Caso Cuenca (Ecuador)(2017) Espinoza Figueroa, Freddy Edgar; Freire Chaglla, Segundo AmadorCurrently, innovative business models have emerged in terms of operation, through electronic management means, such as Airbnb (accommodation), are present almost worldwide, under the name of collaborative economy, have a pre-dilection for locating in urban settlements consolidated as historical centers; Cuenca, Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity is not the exception. However, they generate discomfort to traditional business models and undermine the authenticity, integrity and heritage values of cultural assets built by virtue of a probable oversupply of accommodation. This descriptive study was conducted through the collection of historical data (2010 -2017) of the Airbnb offer (web page) for Cuenca, and, aims to put in context the characteristics and evolution of this type of offer in a patrimonial city context, resulting in a trend towards the concentration of this type of establishments in historical and heritage areas; In addition, there is evidence of a downward trend in tariffs in the face of pressure to reduce the prices of regulated establishments. This phenomenon has effects beyond tourism, so it is alarming the lack of policies of control and regulation by the public sector, laziness around innovation by the private sector, the lack of studies and the erosion of heritage built culture and housing in relation to the increase of an informal offer.Item Criterios de vocación turística para consolidar destinos locales en espacios rurales. Also, the study analyzes the volume of supply and demand, elasticities, market power of the participants and maximization of private profits. Research with a quantitative approach of exploratory scope and cross-section. It used the simple random sampling technique and collected data through structured surveys of microeconomic variables aimed at tourism intermediaries and consumers in five destinations: Galapagos, Colombia, the United States, Panama and the Dominican Republic. From the determination of the market equilibrium, the total surpluses of the analyzed destinations were maximized, in contrast to the scenarios formulated. The calculation of the net surplus showed that its distribution benefits consumers as long as the price is at equilibrium. However, travel agencies respond to other companies and broker products belonging to monopolistic structures, evidencing price discrimination. Despite this, agencies need to look for other strategic combinations that maximize their benefits despite not always being optimal. The research applied or different theories within the framework of the market economy to support the analysis and understanding of tourism intermediation. With prices above equilibrium and elastic responses to consumption, the market favors producers. Therefore, intermediation obtains greater benefits by discriminating prices, rather than competitive actions. The main objective was to determine the existence of a significant relationship between the cultural influence of residents of Ecuadorian origin in the United States and the choice of Cuenca as a tourist destination by U.S. travelers. Caso centro histórico de Cuenca, Ecuador(2021) Espinoza Figueroa, Freddy Edgar; Molina Ochoa, Gabriela Estefania; Freire Chaglla, Segundo Amador; Avecillas Torres, Ángeles ImeldaThis paper analyses the (common) citizen's perceptions of the built cultural heritage. The value given by the inhabitant of a territory to its heritage is not static, but changes depending on multiple factors. The exploration of variables around perception is a key task in order to foster the breadth of methods that can be combined for the management of cultural heritage. In 1999, the Historical Center of Cuenca was declared by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site, however, there is excessive concern about the object to the detriment of the subject. The objective of the research is to explore the citizens' perceptions of the built heritage. The focus of the study was mixed, qualitative from a focus group used for the construction of variables and also for the discursive contrast with the quantitative elements. The qualitative part was based on the exploration of hierarchical and grouped categorical variables. The perception of cultural heritage has a high relationship with historical aspects, it is mostly associated with monumental and ancient buildings, and there is ambiguity in belonging. The official discourse on conservation among experts generates more conservation problems than the common citizen. Keywords: Built Cultural Heritage, Common Perception, Historical Center of Cuenca.
