaccinate pregnant sows at 80 days of gestation and piglets at 50 days of age. In piglets increased activity of antibody titer was found in T1, 15 days prior to vaccination, while comparing the 4 treatments after the shot we see that T2 (piglets), has the highest level of antibodies in the intervals serological survey. China vaccine strain to be moderate pathogenicity confers a high degree of protection, generating an adequate protective immune response following immunization, without producing active viral shedding or viremia post-vaccination in the field challenge.Item La formación profesional en medicina veterinaria y zootecnia frente a las exigencias del entorno(2008) Palacios Ordóñez, Estuardo; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Hembras de Remplazo(2004) Figueroa Pazos, Andrés; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Identificación de los microorganismos y posibles fuentes de recontaminación en leche UHt(2008) López Villavicencio, Geovanny; Murillo Apolo, Yuri; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Planificación de las unidades didácticas del módulo de agrotecnología(2009) Vélez Peña, Carlos Alejandro; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Prevalencia de brucelosis bovina en el cantón Gualaquiza, Provincia de Morona Santiago(2010) Espinoza Ortega, Raquel; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Prevalencia de brucelosis bovina en el Cantón Limón Indanza Provincia Morona Santiago(2013) Cabrera Tenecela, Verónica Ximena; Cárdenas Peláez, Marcelo Ramiro; Vaca Vaca, Carlos MiguelItem Prevalencia de brucelosis bovina en la Parroqia Ingapirca, Cantón Cañar, Provincia de Cañar(2013) Agurto Granda, Diego Alonso; Fernándes Panjón, Pedro Ismael; Vaca Vaca, Carlos Miguel
