Abstract
The Galapagos archipelago and in particular the island of San Cristóbal, have an unique natural value wich has been used for the islands to be declare “natural heritage of humanity” and “biosphere reserve” hence the necessity of being protected. Nevertheless the ineficient articulation in between the physical environment and the human activities have cause an evident damage on the habitats and island ecosystems , making this an unsusteinable model that puts the fauna and flora of San Cristóal in serious risk.
The following thesis work seeks to revert this reality throu a proposal of territorial organization for the island of San Cristobal that considers an urban organization model sustainable for the human inhabitations and efficient for the natural resourses.
In order to achieve this, this study is structure in four chapters:

Resumen
La isla San Cristóbal y en general el Archipiélago de Galápagos cuenta con un valor natural único en el mundo que le sirvió para ser declarado como Patrimonio Natural de la Humanidad y Reserva de la Biosfera, por lo que necesita ser conservada. Sin embargo la deficiente articulación entre el medio físico y las actividades humanas han provocado un desgaste de los hábitats y ecosistemas de la isla, haciendo de este un modelo insostenible que pone en riesgo la flora y fauna de la isla.
El presente trabajo de tesis busca revertir esta realidad a través de una Propuesta de Ordenación Territorial para la isla San Cristóbal, que considere un modelo de organización urbano sostenible de sus asentamientos humanos y eficiente de los recursos naturales. Para ello el estudio se estructura de cuatro capítulos:
