Item Análisis de la agroecología, formas de organización, situación, económica, y educativa de agricultores de la parroquia de Sayausí(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-03-25) Bermeo Pintado, Lorena Mireya; Torres Solórzano, Dayse Salomé; Álava Atiencie, Nubia GabrielaThe present study analyzed the current situation of farmers in the rural parish of Sayausí - Cuenca, prioritizing describing their economic, educational, organizational conditions and the level of application of agroecological principles in their productive activities. The methodology applied in this research was case analysis, using quantitative and qualitative techniques for a better understanding of the phenomenon studied. 211 structured surveys were carried out with farmers in the area and 8 in-depth semi-structured interviews. One aspect to highlight is that the sample was segmented between farmers organized in different agroecological associations and those who work independently, that is, not organized, in order to establish comparisons between both groups. Among the main findings, it is worth highlighting firstly that 6 out of every 10 farmers in Sayausí are women, 62.1%, a phenomenon that is directly linked to the so-called “feminization of agriculture” observed in rural areas. Likewise, it was found that 3 out of every 4 agricultural producers in the 76.3% area are integrated into agroecological organizations, evidencing the close relationship between organized participation and better levels of income and education among those who are part of these organizations. However, through this study, women's limited access to leadership and decision-making spaces within these organizations came to light. An encouraging fact is that the participating women showed on average a greater degree of application and commitment to the various principles of agroecology.Item Análisis de la aplicación de los principios agroecológicos en los procesos organizativos y productivos de la asociación “24 de septiembre” de la comunidad de Maras del cantón Paute(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-01-17) León Rojas, Ruth Elizabeth; Álava Atiencie, Nubia GabrielaAgroecology, as an agricultural practice, is based on the harmony between agroecosystems, people and nature. It represents an alternative to the modern agricultural production model, which places food security and sovereignty at serious risk. In this context, the study aims to analyze the application of productive agroecological principles and the organizational components of the Association of organic vegetable producers "24 de septiembre" located in the community of Maras, in the canton of Paute. For this purpose, it applies a comprehensive methodology (quantitative, qualitative and participatory). The results of the study population show that the partners always apply some practices framed in all the agroecological principles and others never. Of the principles identified, their degree of applicability varies, thus a "very good" application of the principle of utilization of local resources is observed, on the contrary, the principle with a "regular" degree of application is the care of water. In terms of its organizational status, the production of organic fertilizer is an important milestone for the association. Its strengths lie in its inter-institutional relations. Among its weaknesses is the lack of a management and business model to ensure its sustainability. Overcoming weaknesses and enhancing strengths involves the implementation of financial, commercial, technological, communication and organizational strategies. In conclusion, the association should strengthen the application of agroecological principles and its organizational components with the support of governmental institutions, in order to enhance local production and guarantee the necessary food for rural and urban communities.Item Análisis de las prácticas alimentarias, prácticas de producción agroecológica en las asociaciones Agroecológicas Ally Causay y APA Azuay y en las comunas Chunazana e Illapamba de la provincia del Azuay(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-05-19) Morocho Morocho, Joseline Andreina; Álava Atiencie, Nubia GabrielaThe concerning situation regarding our consumption habits and resource use, which far exceed the recovery capacity of our ecosystems, compels us to rethink our interactions, both individually and collectively, with the environment. The urgency to ensure food sovereignty and promote sustainable agriculture in the context of climate change has driven research in the province of Azuay. The objective is to analyze food practices and agroecological production, as well as their contribution to food sovereignty and sustainability, in four specific cases: Ally Causay, APA Azuay, Comuna Chunazana, and Comuna Illapamba, identified as agroecological associations in the region. The study is based on the importance of thoroughly understanding these dynamics to promote responsible and sustainable food and agricultural practices. The research methodology is mixed—quantitative and qualitative—with a participatory approach. A survey was conducted to collect quantitative data, followed by qualitative analysis through feedback workshops. The results were validated by the participants before drawing conclusions and recommendations. Among the main findings, it stands out that food practices are significantly influenced by the agroecological principles applied in production, which strengthens food sovereignty and the local economy. It is concluded that these actions improve food security, recommending increased agroecological training and the promotion of local markets.Item El Liderazgo transformacional como potenciador del desempeño laboral y resultados de líderes sociales en Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-10-04) Delgado Torres, Milton Alberto; Álava Atiencie, Nubia GabrielaIt is known that transformational leadership generates a pleasant and appropriate work environment, facilitating a space for cooperation, initiatives, teamwork and, above all, better job performance of people, the goal being the fulfillment of common objectives and goals. Specifically, regarding food consumption, the consumption of healthy and clean products produced ecologicallyis promoted, which at the same time contribute to cultural identity and improve healthy living and consumption habits, moving away from industrialized agriculture that deteriorates people's health and degrades the planet. In this context, the research focused its analysis on the responsible ecological behavior of the consumers of the Austro Agro-ecological Network (RAA) in relation to the consumers of a conventional market, in this case the "El Arenal" market, for which it applied a survey to a representative sample of consumers. The results show that consumers ofthe "RAA" have excellent practices of healthy lifestyles and agro-ecological consumption, while consumers of the "El Arenal" market are in the process of transitioning to a healthier lifestyle, and it is necessary to establish communication strategies to publicize the benefits of consuming agro-ecological products. With respect to the entrepreneurial intention of consumers in the fairs of the "RAA" it is evident that the variables that have an impact are sex, work and marital status, while consumers in the market "El Arenal" are mainly influenced by the gender variable. In conclusion, responsible consumption involves a healthy lifestyle that contributes to environmental care and people's health. In short, it contributes to the sustainability of life, where the agro-ecological fairs, in addition to offering healthy products, generate solidarity and equitable interrelations that motivate the social entrepreneurial intention of the consumers.Item Influencia de aspectos socio-culturales y socio-económicos en la capacidad emprendedora social de actores comunitarios del cantón Guachapala(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-19) Heredia Navos, Marilu Eugenia; Molina Matute, Gisselle Estefania; Álava Atiencie, Nubia GabrielaAt present, humanity is facing crises of all kinds, where social entrepreneurship constitutes an opportunity to generate transformations that contribute to the common good. It is emphasized that food goes beyond a basic necessity, also being a cultural and social construction that influences the organization of societies and the development of cities. The concepts of food systems are defined, which represent the way societies are structured to acquire and consume food. These systems aim to provide food to the population, from the production of seeds, vegetables, and animals, highlighting their typology (Traditional, mixed, and modern). Lifestyle is also defined, constituting patterns of social and cultural behavior observed in various groups. According to Weber (2002), social position is associated with status, prestige, and power, and those who share the same social position tend to adopt similar behavior patterns. Consumers in the Supermaxi and Agro Azuay sectors show a clear preference for fresh and natural foods, with a growing interest in agroecological products. This change suggests a trend towards a more balanced and healthy diet, with a focus on fresh produce and vegetables. These findings highlight the importance of continuing to research and develop strategies to promote healthy and sustainable eating and improve the general well-being of the population. In both Agro Azuay and Supermaxi, there is a clear preference for fresh and agroecological foods acquired at fairs and fruit stands.
