Item Heritage as a resource of development: proposal for intervention for the “antigua hacienda de Llaviucu,” Cajas National Park – Ecuador(Universidad de Cantabria, 2020) Rodas Aviles, Tatiana ElizabethThrough a restoration proposal, as well as the approach of a program and projects, within a good that has particular characteristics (cultural asset - natural context), it aims to show new approaches to the recovery of heritage, which should be preserved for future generations, making it a sustainable development resource. The importance of conserving these sites is due to the fact that they have social, cultural, environmental, social and scientific values, among others, commonly recognized by society; that is where heritage truly maintains its spirit. The development of this research clarifies the notion of heritage as a development resource, and adopts a methodology to carry out an intervention that aims to turn good into a source of self-sustainable development. For this purpose, good practices and experiences in the use of heritage as a development resource are reviewed, but before arriving at the proposal, it was necessary to carry out the diagnosis of the “Antigua hacienda de Llaviucu”, (located in the Cajas National Park - Ecuador) that presented high levels of deterioration, through its assessment, pathological analysis, the problem it faces, as well as the analysis of the legal and institutional framework where it is inserted. Finally, the proposal suggests an intervention that can be considered as a methodological example, which demonstrates a form of integral action, where through the development of various projects, the recovery of both material and intangible value of heritage is discussed with argument, while continuing side strategies for its operation and sustainability.Item Innovation and diversification of brick, Susudel – Ecuador(CRC Press y Taylor & Francis Group, 2020) Rodas Aviles, Tatiana ElizabethThe Later-Eris project, is developed within the framework of the World Heritage City Project of the University of Cuenca. This research focuses on the Susudel parish, located in the South of Ecuador, where it is observed that the majority of artisan producers offer them a single type of brick, known locally as a panelón (standard measurements 28x14x7 cm). This fact triggers a high competitiveness, accentuates the mono-production which affects an over-supply of an almost unique product and marketing at unsustainable prices, as this phenomenon unravels processes of unfair competition between producers. The objective of research is to innovate and diversify the production, from the floor covering brick, taking advantage of the potential and resources of the place, working alternatives with identity, based on the riches of the region. This is how, from the identification of the problem, a methodology of approach with artisans is proposed, which, more than the understanding of the productive dynamics and use of the cladding brick, promotes the conservation of the artisan production capacities, true tangible and intangible heritage in the study area. Additionally, the result is the innovation of designs and shapes, the characterization of the raw material and a joint work with artisans. Finally, a manual is generated that serves as a tool for the producers in order to be used as a reference.Item Las innovaciones tecnológicas como respuesta a las debilidades y aprovechamiento de potencialidades en el sistema constructivo tradicional del adobe(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015) Rodas Aviles, Tatiana ElizabethThe lack of detailed official technical information, the shortage in the workforce, the ignorance of the potential of the use of traditional materials to offer a quality architecture in our environment have put at risk of disappearing these ancestral knowledge that would allow us to guarantee the Conservation of Ground structures In the Historic Center of the City of Cuenca, adobe is one of the most used construction systems in buildings considered of heritage value, therefore knowing the forms of traditional production, interregional variants, functions and properties of its components, we they will allow to understand their behavior, potentialities and weaknesses from the technical, economic, social and environmental point of view. This diagnosis, as in previous experiences, was the basis for developing the IV Maintenance Campaign 2018, executed by the University of Cuenca, in cooperation with public and private entities, and with an active participation of the inhabitants of the neighborhood. This research begins with the analysis of buildings built with land, determining their state of conservation, and their heritage values, after which a technical process of shared decision-making was proposed in which it was important to consider variables such as participation, technical resources , economic resources, regulations, heritage values, habitability, etc., bringing to light the problems and solutions shared in each specific case on decks, facades and interiors, without electricity and water facilities that affect the security and stability of these monuments. Item The influence of civil works on heritage(Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, 2020) Barsallo Chavez, Maria Gabriela; Cardoso Martinez, Fausto Adrian; Rodas Aviles, Tatiana Elizabeth; Achig Balarezo, Maria Cecilia; Sinchi Tenesaca, Edison RomanIn urban and rural areas of the Andean cities of Ecuador, construction based on earthen technologies has been an important alternative, which are carried out through ancestral customs, such as the minga, which benefit the cohesion of the community. Against this background, the World Heritage City Project of the University of Cuenca (Ecuador) has since the year 2011 undertaken interventions in heritage buildings inspired by the minga, so called Maintenance Campaigns, where the collective efforts of various actors (community, academy and organizations) are joined to recover buildings in highly vulnerable heritage neighborhoods, promoting preventive conservation, maintenance and monitoring of vernacular buildings. The fourth campaign, which was carried out in 2018, took place in the Las Herrerias Street in the historical El Vergel neighborhood of Cuenca, a World Heritage City since 1999. The methodology applied in the previous campaigns was essentially maintained, gaining experience and innovating at every opportunity. As a special aspect, the Las Herrerias Campaign was characterized by the existence of buildings with structures that were already affected by civil works previously carried out, such as re-pavements, drinking water installations, various services, etc. This research proposes to establish conservation strategies of vernacular heritage buildings and to mitigate the effects of poorly carried out civil works. The buildings intervened in the 2018 campaign are taken as reference, specifically those whose damages are the result of civil works. First, a review of bibliographic sources is undertaken to reveal historical data about the neighborhood and the civil works that have been carried out. The research continues with a diagnosis of the condition of the buildings before the Maintenance Campaign. Next, the daily maintenance records and the experience of the participants of the Campaign are investigated to identify and analyze those buildings affected by bad civil works practices and their impact on the damages of their structures. Subsequently, the condition of the buildings after the Campaign is evaluated. Finally, strategies are proposed that must be considered for the interventions of vernacular heritage architecture, built with traditional earth and wood systems. Furthermore, civil works guidelines are defined for these types of interventions. Accordingly, the preservation for future generations of the wealth of material as well as immaterial heritage is encouraged.Item Uso del patrimonio como recurso de desarrollo, experiencias en Latinoamerica y el caso de Cuenca(PROTERRA, 2017) Rodas Aviles, Tatiana Elizabeth; Jara Avila, David FranciscoThe city of Cuenca, located in the southern part of Ecuador, has a Historic Center, where its history and development.
