Abstract
The present study analyzed the tourist impact caused by the April 2016 earthquake in Puerto Lopez, Manabí. The accommodation, Agua Blanca community, and the tourist quay were analyzed. Secondary and Primary information coming from the demand of accommodation surveys was used.
By means of coefficient of determination or R- squared value, it was concluded that the best way of establishing the recovery time is through comparative percentages month for month. The recovery also depended on the communication strategies that the public sector employed after the disaster. Finally, an approximate volume of the loss was calculated.
Resumen
El estudio analizó el impacto del terremoto de abril de 2016 en el turismo de Puerto López, provincia de Manabí. Se analizó el hospedaje, la comunidad de Agua Blanca y el muelle turístico. Se utilizó información secundaria e información primaria procedente de encuestas de ocupación de alojamiento.
Por medio del coeficiente de determinación se concluyó que la mejor manera de establecer el tiempo de recuperación es mediante porcentajes comparativos mes a mes. La recuperación también dependió de las estrategias de comunicación que el sector aplicó luego del desastre. Finalmente, se calculó el volumen aproximado de pérdidas económicas.
