Abstract
The current research propose to apply the representative resources of the musical aesthetics of Thelonious Monk through adaptations of his compositions for the format of a jazz quintet. The first chapter describe the style, the trajectory and the musical language of Monk. The second chapter delves into the Blues, the Swing and the Rhythm Changes and characteristic resources of the themes: Blue Sphere, Bolivar Blues, Let´s cool one, Eronel, Humph y Rhythm a Ning from a perspective of the musical analysis.
Resumen
El presente trabajo investigativo propone aplicar recursos representativos de la estética musical de Thelonious Monk a través de adaptaciones de sus composiciones para el formato de un quinteto jazz. El primer capítulo describe el estilo, la trayectoria y el lenguaje musical de Monk. El segundo capítulo profundiza en el Blues, el Swing, el Rhythm Changes y recursos característicos de los temas: Blue Sphere, Bolivar Blues, Let´s cool one, Eronel, Humph y Rhythm a Ning desde una perspectiva del análisis musical.
