Item Actualización del inventario de atractivos turísticos de la parroquia principal del cantón Chordeleg con la metodología del Ministerio de Turismo (2017)(2020-08-12) Jacho Torres, Estefanía Carolina; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaUpdating the tourist attraction inventory of the Main Parish, Chordeleg canton is necessary for the cataloguing and valuation of touristic attractions with an valuation of touristic attractions with an outlook towards tourism development with data based on updated research. To achieve the objectives, the Methodology for the Hierarchy of Attractions and Generation of Tourist Spaces in Ecuador-2017 Ministry of Tourism was employed, through field observation, the reviewing of reports from secondary sources, semi- structured interviews with Autonomous Decentralized Parish Government authorities and in the local community. This intervention project includes updating, identifying, the registration, weighting, hierarchy, association and classification of natural and cultural attractions of the Main Parish, with the objective of facilitating tourism in the area.Item Actualización del inventario de atractivos turísticos del cantón Paute según la metodología del Ministerio de Turismo 2017(2020-02-17) Anguisaca Rojas, Karla Vanessa; Salto Encalada, Jacqueline Marlene; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaThe present intervention project entitled Updating the inventory of tourist attractions in Paute canton according to the methodology of the Ministry of Tourism 2017 represents an information tool, which identifies sites of tourist interest and prioritizes those that present the best conditions to receive visitors, therefore, it is a basis for tourism planning in the canton. The Decentralized Autonomous Governments (GADs) have several competencies in the tourism field, one of them is to maintain an updated Inventory of tourist attractions. Paute canton has an inventory of attractions elaborated with the Ministry of Tourism methodology of 2004, in which twenty-two attractions were identified; however, in 2017 a new Methodology was issued. This project updates the Inventory under this methodology and takes as base the information of the previous inventory, the Development Plans and Territorial Ordination, and complements it with interviews with presidents and personnel in charge of the tourist area of each one of the parish GADs and some of the local population; with it 54 sites of tourist interest are identified, 22 correspond to tourist attractions and 32 are tourist resources.Item Actualización del inventario de atractivos turísticos naturales y culturales del cantón Paute de la provincia del Azuay(2016) Zhirzhán Abad, Jessica Fernanda; Zhunio Llanzhi, Jorge Geovanny; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaThe present intervention Project entitled "Updating natural and cultural touristic attractions inventory of Paute canton, Azuay province"plays an important role in order to potentiate the tourist activity of the canton Paute that is because they constitute the beginning of a touristic chain and also the responsible for people to travel. Nowadays the decentralized self-government of canton Paute does not have an inventory of tourist attractions; however, the Land Use and Development Planning (PDYOT) shows detailed information about the undocumented tourist attractions located in its parishes for that reason it was necessary to create and update its information, using the methodology suggested by the Ministry of Tourism. As a result of this intervention project thirty-nine tourist attractions were identified among them twenty-one are classified as natural attractions and eighteen as cultural attractions. Finally, by ranking and evaluating all the attractions it was possible to identify nine natural tourist attractions and thirteen cultural attractions.Item Análisis de la estructura del sistema político-turístico de las entidades que regulan la actividad turística en la ciudad de Cuenca 2016(2017) Tobar Pillco, Mónica Alexandra; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaThe research project consists of analyzing the structure of the tourist-political system in the city of Cuenca in the year 2016, in order to know in a concise way the functions that develop the different entities that regulate the tourist activity in the city. In the investigation an analysis is made on the functions of the entities that control the tourism in the city, as well as inquire about the historical events of the management of the tourist activity of Cuenca in the last twenty years. The main intention of this study is to identify the public and private entities that regulate the tourism activity of the Cuenca city, for which it is necessary to refer to the definition of tourism policy and tourist governance. It is also essential to determine the consequences of tourism administration in the city during the years 2011-2016, regarding the work of the entities that manage tourism development in Cuenca.Item Análisis de la importancia del servicio al cliente en el Museo Pumapungo(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-09-27) Zambrano Portilla, Bárbara Johanna; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaThrough this study we have been able to determine how important customer service is at the Pumapungo Museum, since it has been shown that due to deficiencies such as: the lack of interest shown by the staff for visitors, an interrogant that in the survey conducted, reflected dissatisfaction on the part of visitors, thus yielding a result of 43.3% of those who are dissatisfied with this situation. Secondly, aspects such as: the communication used to address tourists, or shortcomings in terms of accessibility, are comments found in the museum book that cause havoc with visitors, affecting the image of the museum and in turn causing a bad experience, which in time becomes negative publicity for the place. In order to alleviate these deficiencies, some strategies have been proposed to help change or improve the reception area, create a response system for complaints and claims, train staff, among others. Visitor.Item Análisis de la percepción de los prestadores de servicios turísticos ante la delincuencia extorsiva del Centro Histórico de Cuenca, Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-12) Flores Quezada, Karol Paulina; Quichimbo Bueno, Erika Juliana; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaThis research addresses the need to analyze the perceptions of tourism service providers in the face of extortion crime in the Historic Center of Cuenca. Understanding the phenomenon of racketeering (extortion) in relation to tourism from a theoretical perspective, and with the identification of the main concerns of tourism service providers in relation to extortion crime in the city. In addition, to explore the initiatives taken by tourism service providers in Cuenca to mitigate extortion crime. The methodology used in this study was qualitative through the application of semi-structured interviews at convenience, aimed at the different establishments of tourism service providers in the city. For the results, the inductive-deductive discourse analysis technique was used through the Atlas Ti 23 software. Based on the results, the study concluded that, in the study area, the existence of cases of extortion is very low compared to other areas of the city. On the other hand, the main concerns of tourism providers are the economic repercussions, as well as the personal and establishment safety in the face of this criminal activity. It should also be noted that there is a strong negative perception of the performance of the public sector due to the inadequacy of effective measures and the lack of sustained support in terms of security, which directly affects the economy of the tourism sector and generates mistrust among tourism service providers.Item Análisis de los atractivos naturales y culturales para potenciar el turismo en la parroquia Ducur, cantón Cañar(2016) Pomaquiza Yupa, Nelly Cristina; Barzallo Neira, Cristina Andrea.Taking in to account the importance of the cultural and natural richness of Ecuador, and that because biodiversity and multicultural is the touristic area has blossomed over the last few years. This research paper consists on an analysis of the natural and cultural attractions in Ducur, it is a mall city which is located three hours from Cuenca, on the road to the coast, in the province of Cañar. Ducur within its 17 communities covers a variety of flora, fauna, culture and traditions that just a few communities have managed to keep. This investigative paper collects information of natural attractions and cultural in the region,which does not have many tourist influences, several places are visited by local people who are unaware of the meaning and an attractive of Ducur. The attractions are easily accessible in the reared some mall roads that are not far from the main road. The authorities of the communities consider the attractions can be a major factor on this population development and could enhance their economic income. It is based on the tourist signaling manuals in force management of protected natural areas of Ecuador. The research work covers three chapters; the first one includes the introduction to tourist signaling, the background, classification, characteristics, role and importance. The second chapter deals with the tourist signs present in the Cajas National Park, general information of the area and its graphical elements; and the third chapter, refers to the elaboration of a proposal contributing to the improvement of the tourist signs of the protected area.Item Análisis de los vínculos entre la gastronomía y la agroecología para la consecución de iniciativas de turismo sostenible en la ciudad de Cuenca, caso Ruta G(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-03-16) Guiracocha Quinde, Johanna Elizabeth; Moscoso Pallazhco, Gabriela Alexandra; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaThe aim of this study is to analyze the links between the gastronomy and agroecology for the achievement of sustainable tourism initiatives in the city of Cuenca, based on the Ruta G case. The investigation that has been developed has a qualitative approach of exploratory scope. First of all, a mapping of actors based on participatory methodologies was used to identify to the agroecological actors that are related to the gastronomic-tourist offer from the city. Subsequently, semi-structured interviews were carried out using a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience to public actors such as: the Ministry of Tourism and the Prefecture of Azuay and private as: Route G, Association of Agricultural Producers Yanuncay, restaurants and other associations agricultural production to explore the public and private links between agricultural production agroecology and the gastronomic offer of the city of Cuenca, and finally again semi-structured interviews were conducted to analyze the initiative Ruta G within the framework of the integration between gastronomy and agroecology through the sustainability of tourism in the city of Cuenca. It should be noted that the interviews were interpreted through a hermeneutic analysis forming semantic networks in Atlas Ti software. version 8. As a result, it was obtained that Route G was a prototype that linked the offer gastronomic and agroecological for the achievement of tourism initiatives sustainable, however, due to the short time that it operated its routes, it could not demonstrate the real impact it could generate. Therefore, if Route G reactivates its operations must execute some actions that seek sustainability to so that it serves as a model to implement or create similar projects. Keywords Agroecology, sustainable tourism, Ruta G, gastronomic route.Item Análisis de satisfacción de los visitantes del Museo y Parque Arqueológico Pumapungo(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-11-22) Astudillo Naula, Nathaly Gissella; Brito Román, Andrea Katherine; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaThe valuable role of museums in the tourism sector determines the importance of offering their visitors quality services; in turn, it forces to consider high expectations they have about tourist experiences, and that are increasingly demanding in terms of excellent services. This has generated the need to rethink tourism activities and analyze if the enhancement of their resources yields good results. Thus, the traditional way of managing a museum has been left in the past, it is necessary to establish a community that enjoys exceptional experiences, and allow the visitor to interact with their senses to highlight the capacity for admiration and illusion. This study shows that the Pumapungo Museum and Archaeological Park does not analyze the satisfaction of its visitors, and from this, establishes as its general objective, to identify the level of satisfaction of its visitors in the period 2021-2022. The research approach was mixed, descriptive and cross-sectional, which allowed to diagnose the current tourism management of the museum through semi- structured interviews and the measurement of the satisfaction of its visitors through the application of surveys based on the SERVQUAL model. The data obtained were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics with the Wilcoxon, Pearson Chi Square and Cross Tables statistics. Among the results obtained, it is evident that there is dissatisfaction of visitors about the quality of service received at the Pumapungo Museum and Archaeological Park. Keywords: Satisfaction. It has several resources that can be used to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants. Tourism is an activity that not only generates economic returns also helps preserve and protect the natural, cultural, tangible and intangible resources. This paper is focused on analyzing the tourism potential of the Parish Tarqui especially for developing rural tourism is a type of tourism that is growing day by day. For this reason this paper makes an analysis of the current situation of the parish Tarqui for important data that allows us to make a better proposal. Besides mapping attractions and tourist facilities available in Tarqui it is done and finally two routes designed for a full day of activities.Item Análisis para la creación de un portafolio de productos turísticos del cantón el Tambo(2016) Mayancela Nivelo, Ana Lucia; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaThe present research paper was conducted in the Canton El Tambo, province of Cañar. The general objective is to analyze the actual tourist attractions of this city in order to create a portfolio of them. As well as it reflects on its use to expand Tambo´s tourism offer. The specific objectives are: "To analyze the information about the tourist attractions of the canton el Tambo; identify the tourist products of the canton; identify optimal distribution channels for the expansion of the tourism portfolio". The research method used was qualitative and quantitative, descriptive observation, classified methods on the field. The main findings of this paper were: the evolution of tourism in Ecuador and the Canton El Tambo, how tourism has evolved over the years and the entities that have helped on this development. Learn all the fundamental aspects of the canton el Tambo, enabling the development of the local economy, through agricultural and livestock production; private entrepreneurship and because of remittances household savings; and allowing access to all basic services to the local population. The research follows a mixed paradigm and it is nourished by the analysis of scientific papers, official data from the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador and the Visit Book of the museums analyzed that corresponds to the years 2016, 2017 and 2018. The quantitative data related to the visits of the cultural tourist to museums are interpreted from the concepts related to cultural tourism. With the previous corpus, the analysis and comparison of the information obtained was carried out by applying descriptive statistics tools and the SPSS version 23 program. The research establishes the potential demands of the public made up of foreign cultural tourists from museums in Cuenca and the challenges to improve the museography, guidance and attention, specifically of those who are involved with the museum institution and cultural tourism.Item Estrategias para la reapertura de siete museos en la ciudad de Cuenca en el contexto de la pandemia por COVID-19(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-08-19) Arias Rodríguez, Jenny Paulina; Méndez León, Giselle Fernanda; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaThis study analyzes the strategies taken for the reopening, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, of seven museums in the city of Cuenca: Museo de Arte Religioso Catedral Vieja, Museo de las Conceptas, Museo del Sombrero de Paja Toquilla, Museo Municipal de Arte Moderno, Museo Municipal Remigio Crespo Toral, Museo y Parque Arqueológico Pumapungo y Reserva y Museo de las Artes Populares de América-CIDAP. These museums were selected because until before the pandemic they were operating regularly and are part of the Route of museums of the Municipal Tourism Foundation for Cuenca, the entity in charge of tourism in the city. The methodology used for this research was mixed. The qualitative approach allowed access to information through the development of semi-structured interviews with museum managers and field visits to demonstrate the biosecurity measures implemented by each museum. In addition, data collection verified the activity carried out by the establishments on social networks. The quantitative approach of the research allowed a statistical representation of the number of in-person visitors registered in the museums under study, during the period from September 2020 to March 2021. The study provides information about the first actions of museum staff in the face of indefinite closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also summarizes the strategies carried out by the institutions that included the implementation of biosecurity measures along with the creation and dissemination of digital content on social networks. The efficiency of the measures implemented in each museum was reflected in the number of visits that the institutions recorded in the context of the health emergency.Item Estrategias tomadas por los guías de turismo de la provincia del Azuay en el contexto de la pandemia por covid-19. Año 2020 – 2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-04-04) Alvarado Cedeño, Mónica Daniela; Bravo Ramón, Gabriela Lisseth; Barzallo Neira, Cristina AndreaAbstract This paper identifies the strategies taken by the Tourist Guides of the Province of Azuay in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Around the world, the multiple repercussions generated by the paralysis of tourist activities have been evidenced, in which the harmful economic consequences, the limited development of certain tourist destinations, and fundamentally the impossibility of working of their actors stand out. This study highlights the complex situation that tourist guides have gone through in the province of Azuay during the pandemic, which is why they have had to look for work options different from their usual activities. On the other hand, the strategies implemented by the guides to cope with the change, their expectations and perceptions, the resilient behavior they have had to adopt, and what they have learned in the midst of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic are presented. The mixed methodology used for this research allowed to achieve the objectives set. On the one hand, the qualitative approach facilitated access to information through the development of semi-structured interviews with representatives of the entities of the tourism sector considered the most important for this analysis: the Corporation of Guides and Tourism Professionals of Azuay and the Ministry of Tourism in order to know the resilient behavior of tourism guides to cope with the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, the quantitative approach made it possible to collect statistical data, through surveys carried out to the Tourist Guides that provide their services in the province of Azuay, whose database is based on the cadaster with which the Ministry of Tourism has to guarantee the results of this analysis. It examines ingredients, traditional techniques and the cultural importance of these sweets, in relation to the culinary identity of the country, while simultaneously evaluating how they can become valuable resources for the practice of gastronomic tourism, the most important type of tourism that is developed in the territories, as it allows attracting visitors and promoting the culinary richness of the destinations. The study offers a comprehensive view of the relationship between gastronomy and tourism, highlighting the relevance of preserving and promoting traditional sweets as part of the cultural heritage and tourist attraction. For this reason, the value of the production and sale of traditional sweets by region is identified, as well as their tourist use. This is done through the identification and analysis of the cultural, historical, economic and social value of the production and sale. The research process was carried out through documentary review, based on books, scientific articles, press, newspapers, and interviews with people knowledgeable about the subject, with the idea of understanding the context first-hand and recognizing the effort of those who work in its elaboration. This made it possible to explore how Ecuadorian regional sweets can contribute to the tourist attraction and the motivation to travel that gastronomy generates for the tourist visit. Therefore, this research enriches Ecuador's limited culinary narrative, and strengthens its position in the international tourism market, through the highly desired gastronomic valuation.Item Identification of the Main Lines of Research in Gastronomic Tourism: A Review of the Literature(2023) Barzallo Neira, Cristina Andrea; Pulido Fernández, Juan IgnacioThis article presents a review of research trends in gastronomic tourism. The objective is to identify the main lines of research of this type of tourism based on the scientific production published in the last five years in three scientific databases. It is an exploratory, descriptive, and analytical study based on a comprehensive narrative review and content analysis methodology. The study is pioneering as there are no previous image works applied to the city. On the other hand, the study is carried out with a source of qualitative information: the testimonies written in the Visiting Books. In terms of application, the work is useful for tourism managers in order to influence the reality of the sector. The findings indicate that Cuenca-Ecuador is perceived by its visitors as a city that is distinguished by its historical-cultural legacy.Publication La artesanía del “Panama Hat” y su preservación en el Economuseo Municipal Casa del Sombrero en Cuenca-Ecuador(2020) Avecillas Torres, Ángeles Imelda; Sarmiento Sempértegui, Silvia Doménica; Barzallo Neira, Cristina Andrea; Torres León, LeonardoThe toquilla straw hat inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is a cultural tourist attraction in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador, known worldwide as Panama Hat. The article reviews the history of the toquilla straw weaving and analyzes the workshops that are given in the Economuseo Municipal Casa del Sombrero, it considers the consequences for the conservation of this tradition, which is close to 200 years of development, of cultural and economic importance, and great tourist interest. Methodologically, the work is inscribed in a quantitative-qualitative vision that identifies and processes pertinent information from academic and scientific articles, analyzes data from official entities by means of descriptive statistical tools, in the light of concepts of cultural tourism. The work establishes the sociodemographic characteristics of the people who enrolled in the workshops, their motivations, the execution or not of what they learned and the expectations of application, thus configuring the perspective for crafts in future study. Young people have little interest of the in the toquilla straw weaving: the socio-demographic characteristics of the people who take toquilla straw weaving workshops are made up of women between 20 and 60 years of age who have this work as a complement to their main economic activity, while the interest among men is marginal.
