The current research propose to apply the representative resources of the musical aesthetics of Thelonious Monk through adaptations of his compositions for the format of a jazz quintet. The first chapter describe the style, the trajectory and the musical language of Monk. The second chapter delves into the Blues, the Swing and the Rhythm Changes and characteristic resources of the themes: Blue Sphere, Bolivar Blues, Let´s cool one, Eronel, Humph y Rhythm a Ning from a perspective of the musical analysis.
