Academia, Estado y Activismo Femenino. La praxis ciudadana en Portugal
(2020) Tubay Zambrano, Fanny Monserrate; Sant Ana, Helena
This work examines aspects of the social system in Portugal, based on an interdisciplinary cooperation between Acad-emy, State and Female Activism, managing to articulate its objectives from a gender perspective with a view to achieving an education for equality. Results shows an academy that perceive a scientific framework recognizing diversity without denying differences; a state addressing educational and social issues as priority axes and, on the other hand, the partic-ipation of women's activism groups that through a citizen praxis promote a closer and more honest debate within the field of gender studies. An experimental methodology and participant observation is applied during a doctoral stay whose intercultural approach is considered as a collaborative learning tool. Social triangulation reflects in this research a coordinated work making visible and gives voice to diverse groups that promove citizen participation.

This degree work is the result of a field research that seeks to respond to the following objective: to determine the didactic strategies used by teachers in the seventh-grade classroom to achieve inferential reading. Therefore, taking into account that, in Ecuador according to data from INEC in 2016, reading presents procrastination due to the fact that more than half of the students in schools do not reach a reading comprehension according to their educational level. The research has a qualitative approach that allowed examining the socio-educational facts that support the proposed analysis. The method is ethnographic and bibliographic, with tools such as non-participant observation and documentary review. The techniques derived were an observation guide that was applied to six inferential reading classes in seventh grade EGB in two educational institutions (one public and one private). The results, based on an analysis of dimensions, expose five categories that are presented in the study: didactic tools and resources used by teachers to guide their reading class; reading motivation strategies; prior knowledge strategies; classroom reading techniques; and classroom evaluation. The conclusions of the study determine that the teachers have the capacity to apply resources, tools and strategies in their classes that develop the necessary skills to understand, participate and acquire inferential reading knowledge.

    (2018) Tubay Zambrano, Fanny Monserrate
The social transformations in Cuenca has given way to the constitution of diverse forms of being and exercise of citizenship, in a context that has been altered by migratory movements, which reconstruct and change the dynamics of citizens’ spaces and perspectives. The study shows that although the city is recognized as multicultural, it requires an intercultural practice to mediate, overcome conflicts and improve liv ing conditions. Therefore, the academic and city are proposed, as macro spaces, to enhance interaction in intercultural societies, under an integrating vision that intersects both imaginaries. A qualitative methodology is applied, with automatic tools and interactive interviews, as well as a documentary investigation. The results of t he account and the devices of the city and the academy, allow a timely approach when relationships are relaxed, and spaces are taken as a learning and practice scenario for social enrichment.

    (2021) Tubay Zambrano, Fanny Monserrate
From the perspective of the| studies of culture and the hegemony of power, this research explores its inhabitants’ perspective, the widespread feeling, and the appropriation of the religious celebration of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in the Picoazá parish (Portoviejo–Ecuador). For this purpose, qualitative methodology is used, using the interview as an ethnographic tool. The results suggest a group attached to religion with significant connotations in the social and cultural organization of the environment, giving way to the reproduction of traditions inherited from generation to generation. Hábitos de lectura en alumnos universitarios de la carrera de Educación en la Universidad Técnica de Manabí, Ecuador
    (2020) Henriquez Coronel, María Angelica
The purpose of the research was to explore the reading and information consumption habits of the students of the Education career at the Technical University of Manabí (UTM), through an exploratory diagnosis. The study is part of the positivist methodological paradigm, using a quantitative approach and a descriptive, exploratory, cross-sectional research design. A sample size of 327 units was estimated, assuming an error of 0.05, consisting of students enrolled in the Career of Biology and Chemistry, Basic, Languages, Artistic, Physical, Physical and Mathematical and Initial Education of the UTM in Faceto-face modality. The information was collected through a questionnaire applied between August-September 2019, using the forms offered by the Google Drive platform. The exploratory analysis of the data included descriptive statistics and the application of the Chi-square test. The results reveal that the students of the Education career are rare readers of a wide range of types of information, being in the specialty of Basic Education where better reading habits are reflected. These results raise the need to develop proposals, at the curricular level, that contribute to the development of reading habits that strengthen a greater integral formation of the future graduated in the Education career.

Interculturality and TIC in postgraduate education proposals in Ecuador
    (2021) Tubay Zambrano, Fanny Monserrate
The research has highlighted the need to address the complex reality of culturally diverse societies, and importance of intertwining the multiplicity of knowledge and teaching-learning needs for this. Faced with this challenge, postgraduate courses in education constitute a highly relevant area where to value an interdisciplinary perspective, especially relating the intercultural approach and educational technologies. This study analyzes 18 postgraduate programs in Ecuador in order to make visible to what extent they respond to this approach. The qualitative research, on the one hand, selects postgraduate courses endorsed by the governing body of higher education in the country and in force. And on the other, it goes to the documentary analysis to review theoretical budgets in contrast to the designs of the selected offer. Results suggest that most of the postgraduate offer includes elements to promote a dialogue of respect, equity and social justice, in what we could consider a paradigm shift. Despite this, the results also reveal curricular gaps, which turn the intercultural and the digital into mere discursive elements instead of emerging and transversal components for education.

La crisis semántica de la lengua materna y sus imaginarios en sociedades capitalistas
    (2020) Tubay Zambrano, Fanny Monserrate
The dichotomous construction of “mother tongue” from the discourse analysis, shows the different statements that describe it from connotations that derive from a semantic and social crisis. Androcentrism exerts a hegemonic, almost invisible, but highly influential power in the use of language as a communication resource and socialization tool. Therefore, from a documentary methodology and after a seminar gender in the city of Cuenca (Ecuador), it is reviewed here some theoretical approaches that address mother‐child relationships, the differences between the father and mother tongue, its emotions and frailties. Besides that, it is examined the grief or resignation, all as social catalysts to justify the loss of a language that, in addition to being a communicative channel, is an instrument of discrimination and oppression that obviates the maximum human expressions, necessary in the formation of citizenship for equality and social justice.

(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-09-20) Aguirre Tirado, Tammya Shyram; Serpa Ocampo, Nanthar Milena; Tubay Zambrano, Fanny Monserrate
The research reveals whether discrimination exists, how it is perceived and embodied by women's racialized bodies, and how the university's ethical code acts to repel such unequal actions. The population sample is made up of a group of Afro-Ecuadorian women who work within the University of Cuenca, and who are subcontracted through the ASOAFRO Organization, to carry out cleaning tasks on the campuses of the University. The general objective was to analyze, based on the ethical code of the University of Cuenca, the spaces occupied by women in the collective in their work environment, in order to describe the discriminatory practices and discourses that are reproduced within the workplace; Through their experiences, the mechanisms and discriminatory forms experienced by women in this group are exposed. The methodology is qualitative with exploratory and ethnographic depth, the survey and semi-structured interview were used as tools. The information was analyzed through the categorization or dimensions that are expressed in the results and the critical interpretation in correspondence with the code of ethics. The results make visible the existence of discriminatory practices and acts within the community of the University of Cuenca, in different situations and circumstances, some more visible than others. The study also reveals their sense of belonging to the educational community, and to the organization that hires them.

(2023) Tubay Zambrano, Fanny Monserrate; Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto Fabricio; Arteaga Auquilla, María Teresa
From the perspective of ancestral medicine, this article exposes healing practices and mechanisms of integral cleansing of the human being (mind, body and spirit), carried out by the healers at UNASAY-E in Ecuador. The study recovers cultural elements, loaded with cultural meanings, in which it is known from the voices of Mamas, Yachacs, Curanderos, Midwives and Cleaners, the procedures applied for the release of energies with which they live daily, so that they do not affect health of the healers. Las TIC´s como teoría y herramienta transversal en la educación. Perspectivas y realidades
    (2021) Tubay Zambrano, Fanny Monserrate
Neonatal asphyxia can be considered as hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy that occurs with cerebral palsy, seizures and learning disorders that affects brain development in its most serious forms, causing significant perinatal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in developed and underdeveloped countries. It is difficult to specify the origin, for example, an expulsive with a circular cord causing fetal distress, as a risk preceptor. The objective of this study is to apply nursing interventions as an integral part from an individualized, timely and progressive perspective for their recovery in the neonatal intensive care unit. The method used for the development of the clinical case is scientific research, with analytical description, correlational with scientific bibliographic review and clinical practice guidelines; as well as the analysis and assessment of the clinical history, indicating the biomedical information and the significant nursing practice of the study. The present case was carried out in a General Hospital in Ecuador, in a newborn male referred from a health center, admitted in an unstable clinical condition without endotracheal intubation to the Neonatology service. The patient is followed up and a favorable condition is observed. It is worth mentioning that the application of the Nursing Care Process is rooted in involving the mother of the newborn so that she participates in the continuous treatment that will be provided during their hospital stay due to the neurological complications that the newborn presents.

Los saberes en la medicina intercultural de la Unión Campesina del Azuay (Ecuador): construcción territorial y colectiva de aprendizajes transformadores
    (2024) Arteaga Auquilla, María Teresa
The study shows how healers from the Peasant Union of Azuay (UNASAY-E) in Ecuador, faced with the needs of today's world, raise the need to continue training; and they make known their vision of what knowledge they require to care for the body, mind and spirit. The research is ethnographic and uses tools such as semi-structured interviews and focus groups. The results reveal that the knowledge inherited from generation to generation is in permanent territorial and collective construction. It also explains which resources, natural medicines and treatments are applied for healing. The investigation concludes that ancestral medicine continues to be devalued and folklorized, even though, on the one hand, it is recognized in the national Constitution and, on the other, it confers well-being to the social structure.
