    Evaluación de cambios esqueléticos verticales en pacientes clase ii tratados con aparatología HERBST Y ADVANSYNC: prueba clínica aleatorizada controlada

    The majority of Class II malocclusions are characterized by mandibular retrognathism, the use of a fixed functional appliance is an optimal therapy that generates important changes in the physical, functional and emotional aspects. The aim of the present study was to evaluate vertical skeletal changes in Class II patients, treated with Herbst and Advansync appliances. The sample consisted of 30 patients between 11 and 17 years old and randomized into two groups, a study group (Advansync) and a control group (Herbst). After its installation, the fixed functional appliances were activated every three months; the total treatment time was 9 months. The measurements on the lateral cephalic radiographs were made using Dolphin Digital Imaging and Management Solutions software (version 11.3). The results showed that between the groups Herbst and Advansync were only statistically significant differences in the MP-HP angular measure (p = 0.040) and the mandibular plane angle FMA (p = 0.031) whose value was maintained, decreased (dolicofacial) and increased (brachyfacial), favoring or without affecting the vertical growth pattern in 58.82% of the cases treated with Herbst and in 41.17% of the cases treated with Advansync. It can be concluded that the number of successful cases treated with Herbst and Advansync appliances did not present statistically significant differences
