Item Autoestima y satisfacción con la vida en adultos mayores en condición de abandono familiar e indigencia de la Fundación Santa Ana de la cuidad de Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-03-25) Guarquila Gómez, Jonnathan Andrés; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaSelf-esteem, understood as the subjective assessment that people make of themselves, has been consistently associated with greater psychological well-being. At the same time, satisfaction with life reflects a personal evaluation of the experiences lived, closely linked to individual well-being. This study aims to describe the levels of self-esteem and satisfaction with life in older adults who face family abandonment and indigence at the Santa Ana de Cuenca Foundation. In addition, it seeks to identify the levels of self-esteem according to sociodemographic variables (age, sex, marital status) and determine the prevalence of life satisfaction in relation to these variables. With a quantitative approach, cross-sectional design and descriptive scope, the research encompasses 60 older adults, using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Life Satisfaction Scale (SWLS) and a sociodemographic sheet as instruments. Despite the adverse conditions, most older adults show healthy levels of self-esteem and satisfaction with life at the Santa Ana Foundation. It highlights the relevance of sociodemographic variables, especially marital status, in the perception of satisfaction with life in this particular group. These results underscore the importance of considering specific factors when addressing mental health and well-being in older adults in vulnerable situations.Item Burnout, ansiedad y satisfacción laboral en el personal de la Gobernación del Azuay, periodo 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-09-30) Trelles Ludeña, Katherine Nicole; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaStress is a natural human response to the demands of the environment; however, when prolonged in the workplace, it can trigger negative consequences such as burnout syndrome and anxiety, negatively impacting employee satisfaction, performance, and productivity. In the public sector, these issues are relevant due to the heavy workload and constant pressure associated with serving the public. The overall objective of this research was to determine the relationship between burnout, anxiety, and job satisfaction among staff at the Azuay Governor's Office during the 2024-2025 period. The study was conducted using a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational approach. The research was conducted with 87 public employees, with an average age of 41 years. Validated instruments were used: the Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS) to measure burnout, the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) to assess anxiety, the Overall Job Satisfaction (OJS) to analyze job satisfaction, and a sociodemographic form to identify demographic variables. The results showed significant relationships between the dimensions of burnout, anxiety, and job satisfaction. Burnout and anxiety were negatively correlated with job satisfaction; specifically, cynicism was the main predictor of decreased job satisfaction, followed by emotional exhaustion and somatic anxiety. These findings highlight the need to implement institutional strategies aimed at promoting the psychosocial well-being of public employees.Item Calidad de sueño de los estudiantes de décimo de educación general básica en la Unidad Educativa Particular Nuestra Familia durante el periodo académico 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-20) Yance Chérrez, Verónica Michelle; Dominguez Sacta, Rosa Elisabeth; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaSleep quality is essential for the well-being and overall health of adolescents, as it influences their physical, mental, and emotional development, as well as their academic performance and long-term physical health. In this context, the objective of this study focused on describing the sleep quality of tenth-grade students of basic general education at the Unidad Educativa Particular “Nuestra Familia” during the 2024-2025 academic period. Due to the small size of the population, the study worked with all the students, who are approximately 40. A quantitative methodology with a descriptive approach and a non-experimental cross-sectional design was used. For this purpose, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to evaluate various aspects of sleep. In addition, sociodemographic data such as gender, age, bedtime and wake-up time (on school days and weekends), and screen time were collected. The information collected was statistically analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) program. The results obtained indicate that 66% of the students had good sleep quality, with differences according to age and gender, highlighting better quality in men and adolescents aged 14 years. Going to bed early and limiting the use of screens (5-15 hours per week) will promote rest, while late hours and greater exposure to devices had a negative impact. These findings highlight the importance of promoting healthy sleep habits.Item Calidad de vida en cuidadores formales de adultos mayores residentes en centro geriátricos de los cantones El Tambo, Suscal y Azogues en la provincia de cañar en el año 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-02-22) Mainato Buñay, Cisne Beatriz; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaThe stage of adulthood is characterized by changes and limitations that often require assistance in basic activities, generating the need for formal caregivers. These professionals face a variety of factors that affect their quality of life, especially when performing their functions in geriatric settings. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to determine the levels of well-being of elderly caregivers in these centers. Given the likelihood that formal caregivers will experience various conditions, it is imperative to consider their emotional health and well-being. To address this problem, a sociodemographic sheet and the WHOQOL-BREF Scale were implemented, developed by the Quality of Life Assessment Group of the World Health Organization in 1996. This scale evaluated four domains: physical, psychological, social and environmental, in a population of 31 formal caregivers. The research was carried out under a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design and a descriptive scope. The results obtained revealed a positive perception in terms of quality of life and health well-being at a general level, although the environmental domain was identified as the most affected. In relation to the identification of sociodemographic characteristics, it was observed that mestizo women, aged 50 years or older, exhibited better psychological mastery and higher quality of life. This finding was followed by the group of participants between the ages of 30 and 39, who stood out in the physical health dimension.Item Descripción de las características psicológicas de los deportistas del club de fútbol UCuenca de la Universidad de Cuenca, periodo 2024 - 2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-19) Calle Estrella, Gustavo Alejandro; Pillco Chuqui, Silvia Carolina; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaThe psychological characteristics of athletes play a crucial role in sports performance, affecting both individual performance and collective dynamics. This study aimed to describe the psychological characteristics of 35 footballers from the UCuenca Football Club of the University of Cuenca during the period 2024-2025, analyzing their relationship with performance in a competitive context. The research used a quantitative approach, with a non- experimental and cross-sectional design. For data collection, the questionnaire "Psychological Characteristics Related to Sports Performance (CPRD)" was used, which evaluates five dimensions: stress control, mental ability, influence of performance evaluation, group cohesion and motivation, complemented by a sociodemographic form. The results showed a predominance in mental ability, linked to quick decision making and sustained concentration, and in motivation, understood as the drive and persistence to optimize performance. However, low scores were observed in group cohesion, which could indicate a weak emotional bond between team members, possibly affecting collective dynamics and the achievement of joint goals. These findings highlight the importance of integrating specific psychological strategies to strengthen group cohesion and maximize overall sporting performance.Item Discursos frente a una masculinidad hegemónica de representantes de asociaciones escuelas en la Universidad de Cuenca durante el período académico marzo agosto 2022(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-09-21) Agreda Lavanda, Adalid Yaneysi; Flores León, Mayra Valeria; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaThe research problem is based on the persistence of the challenges in the University of Cuenca for the deconstruction of a hegemonic masculinity, given that 1 out of every 2 students has suffered sexual harassment (Universidad de Cuenca, 2022), and the 83% students’ indifference to traditional masculinity ideology (Orellana and Yanza, 2018). According to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility (2018), until September 2018, there was a migratory balance registry of 215,000 Venezuelan citizens in the country, this is mainly due to political character, economic and social humanitarian crisis that their country is facing. The migratory phenomenon generates stress, which supposes an imbalance in an individual that would imply risks in their physical and mental health, an effect that in the future may turn into psychological disorders that will affect the migrant's quality of life and development within new context. It is considered important to understand how the migrant copes with the migratory process and to know the strategies they use to face it. Therefore, this research aims to expose strategies to cope with the stress caused by the migratory process in Venezuelan immigrants residing in the city of Cuenca. The population was chosen through a non-probabilistic convenience sampling, with a descriptive scope. The uprising information gathered with the help of the Stress Coping Questionnaire (CAE). However, its frequent use can bring with it several problems that are similar to chemical addictions, as indicated by Griffts (2005), who points out 6 similar symptoms between the so-called behavioral and chemical addictions. Consequently, it is believed that the use of social networks can impair the development of social skills, because they are behaviors learned by observation (Caballo, 1996). For this reason, the social skills of psychology students can be vulnerable and bring problems in relation to the functions performed by a professional psychologist, such as being an expert in interpersonal relationships, which implies the management of social skills (Santos, 2017). The main objective of this study was to establish the relationship between the use of social networks and social skills in students of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca. To develop this research, a non-experimental cross-sectional design was used that claimed to have a correlational scope. We worked with 137 students, to whom the Gismero Social Skills Scale (2010) and the Escurra and Salas Social Media Addiction questionnaire (2014) were applied. The results showed a significant correlation between the excessive use of social networks and the development of social skills. In addition to a medium level of development of social skills at a general level, with the exception of the dimension “make requests”. Regarding addiction to social networks, a high level of risk was not found at the general level of the student body, although the minimum percentage of students with a high level of risk in addiction to social networks show a low level of social skills.Item La educación virtual como factor para el estrés laboral en docentes de Educación General Básica de las instituciones privadas de la ciudad de Cuenca, en el periodo 2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-10-13) Duchi Armijos, Ruth Priscila; Heredia Loja, Mónica Fabiola; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaThe current health crisis caused by COVID19 has impacted the education field in the aspect education has been given using the virtual modality. Positive resilience is characterized by the ability to cope effectively with stress, generating beneficial transformations in the individual. On the other hand, negative resilience implies a less effective coping with stress, causing difficulties in dealing with pressures. Academic stress, on the other hand, is defined as the increased pressure experienced by students during the learning process, either in an academic environment or during individual study. This increased pressure is attributed to excessive demands that exceed the student's coping capacity. The objective of this study is to identify the relationship between resilience and academic stress in third level psychology students at the University of Cuenca. The methodology adopted is a quantitative approach, with a nonexperimental, cross-sectional and correlational design. The population under study comprises 86 students, with a final sample of 72 participants. That is why this research seeks to understand this reality from the perspective of former persons deprived of liberty, to investigate and describe how their process of labor rehabilitation and subsequent work reintegration has been; and how personal and contextual factors influence so that you can have effective rehabilitation and work reintegration despite not having an ideal space within the Macas Social Rehabilitation Center. The research was of a qualitative, descriptive-exploratory approach, 7 former persons deprived of liberty participated, to whom, a semi-structured interview was applied to collect the perceptions in their rehabilitation and labor reintegration process after having served a custodial sentence. The results have made it possible to describe the process experienced by people deprived of liberty, in some cases of discrimination; in others, the support of their social and family networks. According to the results obtained, we can conclude that CRS Macas does not provide the guarantee for a successful process of rehabilitation and reintegration of persons deprived of liberty; since there is no responsibility of the State in the process, for which the labor reintegration, after the recovery of freedom is a personal process and the result of individual self-regulation and the socio-family support that formerprisoners of freedom receive, outside of the CRSItem Percepciones de los terapeutas: un análisis fenomenológico de la terapia cognitivo conductual para la prevención del suicidio en Cuenca en el periodo 2024 - 2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-18) Arcentales López, María Paz; Paute Nieves, Walter Alexander; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaSuicide represents a global challenge that impacts people of all ages, genders, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and is a topic that has been widely studied from various psychological approaches. The findings highlight that CBT is perceived as a highly effective tool to reduce suicide risk, provided that its application is adequate, comprehensive and flexible, facing and overcoming contextual barriers.Item Rasgos de personalidad en adolescentes en relación con la disciplina deportiva que practican en la Federación Deportiva del Azuay en el periodo 2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-02-09) Bustamante Ojeda, Dayana Carlina; Cedillo Rodríguez, Joseline Maite; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaSport and personality maintain a close relationship that has been studied since the sixties and seventies through Sports Psychology. In this sense, carrying out sports activities is associated with personality traits such as responsibility and extraversion. In particular, it is the personality characteristics of each subject that determine their behavior, within these, choosing a sport. However, in the selection of a sports discipline other factors influence, in this case, socializing agents such as: parents, siblings, peers, coaches, among others. Taking this premise into account, the objective of the research was to identify the personality traits in adolescents of the Azuay Sports Federation in the 2020 period and analyze the relationship that is maintained with the sports discipline they practice and external influences. The approach was quantitative, with a crosssectional research design and a correlational scope. We worked with 34 adolescents from the soccer and basketball disciplines to whom the Neo Reduced Inventory of five factors (NEO-FFI) was applied in its Spanish version; as well as a sociodemographic file. The results show a predominance of the neuroticism trait, while the extraversion trait was the lowest. It is concluded that there is not specifically in this study a relationship between personality traits, extrinsic influences and the choice of sport; however, a relationship was found between the sport practiced by a relative and the sport of the participant.Item Rasgos de personalidad y ansiedad en mujeres con obesidad en el Programa de Cirugía Bariátrica del Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social de Cuenca en el periodo 2019-2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-09-21) Crespo Chacha, Melissa Estefanía; Matamoros Ordoñez, Andrea María; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaObesity is a disease of multifactorial etiology, it is related to environmental and genetic factors as well as sociocultural and psychological factors, the latter have not been studied in the same way as the factors of medical aspects (García & Creus, 2016). The problem with this disease is that it is essentially treated from the medical side and psychological considerations are excluded, which is an error if we review that, in the first consultation for overweight and obesity, many of the patients spontaneously express expressions in which allude to the term anxiety as a cause of excessive food intake (Tapia, 2006). In addition to this, it is worth mentioning that over the years it has been believed that there are certain personality traits that predispose, favor or determine this disease (Guzmán, Del Castillo & García, 2010). The objective of the investigation was to determine the relationship that exists between personality traits, sociodemographic variables (age, level of education, occupation, marital status, number of children and age from which obesity is present) with the degree of anxiety that presented by the women who participate in the Bariatric Surgery program of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security of Cuenca. The research has a quantitative approach, non-experimental type of design, correlational scope, the participants were 37 women belonging to the aforementioned Program. The results showed that there is a significant correlation between personality traits, from the 16PF5 questionnaire, apprehension, tension, and the anxiety dimension with the Hamilton anxiety assessment, in addition to a positive correlation between the age of diagnosis of the disorder and the presence of anxiety. In conclusion, we can say that there are certain predominant personality traits in the group of participants with characteristics such as concrete thinking, resistance to change, distant and emotionally changing; thus, the later the diagnosis of obesity is, the greater the level of anxiety they presentItem Relación entre autoestima y dependencia emocional en estudiantes universitarios de Medicina Veterinaria con relaciones de pareja: Un estudio en la Universidad de Cuenca, 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-05-14) Pillacela Carpio, Paola Marisol; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaUniversity students assume affective roles that lead them to a behavior of dissatisfaction, a phenomenon catalogued as emotional dependence, recognized as a problem that affects their self-esteem, mainly when they are forming love bonds. The objective was to determine the relationship between self-esteem and emotional dependence in university students of Veterinary Medicine with couple relationships. In this research with a quantitative approach, correlational scope and non- experimental cross-sectional design, 107 students with couple relationships, selected by non-probabilistic sampling, participated. They were evaluated by means of a sociodemographic card, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the Emotional Dependence Questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out with SPSS V-25, with tests such as Kolmogorov-Smirnov for normality, Pearson's Chi-square (X2) and Spearman's Correlation test. Significance of 0.05 was considered. 51.40% female (N=55) 47.66% male (N=51) 0.93% other gender (N=1), with a mean age of 22.31 years. 41.12% (N=44) presented low self-esteem, and 48.60% (N=52) emotional dependence. No statistically significant correlation was found between self-esteem and emotional dependence (r=0.91, p= 0.354).Item Relación entre autoestima y dependencia emocional en relaciones de pareja de estudiantes de la carrera de Enfermería de la Universidad de Cuenca, periodo 2022 - 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-04-24) Zhizhpón Figueroa, Wilson Alexander; Delgado Quezada, Tania LorenaSelf-esteem is considered one of the forecasters that stands out the most in the degree of psychological adjustment during the life cycle, it is related to the emotional state, feelings, attitudes of conformity or nonconformity of oneself and it is promising for the performance of the daily life to the fullest. On the other hand, emotional dependence is a problem in which emotional and behavioral aspects are involved, it is related to the mistaken beliefs that people have regarding love and life as a couple, causing awkwardness to those who suffer from it. Therefore, this research proposed as a general objective to determine the relationship between self-esteem and emotional dependence in the relationships of third-semester students of the Nursing major at the University of Cuenca, during the time-period 2022-2023. This investigation was carried out under a quantitative approach of correlational scope with a non- experimental - cross-sectional design. The population involved 96 students, of which we worked with a non-probabilistic sample until reaching 30 students. The applied instruments were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Lemos and Londoño Emotional Dependency Questionnaire, and a sociodemographic file adapted by the author. The results of this research were that 48.7.% of the participants presented high levels of self-esteem and 79.5% low levels of emotional dependence, besides, no significant correlation was found between these two variables (r=.000); which means that each variable acts independently on the participants.
