Item Depresión y percepción de soledad en profesionales de la salud de la Zona 7 del Ecuador durante el 2022(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-07-01) Hidalgo Serrano, Katty Paola; Andrade Castro, Karla SofíaHealthcare professionals face an increased risk of developing psychological problems, particularly mood disorders such as depression, and may experience intensified feelings of loneliness due to various personal and work-related factors, impacting their overall well-being. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between depression and perception of loneliness among healthcare professionals in Zone 7 of Ecuador. A cross- sectional, non-experimental, descriptive-correlational design was employed, with a sample of 428 participants. Data collection utilized the Sociodemographic and Work Questionnaire, the Patient Health Questionnaire, and the abbreviated version of the Loneliness Scale. The results indicated that 51.17% exhibited minimal levels of depression, while 70.80% experienced low/medium levels of loneliness perception. Correlational analysis revealed that the absence of a partner was significantly associated with higher levels of depression and loneliness. Conversely, age showed an inverse relationship; that is, older age was correlated with lower reported levels of depression and loneliness. Additionally, a statistically significant and positive correlation was found between depression and perception of loneliness, suggesting that an increase in one of these variables is associated with an increase in the other. These findings provide a solid foundation for future research and the development of interventions aimed at promoting the psychological well-being of healthcare personnel.
