Valoración de bajo peso, sobrepeso y obesidad en los niños y niñas de la Escuela Fiscal Mixta Zoila Aurora Palacios de la parroquia Cañaribamba, Cuenca 2010-2011

Abstract

The present titled investigation “VALUATION OF the NUTRITIONAL STATE OF the CHILDREN OF the BASIC EDUCATION OF the CANTON CUENCA”; the nutritional state of children of the school “Zoila Aurora Palaces” of the canton Cuenca, which will allow to determine the presence us or not of low weight, overweight and obesity.

The sample in agreement with the applied formula was of 60 children of second to seventh basic year of education of the school “Zoila Aurora Palaces” of the city of River basin.

It is a study of cross section that will allow to determine the prevalence of bad nutrition in children of the fiscal school mixed “Zoila Aurora Palaces”.

In order to raise the information it was constructed the following instruments: form of survey on the socioeconomic condition that was applied to the parents of family of the children, form for the registry of the anthropometry, I am used in addition the tables to Index of Corporal Mass (IMC) and the curves of growth of the NCHS.

The found results are: According to percentile the 28,3% of children are with a normal weight and the 26,7% with overweight; on the other hand according to the I.M.C were a 55% with normal weight and 45% with overweight. According to Nelson 61% of children present/display overweight and 39% represent normal weight; whereas in relation to the stature for the age 60% of the children have an ideal stature and 40% of the children have a stature deficit.
