In some countries, traditional medicine or conventional medicine is often called complementary medicine. These activities have undergone profound changes, and the values that people have in relation to this type of medicine are disappearing with dizzying speed although the World Health Organization dictates strategies for implementation and the Ministry of Health of Ecuador recognizes its value . However there was a study on the techniques used by these service providers whether they doctor, healer, naturist, magician, herbalist, warlock, shaman or midwife between users and users of the health center "Carlos Elizalde". GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Characterization of the application of traditional medicine in users and users of the Health Center "Carlos Elizalde". METHODOLOGY: A descriptive quantitative study that characterized the application of traditional medicine in users and users of the Health Center "Carlos Elizalde" City of Cuenca. The method used was the type interview prior survey informed consent made according to criteria of inclusion and exclusion to a universe of 110 users and users in the tabulation SPSS Windows and Excel software was used, and these were analyzed in simple tables and graphics. The 81.58% always used gloves in procedures requiring its use. The 39.47% never used protection when suctioning secretions glasses. The 76.32% always used mask in the care of patients with respiratory problems. The 50% cap always used in performing special procedures as in the preparation of parenteral nutrition. The 65.79% always used the apron or even exclusively in the workspace. The 89.47% if immunized against hepatitis B. The 92.11% if they are immunized against tetanus. The shows are: 91 students of the first Unified General Baccalaureate A and C, second A, 30 teachers and 5 Authorities which is the total universe, it obtained clear results on the lack of teachers on sexual rights and inefficient systems information and learning about it, all this leads to the need for alternative solutions making the learning process a part of the educational system as a transversal axis in all areas. MATERIALS AND METHODS The type is Qualitative and Quantitative Research, design is descriptive. The universe is made up of 91 students Baccalaureate General Unified calculation was performed by applying a formula sample statistical sample being 91 students, 30 teachers and 5 Campus authorities. The disease is caused by different micro-organisms that cause epidemics in winter months; it adds social and environmental conditions where the children live. Patients diagnosed as having Pneumonia, who went to pediatric emergency from “Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso” were 97 during the months of May, June and July 2013. Objective: In this context the present study finds pneumonia social – environmental determinants in children who went to pediatric emergency from Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso during the months from May to July 2013. Method and Materials: it was a descriptive investigation. The study universe was formed for all of the patients with pneumonia who joined to pediatric emergency. The formula was applied and it showed 77 cases diagnosed with Pneumonia. The patients joined during the months of May, June and July whose mothers agreed to cooperated with the study. The techniques and research tools of the investigation were the review of a patient's history, the interview, home visit registration forms which were applied to families with the parent’s prior informed consent or guardians. Microsoft Office Excel was used for the information tab and to elaborated of tables and graphs from the variables. Results Male sex is prevalent getting pneumonia illness in comparison with female sex with 30%, children are repeatedly admitted for pneumonia 82% of them are under one and 53% comes from rural area. The parents of these children are young with low levels of education 31% and their economic income 53% getting a relationship with overcrowded dwellings 56%. The investigation shows that 56% of children have malnutrition. The nursing staff in preventing malnutrition plays an important role because they have the knowledge necessary health about the causes and effects that cause malnutrition and thus can plan activities focused on prevention of malnutrition. As mentioned above it was necessary to conduct this study to determine the role of nurses in preventing malnutrition in younger infants in the People's Medical Center Azogues, November 2013 - April 2014 This work was performed under the descriptive research designs, data were collected through a questionnaire, a structured interview, consent, lasting approximately 10-15 minutes was used during the months of November and December 2013 and January 2014, Monday to Friday from 08H00 to 14H30, except holidays. To gather information, 2 surveys were used formats, with multiple choice questions, developed by the authors of the research, which for validation underwent pilot testing with patients in the same health center. The results indicate that nurses by 33% just focus on the assessment and 16.6 the following stages of nursing care which discloses that do not perform a complete and comprehensive method applies despite it is essential to identify problems and plan activities based nursing. Those situations can affect physical, familiar, social, and psychological dimensions. These dimensions, which are in risk, are potentiated because of the teenager’s ignorance to face them. The way teenagers try to solve the situations are not appropriated and their physical and psychological health are in risk. General objective: To determine risky situations and the ways the teenagers employ for coping these situations. Methodology: This current research is a descriptive crossectional study. It was aimed to the teenagers from the “Unidad Educativa Temporal Miguel Merchán Ochoa” who are registered and attending regularly to the night section of this high school. The techniques used in this study were the survey, direct observation, and documentary compilation. The survey used as an instrument was formulated by the authors of this study. It contains socio – demographic data and it pretends to obtain the most important information about the risky situations which the teenagers are exposed to and a coping scale for teenagers (ACS) from the author Frydenberg, E. y Lewis, R. published in 1993. The data were analyzed and tabulated by using Excel and SPSS 15,0 version in Spanish, these programs were used in windows. The results were conducted using frequency statistical tables represented as percentages Results: Between the 165 teens that were part of this study, it was found that the more predominant risk situations were: the first one is violence where the 79% of the students suffer from any kind of violence while the 21% do not have any violent situation. Migration is another risk situation in which 78% of the teenagers have a member of their family living in another country and the 22% do not have any relative living in another country. Another situation was sexuality, in which 76% of the teenagers have risky sexual intercourse while the other 21% do not have sexual intercourse. Finally, drugs are also another risky situation where 51% of the teenagers take drugs and the 49% do not. It was found that the teenagers react in different ways when they have problems, 39% of the teenagers solve their problems by themselves, 34% of the teenagers have problems when they have to solve a problem and 27% relate their problems with others. Conclusion: The results of this research show the main situations of risk to which they are exposed adolescents as violence, migration, risky sex and consumption of any drugs. The one that it was made possible for thanks to the collaboration of the director, teachers, family men and student body of the same; Being 308 Universe and obtaining 76 first class children's Sign. They suffer first class children's majority of the study of low weight according to parameters established in the World Health Organization, with the following results: With 78.90% of low weight; with 11.80% of overweight, only normal weight and 0% of Obesity have the 9.20%. Predominates the diet hyper-coal load that has an effect on negatively the students' nutrition. The families' socioeconomic status is softly, the cost-reducing entrance of the homes is not enough for supplying the family’s needs, since the value of the basic basket ranks above the perceived wage levels. The majority of the family men of the indicated homes they have sent the complete primary school, performing day laborer’s works, the investigated families' low educational level determines also the characteristics of the diets consumed at the homes. Material and Methods: It is a cross-sectional descriptive study, to determine the prevalence of the low weight, overweight and obesity in niños/as of 7 to 12 years of the School “Carlos Rigoberto Vintimilla” of the Corner River basin. The source of the obtained data is primary; criteria emitted by the family parents and anthropometric data of the studied children. The integrated universe of 212 students and one shows of 156 who were taken at random from equitable way between the parallels. Results: In the chapters of presentation and information one was the variables, and the tables ordinates according to the logic of the forms of information harvesting organize tables of frequencies, graphs, calculations of indices averages and percentiles. The starting point was the recognition of the institution, continuing with the collection of data from the school facilitated by the director, likewise the number of children enrolled during the 2010-2011 school period was investigated. The application of the survey form was made to obtain information about the socioeconomic conditions of the families. It was with the authorization of the parents to be able to carry out the research study in their children. We proceeded with the taking of weight and height of the boys and girls corresponding to the established ages, establishing coordination with the principal and teachers of each of the grades. In the research process: the universe consisted of 110 students, on which the statistical formula was applied, obtaining a sample of 53 students. The data obtained were processed through the microphyte office and Excel programs and analyzed, comparing them with the Nelson forms and the weight - age and height - age percentiles according to the growth curves of the NCHS (National Center for Health Statistics) and columns of the assessment of the BMI (Body Mass Index.) According to the research carried out, the following results were obtained: 66% of the children are in the 25th to 75th percentile, which indicates a normal weight, 13. 10% are found with a weight deficit and 20.5% are underweight. they find themselves with an excess of weight
