Satisfacción respecto a la imagen corporal en adolescentes de la Unidad Educativa Particular Comunidad Educativa de Formación Integral de Cuenca en el período 2019-2020

Abstract

Satisfaction regarding body image refers to ideas of how the person evaluates their body in shape, size and weight; This evaluation can be positive or negative, which will depend on the perception that the person has of themselves. In recent years, there has been a growing concern for body image, which has been affected since very young ages and it could lead to health problems later. The objective of this research is to describe the levels of satisfaction regarding body image according to sociodemographic variables in adolescents of the Unidad Educativa Comunidad Educativa de Formación Integral from Cuenca. The study has a quantitative approach, non-experimental design type, descriptive and transversal scope. The participants were 72 students between 14 and 16 years old of the aforementioned highschool, the data processing was carried out through the SPSS 22 program; data analysis was carried out through descriptive statistics techniques and presented in tables and figures. The results were not considered statistically significant, therefore, an existent association regarding body satisfaction according to sociodemographic variables, beyond those of sex and age, could not be considered. In conclusion, the existence of an association between satisfaction in regard to body image and sociodemographic variables could not be considered.
